Why is X not dropping?
It's RNG. No, the game is not bugged for you, or broken, it's simply bad luck.

• Bungie does not publish drop rates.
• We don't know how many estimated runs it will take for a specific item to drop.
• We do not know how much drop-rate-boosting triumphs contribute either, since we don't know the base drop rate.
• Runs are all separate environments. A 1/3 chance does not mean you get the loot you want one out of three times, it just means there is that percentage of chance whenever you run the activity that you get said loot.
• Perks are not weighted. All weapons drop with their perks at the same rate.

I did 10 matches of trials the other day got 4 adepts. It wasn’t that hard, won 70% of those 10 games. For duos clash won more like 35%

To go back past the previous season you'll need to use the Season Pass Pass extension. The chrome version has to be installed manually, but if you have Firefox you can install it directly from their add-on store

Real talk, as a new/returning player I would visit the Rite of the Nine hub and grab the free max level 2020 armor from the chest to the left of the Emissary if you haven't yet.

Then I would just play any campaigns you have access to and work on unlocking all your subclasses and their upgrades.

Depends on what is worthwhile to you. Microcosm is very strong against shields and is decent in a damage rotation if you're not confidant with other options. Personally, the Coop missions aren't terribly hard and were fun.

You just have to play through the Episode Echoes questline, you unlock Choir as part of Act 3. It's a little annoying since you potentially need to run the Encore mission several times (which is what most people complain about), but it's not that bad. Easier than Khavostov honestly

If you're running double special, you just need to try and carefully manage ammo economy. Leaning into your abilities to deal with enemies is a great way to stretch your ammo, and all the special generators can help you stay topped up. If you are uncomfortable with that, you could always run a normal primary as a fall back weapon until you get comfortable.

They're optional. Can be useful for getting vendor rep quickly or farming certain rewards. Do them if the rewards seem worthwhile, ignore them otherwise.

There is also an advanced technique you'll see people talk about before a new expansion/season drops called Bounty Stacking. They max out their bounties and complete them all but don't collect the rewards. Then when the new content comes out, they'll turn them all in for a huge xp boost to get a headstart. It's very unnecessary, so I wouldn't worry about that.

The game used to have "Seasons" with their own activities, rewards, and battle passes. People got tired of the system, so Bungie tried to introduce the "Episode" system. Essentially it's the same as seasons, but there are only 3 per year.

You can do the first mission of each Episode for free, but if you want to do anything else, you'll either need to buy the Episode Pass, buy current DLC (which is The Final Shape and gives you the pass for the current Episode), or buy the Annual Pass (which will retroactively unlock all the Episodes)

If you didn't pay for it, I wouldn't worry too much about the battle pass if you're on the f2p reward track. If you paid for the pass, it's probably worth grinding just to get your money's worth.

As a new player, I'd highly recommend just playing through the different campaigns, unlocking all the different subclasses, and earning Exotics. There are some limited time things like Rite of the Nine you can try out, but I wouldn't stress trying to complete everything. Most stuff you'll still be able to earn later, or a better version will come out. The things you'll miss out on are all mostly cosmetic.

Theres not just one build you take into a raid you usually switch around during it
