#Help on 7 chals

I've been doing a few runs on 7 challenges as mage to get the 1m point badge, the last one I miss. I consistently reach the metropolis as a warlock, but then I get wiped out rather easily.

I play as a warlock with all challenges except Runes and Pharma. In the first floors of the mines or earlier I transmute Energising Upgrade with Invigorating meal which gives a good boost after each kill. I dump around 12 SoU (if I can reach DK) on the mage staff and I never imbue it as the Magic Charge buff used with some other utility wands is very nice.

As for armor I go with whatever I can find and I try to get either flow or obfuscation.
Rings and artifacts are based on the run itself, I like to use haste and evasion.

Food isnt really a problem. My biggest threat is DK, with badder bosses on I waste way to many PoH, just to be killed by succubi a few floors later.

With 6 challenges and badder bosses disabled I was able to succed with this strategy, but Im struggling with 7.

Any tips are welcome. Thanks in advance!

I'm a freerunner main, so I'm probably not the one to be giving mage advice, but I do have a 7chal win, so I know how difficult it can be.
I can only imagine how difficult it would be to get through Metro and Halls with mm imbued... The damage is just not enough, and you can only hit one enemy at a Time. IMO, you should either imbue corrosion or fireblast for DoT damage, or something like regrowth in order to root enemies and hit them from range with thrown weapons or perhaps a glaive. DK without a consistent source of DoT damage is going to be very difficult. If you can Soul Mark with regrowth, then you don't need PoH, just whack them with thrown weapons to heal yourself...

Warlock is probably the best subclass to use for a 7 challenge
Recommend getting soul eater and soul sipon(unless you already know this lol)

#

But try to go for as much evasion as possible since faith is on

#

Recommend using a seed unless your gonna do this the old fashioned way

Ik but the magic charge buff basically grant me access to many level 9+ wands, which is why Im not imbuing wands

Just use the magic missile, then imbue another wand

When I play mage, I often use MM because of the increase to other wands too - but with 7 chal (especially FIMA) you don't want to get hit at all. You need to be one-shotting enemies, rather than two shotting them (MM followed up by another wand). That will work with single enemies at range, but you'll get stretched when there's more than a couple.

Of course I've only got one 7 chal to my name and it was sniper (shuriken, followup strike and bow shot all in a single turn), so in my head one-shotting is the way to success, but perhaps there are other ways to do it. For mage, I'd probably go Warlock and get some healing from the soul mark. There's not much healing from other avenues, so that will be a huge help. Of course then you are melee-ing and you are more likely to get hit - you still want to limit that by one-shotting if possible. I had some pretty good runs (no chals though) back in the day with a +7 Great Axe Warlock, took most enemies out with 1 hit so maybe something like that would work. Furor would help of course.

It goes without saying though that Haste is the most powerful ring. I had an easy 6 chal win with something like a +10 Haste ring. Many people say no need for more than +3, but the game is broke once you get high up like that, you will end up with a bunch of food and you can distance easily (literally leave the room if you need to in most cases).

For DK you probably need to get handy with potions. Shrouding Fog so they can't target you while you pick them off, the dragon's blood (or brimstone works) so you can set them on fire without burning yourself, or the toxic gas equivalents (spews toxic gas but you are immune), and I often drink a potion of Stamina beforehand for a sustained speed boost. Also take out the warlocks asap so they don't zap you, get rid of the ghouls in a group asap so they don't keep coming back etc. I often leave a monk alive if I can distance so I can take more potions, collect thrown weapons etc before proceeding

Got a very nice seed, early wand of corrosion +2 and wand of frost +1 from wandmaker. Dumped 12 sou into staff to get a +15 magic missile and then got carried with chains and +15 corrosion

#

Used the other 3 sou in armor (+3 scale of flow, from a +2 made with troll) and ring of accuracy (+3, from +2 of imp). I couldnt get any evasion buff. Healing was a problem only in sewer, and food was plenty, crafted many meat pies and exotic purifications
