The simplest answer is "that's how Trials has always been." There's all kinds of other possible answers but that gets into SBMM vs CBMM territory which is a debate with no unified conclusion and no one benefits from starting it up here.

If you want the best possible rewards, you're gonna have to roll with the punches in the Lighthouse passage. If you want a more consistent experience that's akin to grinding Iron Banner, do the Trials of Osiris passage.

Dares is F2P. Pretty sure Forerunner is too. Dares is an activity launched from the Eternity menu in Destinations. Also in that menu is Xur's Treasure Hoard where you can spend currency at a chest next to Xur to get more rolls of the Dares weapons.

also-also the Dares weapons are craftable. If you haven't unlocked crafting yet (you get that quest after completing the free intro missions for Witch Queen), you'll want to knock that out first.

So the trace would arguably worth going for just in case you too become a S2L Trace Enthusiast and there's enough time to just get it via the guaranteed weekly red border, but otherwise I'd say just roll the dice on titan armor, but likely wouldn't make more than a single loadout if you're going to go all out and masterwork armor and the like

Defib and Elemental are very situational. If you're going for a DPS build (aka if you're also running Cuirass), Limit Break + Particle is going to be your most consistent best combo

Good question. I don't have an answer to that and neither can I find anything about it in the Compendium. None of the armor images/video we have show an Ammo Generation stat, though, and I think it got removed in favor of the two bars we see in some shots in the UI where the Guardian is in combat. That's just my best guess though.

It's random. Make sure you've done enough Alone in the Dark quests to have all 6 unlocked (only 3 will be visible at a time and you invert the ones that are active to change 'em) and rotate through them until you find one that drops vestiges

The build for getaway and rimecoat are essentially the same. Weapons change depending on the content. Like Funny-Peely said, Icebreaker is pretty sweet if you have it. Otherwise just the classic options are good. The main thing is that you just wanna proc devour with your melee, then get kills to refill your grenade and make turrets. Weapons with Demo can help if you are struggling to maintain devour. Buried Bloodline can do the same
