Herd ships with nvm, the Node version manager, and allows the management of multiple Node.js versions on your machine. By default, Herd automatically installs the latest available version of Node.js for you.
So I guess if you're experiencing issues you could ask them? It's a closed-source project, so ain't much to know about how it deals with node.
My colleague has also installed Herd on his Mac and like me Node doesn't install by default.
Then I guess submit an issue? Like I said, it's all closed source, so it's quite impossible to know how it installs these tools. Apart from checking if you meet the requirements, it's mostly just a guess
