Armor drops in Tiers, each Tier has different max points. Ideally you want either a lucky Tier 4 or a Tier 5 for the max of 75 total.
Tier 1: 52-57
Tier 2: 58-63
Tier 3: 64-69
Tier 4: 70-75
Tier 5: 75 guaranteed

Aside from tiers, armor now split points between 3 stats, a Primary, Secondary and Random stat. The Primary and Secondary stat are determined by the armor's "Archetype", which is always the same. The "Gunner" archetype will always have Weapon as the Primary and Grenade as the Secondary. The Random stat is just that, it goes in a random stat that isn't the Primary or Secondary. On a max stat (75 total) piece of armor, it will look like the following:
Primary: 30
Secondary: 25
Random: 20

As for the stats themselves, each stat gets one effect from 0 to 100, and then a bonus effect from 101 to the max of 200. Unlike the old system that scaled benefits every 10 points, the new system makes every point count.

If you have a build that is focusing on doing damage with grenades, you'll obviously want to put as many points into your Grenade stat. That will have two benefits; 0-100 will help reduce the cooldown so you can use more grenades, and 101-200 will boost the damage, making them more effective.

If you want to reach 200 in a stat, the main way of achieving that is by ensure the armor you use has 30 in that stat. 30 points across 5 pieces of armor means you'll get 150 total points into that stat. Then if you add the +10 armor mod for that stat to each piece, that's another +50 to give you 200 total in that stat.

You can start getting 30 in your primary stat I believe as early as Tier 2 (though I'd need to double check), so don't think you have to wait til Tier 5 to gear up.

There is an item you can get from Ada-1 in the Tower called "Synthweave" that lets you do it. She might have a quest to unlock it, it's pretty self-explanatory. You used to be able to get 18 Synthweave every couple months by doing pretty easy challenges, I'm not sure what the process is these days. You can also pay IRL money for them too if you're big into fashion

Mint Retrograde is one of the best Legendary options in the Kinetic slot. Good for non-Heavy DPS, good for add clear, very ammo efficient. It's very common to see people running Mint + Choir, or if you're not comfortable with double special, Mint + any primary. As for Heavy, Eager swords are popular if you're farming Power since it speeds up the runs and Mint handles any boss DPS. Outrageous Fortune is on par with VS Chill Inhibitor except it gets access to the season mods that are very strong.

I played an expert strike yesterday in Salt Mines, solo ops. It was quite weird and tougher than normal expert strikes. I faced some race that i haven't seen once in my 60 hours. I had to destroy 9 splinters but i guess the enemies looked like psions+taken mixture. The spikes were helix shaped and somehow their were like energy projections/surges periodically. There were 2 bosses, again, a race I've never seen. I got my ass beat very soundly. Can someone gimme a hint what this was, i wanna read/watch some gameplay on how to do this better.

Fusion rifles offer a bit more range than shotguns and can indeed pack quite the punch in the right conditions

Shotguns these days you mainly have to proc 1-2 punch and not much else (slug shotguns being an exception ig)
Fusions do have a bit more damage to themselves at the cost of the charge time

The Portal Exotic Missions give Pinnacle Ops gear (since they're Pinnacle Ops) and, in the case of Kell's Fall and Encore, are the current way to actually acquire the exotic and its upgrades. The Normal Exotic Mission version of those two missions are bugged to not drop anything (even legendary gear). The normal version of The Whisper is still the preferred/expected way to acquire the gun and its upgrades, though.

They changed the way Power will work going forward, so they reset everyone to 10.
10-200 is the "soft cap" and the new player experience. Most activities in the game can be done once you reach 200.
200-450+ is the seasonal grind. This is mainly to earn higher tier gear and participate in master/grandmaster/ultimate difficulty content.
Each new season will reset anyone above 200 back to 200 as a catchup mechanic so new and returning players can jump right into the action of a new season alongside everyone else.
