PlunderThaBooty is a consistent build crafter if you like ability-heavy builds. Build crafting isn't Datto's main thing but he usually makes a build video or two per season and he does solid builds too.

In general most of the build crsfters are at least decent. The main thing to keep in mind is it's very easy for a build to look better than it'll end up being for your needs. For instance, if they're raving about how a build can nuke a room and you don't see champions being killed or respawn tokens in the bottom right corner then they're not demonstrating the build in difficult content and it likely won't be as effective there.

The other thing to watch out for is some builds will have filler mods. They either copy pasted another build and didn't change all of the mods or just wanted to fill the slots. Don't blindly use builds without trying to understand why mods/fragments/etc. are being used.

Final caveat is we're getting a significant stat and armor rework on the 15th, so don't expect all current builds to be identically useful then. Some will be, some might even get better, but many will be considered worse with how the preferred stat meta is likely to change.

i have a friend who pretty much only gets builds from me, and he doesn't ever put in any of the leg work to understand why i'm telling him to use individual parts of the build he just throws it all together and never really utilizes any of the build aside from the exotics

Even if you're not going to buildcraft yourself (I virtually never do), it's useful to know what's going into the build so you know how to tweak it if you can't replicate it 100% since, especially with weapons w/ subclass verbs, builds often heavily encourage (if not require) matching the weapons they use too.

Think of weapons as a delicious steak and builds as the sides. Sometimes a side is so good that you enjoy it more than the steak, but 9/10 times the steak makes the meal.

osiris passage is practice trials and just gives rep and trials loot. Lighthouse passage gets you access to the lighthouse after 7 wins and the rewards you get there depends on the longest win streak you have getting to 7 wins. Then you can farm more loot on the passage or reset and try and get a longer streak.

So Lord of Wolves is a world drop, so your only choice is to just open exotic engrams and hope for the best. Bakris is a >= Beyond Light exotic armor pieces so your options are different.

• Rahool (after maxing rep to unlock Novel Decryption)

For pre-The Final Shape exotics your choices are:

How to Max Rahool's Rep

Opening and focusing Prime and Exotic engrams gains you reputation at Rahool. Focusing exotic engrams grants more reputation.

Beyond Light does not have a Legendary Campaign, so VSF/Rahool are you only hopes there.

My recommendation would be:

1. Farm Expert Lost sectors for Exotic Engrams
2. If a Vex Strike Force happens, drop everything to go do that
3. Open Exotic Engrams at Rahool until/unless you get Lord of Wolves
4. If you get LoW before MoB, start focusing exotics at Rahool until Rahool's rep is maxed, then reset him and focus decrypt Mask of Barkis using Novel Decryption
