but it will drop at 200 on your other character, you dont have to start from scratch again

Well Renegades isn't out until December, so that's the worst option of the bunch. Next-worst would be the upcoming pass for two reasons:

1. It's just the reward track
2. If you buy EoF on Tuesday, it includes that pass

So unless you really want rewards from the paid track of the current pass, get EoF but wait until after reset on Tuesday

If so, there's a way to screw yourselves out of points in the opening defense section (enemies count for 0 points when Ghost's hack is paused), and the boss fight is capable of being way longer than most people let it if they don't intentionally drag it out, meaning it's very easy to leave points on the table by not killing adds.

In my experience, the time bonus in fireteam ops is bad enough where you want to be >= 9K before you clear the boss even with a significant window of time left.

They're reworking gear in the game to focus on the Tier system rather than the older Adept rewards as they move everything to the Portal. Many of the old Adept rewards, like the ones from Trials and GM Nightfalls, have been moved to Xur's loot pool, but they are pretty rare to get. Some activities that reward Adepts, like Master Raids, haven't been updated yet, so you can still earn them that way.

However, Tier 3 rewards are roughly equivalent to Adepts, and most the older Adept weapons have been outclassed by many of the newer weapons anyway.

We're currently in Season Reclaimation (which lasts 6 months). We're at the end of the first reward pass, and the new one will start with Major Update Ash & Iron. Season Reclamation (and the 2nd reward pass) will end when Renegades launches and we begin Season Lawless, which will also start the 3rd reward pass for Year of Prophecy. Once we reach Major Update Shadow & Order, the 4th reward pass will begin.

It makes a big difference haha. Perks that are good in PVP generally aren't that great in PVE.

For PVP you'd probably want a Shotgun, Sniper, or Fusion depending on your preference. Cloudstrike is a popular option and I believe is avaliable to F2P.

For PVE, you'll probably want something to deal with yellow bars. There are a lot of options, so it kind of depends on what content you're running

10-200 is the new player experience, you can kind of do whatever you want and gear should get you closer to that 200 mark so long as you keep infusing it into the armor you're wearing. After today's patch it will change slightly to where you only need to have that gear somewhere to get higher drops, not necessary wear it.

Once you're at 200 you'll be able to do most content in the game up to Expert level.

200-400+ is the Seasonal Grind which can really only increase by doing activities in the portal. If you're below 200 and just want to farm, you can start farming the portal earlier, but it's a requirement after 200
