Multiplayer is hard to implement in pixel dungeon and will probably not work well in a turn-based enviroment
What is it with all the multiplayer suggestions, specifically recently?
Like not shitting on anyone, just intrigued that they just got so frequent
Maybe I just wasnt paying attention or smth lol
Maybe people want a companion after rotting away on this game.
It's like uhm- not a trash, lifeless version of LoL
But it still has the no life efect
Or like valorant
Are you ok man? I don't wanna say you are projecting but..it does sound pretty worrying.
The word "Ok" is, often tossed around these days and has started to come of many names
Let me put this in a different way. Are you doing well? Are you lonely?
Whos well? And why would I be doing them? Also im skeletor.
Haha, well, I will take that as a yes. If you are ever feeling down you can always talk about it with me bro. Peace
if only people could know what truly happens in my head. But then I don't want to say anything lol.
In that case, I recommend you try to go outside regularly, practice physical activities on a daily or weekly basis (not everyone has the time), drink 8 glasses of water a day and sleep 7 to 8 hours every day, preferably before 10 PM. This stuff might look simple but it really improves your mood (or at least mine), trust.
And if you ever do feel like talking about it I would recommend seeking a professional that can help you with this issues, such as a therapist
In the meantime take careof yourself and make sure to surround yourself with excelent people
It's kind of concerning how many random people care about a random person
Why not? Id like to give each person the benefit of the doubt
It would take a real asshole to just lie to people for shits and giggles
(I don't do that) I have only came across one person that does that and it made me want to rip their brain out of their eye sockets.
It's kind of concerning how many people DON'T care about others just because they don't know them personally
As someone who has been depressed for a little less than half my life I love helping people. It let's me do to others that I can not find and achieve within myself.
You 100% can bro, it might take sometime but I believe in you
No I just have extreme ADHD and I'm a visual person so I use GIF's and pictures
Tbf i was using a relevant meme
I can tell

How would you turn a fully turn based game into a real time game?
At that point it isnt pixel dungeon
It turns into doom original.
Like, local or with a specific player, for info, I personnaly know the person that posted this idea, I made them discover SPD and they were hoping that there would be a still turn by turn and co-op game that you can play together and like, maybe call while playing for a better communication and maybe an in-game chat in case you can't call or you don't know the person you are playing with
Here
If it was turn by turn it would be a nightmare. Note that 1 game is probably more than 10k turns, and this doesnt even account for partial turns
Multiplayer spd has been attempted before and it didnt work
The problem is coding the multiplayer or playing it?
both
Ok
Yh both

Hmmmm... the only top down turn based dungeon crawler with a decent multiplayer I can think of is Crypt of the Necrodancer — and while such a mod would be great, that's basically an entirely new game.
It’s not turn based
Hmmm semantics. I'd argue beats are turns — they're just on a really short time limit. (You could argue against just as well, 'tis semantics.)
If there was a good way of implementing multiplayer I’d do it
Unlimited time turns would be pretty impractical for multiplayer since both players are expected to go within the same "window" repeatedly, and each "window" on average takes a fraction of second. Without some guide to cue both players together, it's an exercise in frustration.
Most turn-based, multiplayer games either have alternating turns, have long turns, or are asymmetric for this reason — and those aren't options for normal Pixel Dungeon.

We could analyze the problem from that perspective though. What would "long turns" or "alternating turns" or assymetry look like for Pixel Dungeon?
- Maybe two players swap out control of one body a la the game, Trine — eg. whenever the character takes damage or walks through a door or something else
- Maybe one player controls movement (and thus turns) while the other controls some auxiliary function like a shoulder mounted turret
I mean without changing the game
Yes, it's not feasible without changing the game because of aforementioned problem — unless you want to play a frustrating game
Yeah
I eventually had each player on the same seed and they could see each other and interact somewhat
There might be a solution someone clever comes up with that doesn't change the game too much though — someone smarter than I anyway
