As a new player, can anyone help me with the question on whether or not I should focus on trying to play the story D2 has? The game kinda just throws all these different campaigns at you & it’s pretty overwhelming on where to actually start, & I read online that some story content that was in the base game was vaulted so newer players won’t be able to experience them. Is there an easy & streamline way to identify the “main campaign” of D2 or should I just play whatever I feel like playing & watch a lore/story recap video afterwards?

Although there is cut content, the “main saga” starts with Shadowkeep and ends with The Final Shape and it’s a very linear progression from there. (Shadowkeep > Beyond Light > Witch Queen > Lightfall > The Final Shape)

Generally if you care about a cohesive story it’s better to do the story in chronological order

When I finished the tutorial missions at the Cosmodrone the game guided me towards The Pale Heart which I knew couldn’t have been the start point to the story because I remembered watching Maximising play through it, & then the next time I logged on it forced me into that Eris mission before you collect the chess pieces & then when I did a shadow keep mission I ran into her, which left me just confused on where to go all together

So, yeah, they won't be particularly competitive.

For example, when Witch Queen launched, it introduced Origin Traits - new, set perks for weapons based on who made them or which activity they dropped from.

This is additional to the regular random roll system of two traits, two perks, and a masterwork.

Well, to a degree it depends. Linear Fusion Rifles are meta right now due to bonuses from the current Episode, but that ends when the Episode ends in a month.
For someone dipping their toes back into the game, try Onslaught, in the Vanguard map node. Nearly every gun there is very good, if not top level meta, so it'll get you some reliable kit to do the rest of the game. You can also Attune drops at Zavala, which just means you can increase the drop rate of a specific gun from that activity.

Templar drops Vision of Confluence and Corrective Measure, and is much faster to farm. Then you'd only need to farm Conflux or Oracles for Found Verdict.

You can also farm Corrective Measure while going for Hezen or Praedath's if you don't have those already.

That's not what that means, necessarily, no. The only time NF weapons are guaranteed at all is if you're on Grandmaster difficulty and also kill all of the champions. Any difficulty lower than GM it's not a guarantee even if you kill all of the champions. You're just making your chances even worse if you don't kill them all.

Tier drops are determined by the difficulty modifiers, so folks won't be getting Tier 5 gear on week 1 unless they're incredibly lucky with the power grind. AFAIK they didn't show anything about tiering up gear, but unless they're ditching enhancement there sorta has to be at least some level of mobility between tiers

as it stands, given the general quality of expansion weapons from open world and the like, you probably still will be using the old stuff

Higher weapon tiers are not a meaningful benefit. Unless your armor has bad stats (purely from a numbers perspective), the new armor will not do anything meaningfully better out of the gate.

Like, the biggest issue folks will have with armor is that the stat distributions they care about are likely no longer relevant due to stat migration and how the stats work.
