Edge of Fate is the beginning of a new saga and largely introduces new concepts and ideas that simply do not require much/any knowledge from the game beforehand. For example, The Nine were always a mystery to most the playerbase, and this expansion is finally elaborating on them to everyone. No prior knowledge needed

However, it's written in a way that you don't need to know much, if anything, to appreciate the new story since a lot of these concepts we haven't explored. I'd recommend doing a little research on Ikora and the Drifter, but apart from that everything is fully new. Even if you don't look into their backstories and past appearances, it's pretty easy to guess everyone's role in the story

For gameplay specifically, only Lightfall and The Final Shape are needed for subclasses. Most the campaigns have some relevant content tied to them that's worth owning, but some are more valuable than others (The Final Shape being arguably the most worthwhile IMO).

However, if you just want good loot, almost everything that is meta for PVE is free. Mint, Choir, Hezen, Prae, Returned, Outbreak, Outrageous, etc. F2P players have access to juiced arsenals and can play in 3 raids, so right now is the best it's ever been to play for free. The biggest benefits to unlocking DLCs are for the raids, subclasses, or Trials (if that's your thing).

Armor 2.0 had many stats that were largely irrelevant or were class specific. Armor 3.0 has made every start relevant to some type of build, and none of them are class specific. There's no "best stat" or "best archetype" for each class agnostic of build, the build is what defines what you use. Even then, it can vary quite a bit. For example, if you're playing a Melee build, it would make a lot of sense to pick Brawler and maximize your Melee. However, if you can get T5 Paragon with Melee Stat Tuning, you can reach a similar amount of Melee but prioritize Super over Health if that suits your build better.

Not sure what would make it close or far from an MMO to you. If you expect it to be chat room that you can also play games in, that's not Destiny. It's worth remembering that Destiny started as a console only game, so folks that have been playing for a long time started when text chat was fully impossible and voice chat beyond your fireteam was opt-in only.

Both of those things have changed, but the culture is still very much built on that. Your best bet to meet people is to LFG for activities like Raids where comms are required.

Pretty sure they're not capped on a weekly basis. If you're hitting a cap then you'll get to find out the hard way on the 9th if the cap resets with the rewards pass (meaning it'll reset on the 9th) or with the season (meaning it'll reset when Renegades releases in September December)

I completed witch queen and i have plenty of Exotic quests in my inventory right now. I am already at 200 power. I need some suggestions on what to do next.

I have the Mars evidence board quests with their exotic glaive, I have the Xur quest, I have Mara Sov Worm quest and I have all the subclass exotic quests for Titan(Dune marchers etc).

I also haven't played Shadowkeep/Lightfall etc and also haven't tried anything other than Titan

So what should I do next?

You gotta remember D2 is not a true MMO, it's an FPS with MMO elements.

People will sometimes talk in the Tower, but each instance only holds like 12 people and seem to close fast, so it's easy to find yourself alone. The game just isn't built with true hub areas in mind, and therefore text chat doesn't have much impact on the regular player. Some clans are very social in text chat if that's what you're after. Otherwise there is always discord.

You can unlock most Exotic armors through Rahool's Novel Decryption page at the Tower

Shaxx, Drifter, and Zavala all have useful weapons to chase if you still need to build up your collection. Saint-14 has a lot of cool armors for fashion. You can use the glimmer to upgrade or craft weapons.
