its not worth to kill the skeleton because the necro will just heal very fast, and if you defeat it, it will do on-death damage like normal skeletons

and the necromancer will just summon another again

The reason is because I prefer to use wild magic armor ability

Which you should get as many wands as possible for

Also just so you know

Every class has one armor ability that is absolute dogshit

For mage it is warping beacon

#

It is significantly worse than the other 2

#

The only possible exception is duelist

Elemental strike can be good but

You need something like grim or vampiric for it to be good

Also huntress spirit hawk is alright but only when into darkness challenge is enabled

If you imbue a wand of higher level than the staff

The staff will be upgraded to the wands level for free

You can get a guaranteed +1 to +3 wand from the old wandmaker
