#grandmaster TIPS&TRICKS☕ (NOT A HELP THREAD)
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
it basically means "interact with/apply weight to tile"
traps trigger when pressed, doors open when pressed, webs disappear when pressed
And how some wands have "pressure" properties, the corrosive gas is especially surprising
huh?
also plants, useful when trying to use on flying enemy
webs can be destroyed by simply throwing a random item that isnt a potion or a reactive runestone(by reactive it means that it can only be used through throwing) stone of flock also works.
its just better to throw your kunai rather wasting a charge
I recommended shuriken if you happen to have one
Shuriken free action economy is busted and I would honestly recommend a +3 for anything that doesn't need absolutely every SoU for equipment
you mean shrukien?
using thrown weapons on things or places that are not enemies won't reduce its durability, with the exception of the force cube
Having it at +3 is pretty much a free hit on every enemy in the game
You can also just keep it at barely-broken and use it to trigger traps and webs too
Tengus throws fake smoke
Not sure if it's that specific smoke is real or it's just made in a way to be always avoidable by walking
The "thick" smoke is avoidable as long as it's not its last line, that will always ignite you.
Well then all these blink stones used in my previous runs were wasted
Huntress's Heightened Sense +2 is good for finding Rat King room
*most of the time
Unless he just so happens to be standing exactly 4 squares away from the wall
but most of the time it'll work
Farsight work with into darkness(Correct me if im wrong)
If it's the snipers, sorta
farsight with into darkness w/o a torch gives one extra tile of vision at +2 for a kinda 3x3 circle vision
farsight afaik works normally with a torch on with sniper
heightened senses at +2 also works well to mitigate the loss of sight
Yeah that one and Rejuv. Steps are among the best T2 talents in the game
Rogue's Silent Steps are a really close contender
so apparently when you are on fire (literally), just drop all your scrolls/frozen meat on the ground and they won't get burned (unlike having them in your main inventory)
also refrigerator-like bag for food when
what exactly is happening here?
Toying with enemy pathing mechanics
If the enemy sees the player first and not the ward, they'll continue tunnel visioning on them
And because enemies generally like to follow the exact path you take, you can move diagonally and make them move twice to walk around the ward, because geometry
And then proceed to do it again
can this message be edited to clarify that a single object can be thrown into the healing well and cleansed of curse?
You can do that but.... why not just heal yourself while you're at it?
you can just put it on and then step in
wands can't be equipped but can be thrown
Ahhhh
There's a potential use
That being said, cleansing hunger and full hp restore is too good to pass up unless you happen by it while already full on hp and hunger
true
I try to wai until I'm starving and low on health, then put on cursed items before drinking the well of health
if you ever find a fire potion without any barricade to burn, this room exists
also guaranteed enchant stone behind the library
I thought most people knew this already :xd:
Same applies to quad gold key room - levitation.
A theory - retribution scroll with the summon trap room?
Ahh okay >. >
stone of intuition can be used as many times as you like if you guess right then save and load the game after every guess
i dont think this is guaranteed tho
same with the levitation, im fairly certain potions of liquid flame and levitation can generate without those secret or puzzle rooms
it's not
so then y is it pinned
Wait, this is actually real?
Then again, that room is very tell-tale anyway
Da hell
Save load???
ok so the best way to identify a ring of force as duelist is to just quickslot it
Leave and continue the game
whaaaat
doesn't work
probably known well, but using a scroll of transfusion on an empty mage's staff will fill with a random wand 😳
ohhhh shit thats why. it replaced the starter imbued wand!
well, still a good tip. i never once thought to use transmutation on the starter staff wand.
It's pretty neat but I probably like never do that on Mage honestly 'cause I do dumb power-gamey strats
What I mean by that is, I will legit just refuse to use the upgrade scrolls until I get a +whatever wand from the wandmaker
Even if I die in the process
Because +16 wand is my antidepressant
yeah i do that too, but in case of wrong ID, it works better than something worse (that's how i found out)
The two ideas are certainly not incompatible
You can definitely just transmute the wand type early on and not miss out, just to see if you get fireblast or corrosion in sewers
You can still get a guaranteed +16 wand even if you use a single upgrade scroll on your staff before imbuing
Now as for a +20 staff, yeah you need to save all of your upgrade scrolls and get that extra upgrade from another wand that's at least +1
Yeah this is pretty much what I mean
sometimes I'm saving one or two of those upgrades for armor/RoE
stones of blast hard counter the rooting fist, as they immediately destroy all surrounding tall grass, reducing the damage resistance completely.
sure scroll of psionic blast or whatever can do it better in many situations, but i find this to be the single best use of blast stones in the game.
simple and helpful. perfect
how much damage reduction does each grass give
Worth adding to your message that infernal brew does a much better job (considering you have fire immunity)
rooted fist has fire immunity :3c
You see, most DR it gets is from grass, and if it can't produce any grass, it'll be super easy to kill.
Try it yourself, you'll see.
#929622550034665483 can help.
Every time I think of using Fire on rooted I regret it lol
"Hey it makes grass, it'll burn in the fire" when all it actually means it's completely engulfed in fire because it keeps regrowing it's own grass
That's why you use fire immunity potion :D
ah yep. didn't get that. yep
Daaamn same.
another way to clear the grass around it for a brief moment is to use aqua blast
two ways to clear the grass for extended durations are the previously mentioned inferno brew and a storm cloud potion
combine that with a paralysis pot and u have a free fist (which could also very well include whatever fist was beside soiled fist)
ok so
hear me out
what if:
cursed ring of arcana 0 to have even lower curse activate rate
curse infusion and take worst curse (anti entrophy armor, sacrificial/annoying)
also used this chat because i don't want it to be overflooded by everything else
A simple guide for picking subclasses, depend on your equipment:
Gladiator: Fast/Accurate weapon, Ring of Furor or Accuracy
Berserker: Highly upgraded armor, usually tank build
Assasin: High melee gear or Assasin Blade, Ring of Energy is optional but great
Freerunner: Ranged melee like Glaive and Whip(its not really good at all) or Projecting enchantment
Sniper: Lots of thrown weapon, Ring of Sharpshooting
Warden: Either Sandals of Nature or Wand of Regrowth, a lot of Dart
Battlemage: Only when you highly upgrade the staff
Warlock: When you spend some upgrade to melee, or having a lot of wand
Champion: Crossbow for secondary slot, a lot of Dart
Monk: When you can't have Champion
Thus, I don't know much about the Duelist, so the guide is not much as any other class
Idk maybe a lot of people do this lol
Monk is best when you have good wands, I think.
They're also lot really losing much in terms of armor with Fima challenge on
Freerunner is also basically a wand build
Warden is great at tanking because of the grass armor perk, so huntress can default to that if not doing Sniper
The champion build that i usually do is a T4/T5 upgraded weapon as primary (mostly runic blade as its ability is the most powerful imo) and any other weapon for secondary that will get to the same level thanks to the Twin upgrades talent
- an hourglass optionally
But hourglass fits into almost any build
Runic Blade and Crossbow never fails
It's probably well-known by now, but if you do a curse infusion on the weapon getting all the upgrades, and you have shared upgrades, your other weapob can have all those levels without a curse
I didn't know that possibly because i never use curse infusion
Champion is godly with Grave Shike(Greatshield+Glaive) it is basically unstoppable. Idk but champion is mmy favorite subclass cause i almost always get shield and spear early and it stays there till 4th boos
Gladiator is just chilling gauntlet + rofuror+ roaccu
Beserker is tenancity +5 plus high lvl plate
Battlemage is my second favorite bcz it helps with faith is my armor with staff of transfusion.
Warlock is too broken with wocorruption and chilling sai with rofuror. You hit 8 times in a turn and with soulmark its free healing.
Champ 2nd build is spam corrupting runic blade on low hp guys. Takes a whole less 2 min in exploration.
For monk, I would rather say that is good with sai and roe with chalice and hourglass
I dont play with monk-eys
Ohhh if we are talking about duelist builds
Sniper is a little luck based, early ross means win or you might just pray to Yog for thrown weapons.
Waarden is my 3rd fav due to i just murder with little plants
I have a great one for you
I see
You first lunge, and proc polarize for 50% damage: proc also precise assault
Precise assault makes it so you can 100% hit with flail for heavy damage
So i will deal around 200% dmg
Go back 1 tile with hast
problem is simple
I dont have many tips for assasin even though i had a recent run with it
Just dump assasin blade(if yoou get it) and get grim enchant
roa is good with it
roarc
Freerunner sucks if you dont have wands...
I donot play with monk-eys or runners, so be a royal champion for once
how many times do i have to tell people
GRIM
SUCKS
ASS
FOR
ASSASSIN
as enemies are max hp when you hit them
it uses the hp after the hit for proc chance calculation
"Grim good lol"
Elastic is by far the best for damage aug assblade though
Anything that does annoying on-death effects you can just ignorw
you one shot things as assassin anyway so what is the point
curse infusion
easy
Corrupting Assassin Blade?
that is actually good
What if we're playing Huntress?
Then grim is best
you can't pick assassin as huntress
but even if you could... its still assassin so grim is useless
Pro tip
Consider leaving your strength at 1 point before that weapon/armor tier to be able to check for upgrades
Before blowing an ankh so you take it off incase of a curse
indeed you are truth
truthfully
why keep it unupgraded=?
Yeah I found out about this mechanic recently
You can go +1 staff early and get a +1 from the wandmaker or rng
For a total of +2
They have to be the same level for an upgrade to carry over
So that you can rush down to wandmaker, put a +2 wand into the staff, then dump upgrades on it
when you imbue a wand that is the same level or higher than yours staff's, the staff will inherit that wand's level, plus a single one of its upgrades as the game tell when imbueing wand
Yes
indeed is true
why not put a single upgrade before getting the plus two wand? either way results into a level 3 staff
I guess that works? I need to try it
yes like i said earlier
wand plus two has an higher level than plus one staff, so staff will change its level to the wand's level, and since the staff was upgraded, the resulting level of staff will get an single additional upgrade
most of the time if you find those early (sewers or prison) there's a high chance
but if you found those room and there's unidentified potion, its those
Not quite, the staff has to be at least +1 and the wand has to be of an equal higher level than the staff to carry over a single upgrade from the staff. As such using your first upgrade scroll on the staff is a "waste" only in super minmaxy runs where you're trying to milk maximum upgrades and you want to get that first +1 for free from a different wand.
yeah I tend to have minmax issues, but being able to carry one upgrade is a good compromise
Yoy can soul-suck your wards for hp/satiety and they even turn into wraths
phantom piranhas can be pushed off chasms using aqua blast. im assuming this works because aqua blast doesnt hurt and then push like blast wave does, and doesnt target (?) like chains do
not sure if this applies to non water tiles but apparently fighting fire with fire seems to work in this scenario
Update: checked if this works with non chasms (regular land), but it doesnt seem to work there, so u can only knock them into chasms ig
heheh, fighting water with water
i use aquablast for normal piranahs, never though of using them for phantom ones
We now use Water against fishes
water pressure
Not exactly, The Staff can be +0 and if a wand is +1 to 3, it will transfer all upgrade to staff when imbued
It's how I got Grandmaster Enchanter Badge
or, once you find a +1 wand, imbue it, then imbue a high level wand from old man
then upgrade dump
Me with a +3 Wand of Lightning on Floor 2:
or if you unintentionally found a dupe wand for wandmaker's potentially+3 wand, make that +4 at willsmith
or just upgrade dump the wand first then imbue later
as in +13 wand +1 staff and get +14 staff by dm-300
and than +20 by halls
get +24 staff with curse infusion
theoretically highest staff level possible
Grandma's ter tip: assassin can use his blink to react to places that you can't reach walking(i teleported to thr bat ignoring the void)
Teleporting is strong
Also you can use timestop abilities to extend the duration of your invis if you're looking for something to assassinate
For example, you can sit in a garden until your assassination meter is fully charged, then hourglass/swifthistle and walk out of the garden to assassinate something before the timestop runs out
or just use the cloak to get out of the garden without losing preparation
Or haste ring
why the ring of haste specifically
assuming u can make multiple steps out of the garden before the turn where u lose it
that would need a high level haste tho
Wouldn't the yellow seed work too?
yh technically
Simple RoW farming guide:
+++Basic+++
-The maximum level of equipment drops is ringlevel/2 rounded down. When two ring is active, the lowerring only boost the higher ring equipment drop levels by 1.
-Higher RoW level mean you have more free SoUs, but take more time.
-The farming cap is 2 above the exp cap, you can look for the exp cap in the wiki. For example, crab's exp cap is 9, so the farming cap is 11. If you reach lv 12 you can't get meat and items from crab.
12 is cap for Sewer, 18 is cap for Caves, 23 for Metropolis,
-Rush to the next region before farming. If you want to farm in the sewer, get 3 SoUs from the prison and come back. Make sure to rush and don't get too much level
-You only can farm on level 3, 12, 17. Prison and Halls don't have anyone drop food.
+++Farming+++
-You can farm on floor before the farming floor but the same region, like 1, 2, 11, 16,... but you won't get food
-You can farm on floor after the farming floor but the same region, like 4, 13, 14, 18, 19... but you will pass the farming cap
-You should go around the level to find enemies. Once you could craft a noisemaker, craft it. Find a room with 1 door(Garden is ideal), throw the noisemaker in a corner, sleep in the door. Enemies will come to you and you kill them
-Use the ghost, tell it to stay outside the door to farm faster. You will need strong weapon and armor for the ghost.
I don't get it, whenever I use Wand of Warding like that, the enemy attacks it before it can zap. It takes a whole turn to become active, and the enemy hits it like it's a companion, and it dies in one hit.
It's an aggro mechanics situation, if they see you first they aggro on you until acted upon by another entity
you'll notice this with the bees very often
enemies will just completely ignore them until they get attacked by it
but only if they saw you first
Killing wraith with kinetic give a lot of dmg
fire dart can burn doors
basically 2 seed value if you use it for burning meat
it works on any flammable terrain
Addendum to dart strats
Ice darts do not seem to work for the firewall room
ice darts don't leave an area effect when trown, and they can't go thru the fire wall
Yup
If you want to cheese mobs with stormvine seeds, you can also do that with the darts (you'll have to pick up the dart on the next floor though)
stormvine seeds do a shocking effect instead of inflicting vertigo, so they cant chasm cheese
if u wanted a chasm cheese related to stormvine seeds, make them into a levitation pot and then make aqua blasts and push them in
or just use the seed
If you ever even hit them
yeah wraiths are so annoying especially in the floor 4 they always dodge my glaive attacks..
bad enemy design
I never use glaive
I go warlock runs so I use wands
lol
I enjoy it when I corrupt them with one hit or with wand of corruption
i dont even know if you are joking or being for real that makes it funny
Warlock is my main next is assassin
Every time I attempt to use glaives I die so I don't use them
here's a tip, you know about the turn counter? its a little circle be below your character portrait, you can use it to know the amount of partial turns you currently have, the glaive and spear use one an half a turn, so you can count your hits or look when the turn indicator is half a circle to know when your attack will take more time, you could also just use an augmentation stone, which at this point of the game it would be easy to obtain, to make it faster, trades some damage for speed, it would work simiarly to a greatsword but with extra range
the thing about warlock is using melee and thrown weapons to get healing since, as the game states, magic wont trigger his healing effects, unlike the battlemage who completely rejects any melee weapon that isn't his staff
I have a god sent run that was perfect
yeah, the crossbow is amazing
Tried to get some darts but couldn't get any and this was right before boss room and I got cross bow from a transmutation
not only for the warlock, everyone loves it especially the warlock.. it has the damage of a tier 3 sword so it can be a decent finisher weapon, if your enemies even survive after all the darts you shot to them
also i think we should talk about this somewhere else
Ye
floor 4
uses glaive
bruh
curse infusion to get explosive crossbow and watch the end result
yup.
the proc rate of curses is kinda lame, that's one of the reason why i mostly stick with enchants
Read my name
not sure if this has been posted before, but this is pretty good for duelist high chal run
Whaaaaat the fuck it can do that?
Anyway it might be preferable to use the wait button to get patient strike damage
Still awesome
useful in any chal run
if i need to use talents that require using a weapon ability(like the one that gives shielding and combined energy), i use lunge on the fog of war.. note that you can also aim at walls to use the ability, not just empty tiles
For a while I was using torches to see what was in these pick-one rooms; you actually don't need to at all. The room that gives you the ring/artifact is always 3 tiles wide, and the supplies room is always 2 tiles wide.
Nvm I was wrong
That being said, you won't need to use a torch if the item is directly next to the door for you to see
You can use phase shift on yourself
it will paralyse u for 10 turns if u do
i used to think the same too, until i realized i was wrong
this tip would be more helpful if it wasn't in the item's description
If you're really strapped for self-tp options, it can work, but getting yourself paralyzed for 10 turns will get you killed 75% of the time
unrelated to the reply
?
So its in the description?
yeees
OK
Tips when using Polarized Gladiator
When using Crush, the 7x7 splash damage is never 0 dmg despite the primary target receiving 0 dmg
Huge shockwave
Whaaaa? How does it work then?
basically while primary target gets 0 dmg, nearby target does not get 0 dmg
well with polarized that's actually 75% average damage
for splash damage
75% average damage
Wait, so that means that mechanically, polarized increases the weapon's damage but makes it do 0 on rng
So weapon abilities actually get boosted by this
Wow no wonder it's a good curse
150% normally, and half of that is inflicted on other targets when glad crush hence 75%
yeah as duelist you can get +95% dmg when using spear spike
literally double
Holy shit that's nuts
it is the BEST curse
This is a bug then, I don't think Evan intended on making abilities deal 150% damage
The best curse is the talking item curse
And that is a grandmaster tip
real and true
If that's how it's coded under the hood, then it'll probably be that way unless a different formula is made for it
Apparently if you throw a potion (like fire, frost, any that has gas effect) but you can't see where it lands, you can't identify the potion even if you see them later
good tip to avoid doing something like that
Yeah in case you forgot and got the same potion later
probably not
yes
like
why using fire pot to open barrier
when you can craft a firebomb
Causes mild problems in the darkness challenge, for example the fire rom
you can use dragon's breath potion to extinguish fire from yourself like any other potion but safely as this exotic version does not splash fire when shattered
very (not useful) .awesome
the description says it produces fire in contact with saliva so that makes sense
indeed it does
what if i spit on the ground
and then throw to pot on it
it'd burn
hmhmhm
so when you use the pot
cuz it's big aoe
are you just spitting at enemies?
it's called dragon breath so
Dragon spit
your spit, the dragon's breath
dragon's breath seems kinda wack but I've never used it
like why would I use the extra energy? What is it giving me in terms of benefit?
it is good if you were already planning to aimlessly throw liquid flame pots at enemies
the short cripple is nice
coughs
its effect are a little bigger but is has no range
Sometimes I will resort to this in emergencies honestly
Like if it's a giant skeleton or something, fuck it imma just chuck a pot at it and keeping throwing regrowth on it
i use consumables for damage when i can't be bothered to make a proper build
do you like the cripple it gives to enemies?
very useful
Maybe? Oftentimes I just let the burn damage do the work
Cripple is good if you plan to keep hitting them with ranged
if not, the burn will do
it lasts for like 5 turns, very useful to gain 2 free hits on enemies in addition to burning damage
i am curious how a skeleton stew tastes like
or melee
also useful for summoning rooms
If you put it in a stew it'd probably taste pretty good because of the bone marow (but that's off-topic)
It'd actualy be pretty funny if there was a spin-off game that let you cook the monsters
it is a grandmaster tip whenever we gain the ability to cook enemies
Sometimes if you light a crab or spider on fire, it'll cook it's meat too
cooked spider mmmmm
sounds terrifying
it does, have you tried poisoning them first
Can't say I have, interesting
Does it make carpaccio?
it should if you they die on water or something
that happens when the enemy lights a door or grass then dies and drops its meat
yup
sometimes the ice stays for a turn after they die when they do it in water
or i am hallucinating
either works
a bolt from a wand of frost has the same effect as freezing blobs
Water basically just doubles the stacking effects on the enemy, I don't think it explicitly lingers unless the actual effect causing it does
this is why the wand can turn of bombs, put out fire, and freeze meat in the target area
i.e. frost traps and potions
and freeze potions
it freezes the meat if you shoot it against a wall
It turns off bombs???
That's more the wand than the water
freeze blobs turn off bombs, fire blobs blow them instantly
Never knew frost defuses things
nice
So does that allow you to pocket your noisemaker?
you can manually defuse bombs if you try to pick them up fast enough
hot potato
I suppose so
I tried to do the swift-thistle defuse trick on the noisemaker and it didn't work, at least while it's still active
i can with a ring of haste
but the wand works too
should i delete everything that isn't a tip or directly related to one
it'd be better if people looking for tips didn't have to scroll through miles of rubbish
If you polymorph a thief who stole something from you, it won't drop and you'll lose it
Just happened to me and thought it was funny, in case someone has something like their ankh stolen they should probably avoid cursed wands
Tip: You can identify SoRC by cursed spellbook
Ahhh that's a good one
The same thing applies to scrolls of rage, retribution, psi-blast, and similar ones like that which induce effects on enemies
Lullaby has more general use than the rage interaction though, since rage is too temporary for the enemies to actually kill eachother with the effect up
another good use of mind vision potion is retribution scroll + mind vision
You can use the pick-one crystal door rooms (the ones where you choose artifact/gear or supplies) to soft-confirm what scrolls aren't the scroll of upgrade and which potions aren't the potion of strength
Since they are guaranteed to not put those items as a reward in those rooms
^^ Also works with any potion/scroll found in a secret room
viscosity deferred damage will keep you immune to being charmed by succubi
typically you wanna stay out of melee of those things anyway, but if you have lots of defense/healing to outpace the damage it can be pretty neat
Credit: Victor #pd-general message
only mob dropped loot will trigger
Damn... I just gotta step on it and pray i do not die lol
i don't think this is useful
It's an important detail
It's not going to help you kill a gnoll or anything, but it's good to know that a frost trap below a chest won't blow up your strength pot
No, just bring a mob closer to it then you are and trigger it
Traps can be really great tools, especially single target
situations where a container has a drop under it are no very common, and if you pay attention you can easily learn it by yourself
but i guess it is useful for those who haven't learned about it yet.
freeze doesn't harm str pot
wand of warding is an excellent distraction tool, almost like throwing a stone in a stealth game
the enemy will immediately murder the ward, but then since they just technically lost their target they choose a new pathing, which may very well be the direction opposite to the one they were initially taking (in this case, away from me)
consideration should be made when playing with swarm intelligence on, as it will alert other enemies, but at the very least it wont be to ur location, but to the ward's location
not sure if an example of this exists alrdy but i figured y not
Blizzard brew instanty freezes enemies over water, this could more useful than paralysis pot because enemies can snap out of paralysis and spend 1 turn
iirc it wouldnt be fully instant, it would take 1 turn for chilling to stack, unless blizzard brew has different chill logic
oh no nvm
thats neat
need to take into account tho that u can damage a paralysed enemy and they can stay paralysed, but if u unfreeze a ranged enemy it can shoot in the turn and then be frozen again
but still, good use of frost pots as a constant freeze
this is actually pretty awesome
ive never thought to make one of these ever until now
ill have to give it a whirl
Corrosion cloud doesn't break frost debuff?
it does
if they're on water while frost is broken they get 50% slowed via chill
and with a blizzard brew they can possibly get 1 action in before being frozen again if im correct
but thats a step up from frost pots and kinda a step up from snap freeze
Dyou guys use potions on normal floors?
if u need to survive and u have a pot that can help u survive, sure
id rather not become dependent on said potion, nor would i like to get in that 'i need potion' scenario that often
id rather my combat build alone be effective, and whatever potions and consumables i have be used as getaway buttons/tricks
Hmm potion alchemy is all aoe if im not mistaken . Feels kind of a waste using them with just 1 or 2 enemies.
I only use spells or scrolls on normal floors. Maybe that's why i feel that floors are more stressful than bosses.
i tried with physical attacks and they still get no turns while standing on water and the blizzard
That could be a good way to ace the Dwarven King fight by preparing water tiles in most lf the arena
Cam use it to knock out phase 2 or 3 easy peasy
Hmm potion/potion variants aren't absolutely necessary for dk tho.
Runestones , darts and wand is enough
Shock is for butload of ghouls to recharge wands
Flock so you don't get sniped by warlocks as they spawn
Yes
Yea. I use aggression for annoying golems and save 1 for dk late phase
For final phase I just throw a bunch of gas potions and purity + invis
It's probably inefficient but it's reliable
Worth noting that i used monk with this. Built in mobility in her kit.
This is all by accident really. I haven't brewed much and not that many charges on my wand. Funni book trolled me and teleported me in lmao
i try to gather some enemies in a spot if i need to use certain items to use the most out of it
I use potions in summoning rooms
1 corrosive potion clears it
What is it doing in the severs?
helping with demonstrating the trick
Likely debug mode, but AI is all the same
What are you drinking?
People have done it with 9 chal too somehow
you need to get lucky with 9 chal defense zerker
Ik
especially getting an upgraded lifesteal weapon early
How does armor dump work with FiMA?
I won a 7 chal run bc I got 2 +2 RoH
@wide trench bro are u alive
Dam that clicking sound
Context for those who don't know: using aqua blast spell allows removal of carpets/floor which makes you a target for the sentry
And it seems that the 3rd move will be fatal, as it gives 2 "warning" moves
no, bad, we dont waste potions here
By the time you're in the City, it isn't gonna matter if you use one or not
Unless you are using them willynilly
Bossfights
a burning door with an item on it takes 2 turns to burn while a door with no item in it takes 5 turns to burn
if ur playing warlock with barren on and:
- u have a whip/ranged melee weapon
- there is a giant enemy/fat enemy
- u have sungrass seed
what u can do is soul mark the fat enemy, hit said fat enemy over and over for free heals (since warlock's heal accounts for damage blocked by armor/damage reduction effects) and when it's about to die hit the enemy with a sungrass tipped dart. it will heal a decent amount of health/back to max, allowing u to repeat the free heal soul mark beatdown
it essentially keeps the use of sungrass to heal u, even with barren on, and now u can replenish hunger too
this can technically also work against non giant/fat enemies too, u just need to kite them for longer, so if u have flow armor, haste ring, armband, a lot of/enough bolas, frost wands (which u can use via wild magic in 0 turns to insta-slow by 50%, equalling cripple more or less), etc., u can do this with a lot of enemies to extend soul mark healing
You'd technically be fine just launching another arrow but that works too
it summons a random enemy from the chapter
yes, sheep can activate them and they will target enemies too
You aim the blastwave at the blue spot
blastwave trickshots at various distances. The general rule seems to be that you need to aim behind the target with offest equal to the distance (point blank is 1 distance) and then aim diagonally one tile away
this is so cool
works with aquablast too
if you don't me spamming angles there's this if you ever need that (direct aiming knocks diagonally, with a bit of offest they fly up, redundant at higher distances because they'll fly up even with direct aiming)
you can easily knock a directly diagonal enemy to a side too
apparently there are 2 sweet spot for each of the 8 direction
the one indicated there is the closer sweet spot and it also work if aim at 1 tile further
not for anything beyond that
same goes for here it also work if you aim 1 tile further (at the door)
still don't know why it work tho
I'm pretty sure this trick was discovered but Imma still just post here:
90% consistent goo strat as huntress (only won't work if too much water)
yeah but the exit 2×3 loop is the only guarenteed loop, other loops need different approaches and different strat
A potion of snap freeze + lullaby is a way to reset health safely at tengu
Idk if that's common knowledge by now . I just discovered it and confirmed that it works
On rogue a way to reset at tengu is simply just to read the lullaby scroll if u havr inscribed stealth
you can use grass instead to be immune to tengu's attacks and sleep(he can't use shurikens if he can't see you), however, mind that when he refreshes his traps in the first phase grass gets vanished, and in the second phase he can throw other attacks at you even if he can't see you, eventually he runs out of them though if you don't reduce his health. deepsleep stones are good to stop the fight if you need time to heal or recharge your stuff aswell
If you don't feel like wasting a bunch of turns waiting around in sacrifice rooms, you can just throw beehives in them to feed the altar.
So that's how you do it correctly
It hits the target but weird game logic treats it as hitting the same spot from a different angle (the reason it goes the opposite direction depending on where you were normally)
The trick is basically exploiting that to treat the trickshot impact as hitting it from a different "side" entirely
The formula for getting the proper angle should probably be put in a infographic
both of those statements are factually incorrect. Mossy clump is a lot better than clover, since a lot of the times in challenge runs you have (or hunt for) flow armor, which means the wet floors are a massive benefit to you, and grassy floors provide a lot more cover than non-grassy floors, allowing you to lose enemies and get free sneak attacks a lot more easily/consistently. Also grass floors net you more seeds and by extension more dart tips and potions.
As for sundial having no use, it's useful if you're at a point in the game where you're taking on average 0 damage per fight, and so having more fights simply means getting more mob drops (aka useful resources for later). It's not necessarily a great trinket in general, but it does have use cases and does provide value.
Couple things:
-
Mimic tooth is good if ur able to detect the mimics and if ur able to quickly dispatch of it. It essentially falls under the same concept of rat skull in that you get more loot, especially considering that ebony mimic drops are uncursed
-
Mossy clump spawning more water floors is a good synergy for flow armor (which is meta), or camo armor (which is also meta). Grass helps you lose enemies easily too and gives seeds which gives energy
-
Exotic crystals is the same concept of energy gain. Exotic items means you can energize stuff for 6 extra energy each time, effectively making each exotic equivalent to a pile of alchemy energy (and alchemy is op)
-
Parchment Scrap becomes pointless if you either want a specific weapon (bcuz i wouldnt care if i got a vampiric longsword if im incapable of using melee with said longsword, and transmuting is too finnicky of rng) or dont need weapons at all cough huntress cough. Auto curse removal is decent ig but imo thats about it.
Granted I havent played multiple trinket runs, but i feel like id stand by what i have said
Mimic Tooth is only good with Huntress lemme tell u that. You have to almost shoot every chest to check if its there or not, and ebony chests have almost an HP of tengu, and remain invisible, i mean u have to triple check every item on the ground or consider urself dead, The mimic huntress run i did, made the trinket last for 15 floors then i transed it and got eye of newt, because oh fucking god ebony mimics, how much i hate them. I found 11 of them in total, making me very mad. imagine my trauma
Inspecting a mimic with mimics tooth shows a healthbar but also shows regular text
rat skull doesn't reduce the amount of statues or mimics. In fact, based on what I can see in the code, it has no effect on mimic or statue spawn rate (it seems as though evan forgot to change the description after adding mimic tooth, which affects mimics), and has half of its effect to make statues that were already going to spawn into armored statues. I don't really want to argue about the accuracy of the list beyond that because it seems as though others have already done so, but the rat skull stuff is just incorrect in terms of the facts about it
grandmaster TIPS&TRICKS☕ (NOT A HELP THREAD)
i want to remind everyone that this thread is for niche facts, advanced tricks and things that can make someone better at the game, not opinions
vague advice that boils down to "don't do the obviously bad thing" isn't great either
a guide to maximizing the potential of each trinket: good post
a tier list of all trinkets: bad post
you can steal dew from evil eyes for a tiny bit of healing in a pinch: good post
you should hide behind walls to not get hit by evil eyes: bad post
I wonder how Tier list helps, When I don't even know what all the trinkets even do!
Stinky rat skull
A simple Rat skull strat is to farm chaotic elemental for transmutation scroll so you can transmute the skull it into a better trinket for hall (or keep them if you want to farm some exp pot from acid scorpion)
Wondrous resin neutral/helpful effect list:
-
Tp you/enemy to random place
-
Spawn random plant
-
Regrowth blob
-
Spawn paralytic gas
-
Spawn toxic gas
-
Spawn confusion gas
-
Absorb hp from enemy
-
Explosion on impact
-
Abort/Retry/Fails
-
Sheepify
-
Give enemy hex
-
Spawn 2 mirror image
-
Gain recharge (without the electrical cloud)
-
Burn target
-
Freeze target
-
Spawn enthalled golden mimic (drop nothing when killed)
General rule of thumbs:
- Commit to resin means using wand when adjacent to enemy is potentially dangerous (explosion, root, fire, gas) so do remember your others melee options if you are stucked in close quarter
- Curse wand bolt always fly until it hit the target (similar to magic missile) so you can't use it's gas effect like a cossorion wand, but the enemy will still be affected by the gas if the partial turn indicator is not full/empty
- Generally if random tp is not dangerous you should try to spam cursed wand since there are multiple strong effect that can be triggered without hitting enemy
- DO NOT use wand against leaving thief (tp, bomb, fire, etc)
Tips for RoW Runs:
Reccomended Gear: Rat Skull/Mimic Tooth(Rat is better), Dried Rose, Ring of Energy.
Tips: Always farm on "Darkness" floors, get a noise cracker, keep it running until you have everything you want.
If you find a giant maze, you can grind it there even better.
Dried Rose should do your job but even better, since you are practically generating his health via ring of energy.
If you donot have dried rose, farm it on lower levels until you get it or every artifact except rogue's hood, (which should be obtainable after you get every artifact and transmute one useless such as armband)
Best general floors to farm: 4, 9, the floor before mechs spawn in caves, 17. Never farm in halls, pretty self explainatory.
Also the only way to identify elements is that if you take lesser damage from shocking traps, magic traps and magic enemies. If you don't have anti-magic(u probably dont or you are lucky af) you can check in caves if your ring is elemental or no. If its cursed, you will take 17 to 20 damage, uncursed means 6-8 damage.
False
You can check elements from toxic gas, frost trap/chilling debuff, being on fire, prolly smth else
From what I understand on alternative hp regain methods, lullaby is more efficient on boss floors where hunger is not a factor (and it also puts the boss to sleep), while sungrass is more efficient when starving since the regeneration usually exceeds your actual health bar and compensates for hunger damage.
Lullaby is only actually useful when the boss is active, The Transition to Tengu's Second Phase is a good example, but I think the limited amount of HP you can Regen hults Lullaby
Sungrass is definitely the best option since it doesn't have a limited amount of HP during bosses
Right, the locked status that halts hunger drain is what makes it worth
There are ways to abuse lullaby mid battle
If you are rogue with inscribed stealth using lullaby is essentially free as it gives you invis
For tengu as long as you can stall his shuriken lullaby works fairly well (traps may be an issue but can probably be played around with quick movement such as blink stones or aqua brew)
So a flock stone + lullaby and the aforentioned can work
Another easy one is a snap freeze to completely nullify tengu and then follow up with lullaby
DM is immune to sleep so just lullaby in a corner
DK cant be lullabied in phase 1 afaik; i think he just keeps summoning
In the summoning phases as previously mentioned you can keep 1 enemy alive and lullaby or use lullaby when no enemy can retaliate (cover from warlocks/blind them and then kite the other enemies, shrouding fog or grass cover to block enemy vision + mind vis pot, shield self with flock stone (can backfire with golems as they can tp you out, maybe add an aggression stone on a sheep but idk how that works))
Pro tip: When you are surrounded by a horde of monsters and want to kill them seperately by door and have a corridor like this
Door
Tile 1 Tile 2
stand on tile 2 always to always surprise attack the coming enemy
(i cant show this on my laptop because for some reason it doesnt record spd specifically and records every other thing at 720p 32 fps)
also its clear to never do this against flies
This only works if tile 2 is below the tile that the enemies are walking from (scenario 1)
If they enter the door like in scenario 2 then ur not gonna surprise attack every enemy
And it works there not because of the door but simply because being around a corner like that gives surprise attacks
I could destroy/open the door and still get surprise attacks in the first scenario
that's pretty close, but in my experience it has rarely gone to scenario 2 since most enemies tend to follow a singular one that procs swarm intel hence the scenario working like cheese
In situations where you want to identify a potion for the purpose of drinking it in it's exotic form, and you're certain you know which one it is, you can skip identifying it and just brew the exotic potion directly.
ID's the potion and gives you the effect you're looking for at the same time. I often do this for a potion of cleansing on diet runs.
SUPER NICHE trick:
if you're standing on untrampled green grass, you can tap on yourself to trample the grass underneath you.
really only useful with camo armor or warden shenanigans as far as i see, but i love it
you can do the same with seeds
Adding to this:
If you are huntress (and hence have rejuv steps) with a shuriken, camo armor and there's furrowed grass everywhere you can throw the shuriken onto furrowed grass in your path to remove the grass and set up rejuv steps on that tile which gives camoflage from 'furrowed grass'
Adding to this (very niche):
Since trampling grass count as movement, if you have ring of haste you can use this to "wait" for less than 1 turn
You can throw a potion of purification to get rid of fire in a large area
Same as well with frost potions, or an icecap seed (note: only immediate area, and only on a water tile if icecap so that it doesn't burn the plant)
Potions of purity have a far larger area
Electric based traps can recharge wands. Not so sure about artifacts though
If you find a wand of regrowth and want to do farming loops with it, get the rat king armor upgrade and use the rat-inforcements to trample the grass for you.
Just go on a boss floor (mines and metropolis work best) and fill the floor with rats, spam grass, then use sleep-waiting to let them do all the menial labor. Rinse and repeat for obscene amounts of free seeds.
When playing as battlemage with the artifact recharging talent, a horn of plenty and the wand recharging on eat effect talent you basically never have to worry about hunger and have infinite wand charges
this is basic evident functionality and not an advanced trick
I wanted to add that augmenting your wand for speed makes you twice as strong
Also you can instantly activate bombs by throwing them on flaming tiles.
Since sombody gave me this tip and it's helped a lot, thought I'd share.
The bare minimum you should have going into floor 3 is 11 strength and an upgraded armor or weapon. You're always guaranteed the first strength pot by floors 1-2, so if you don't have something already upgraded, use one of your upgrades on a piece of tier 1 gear.
Utilising crystal path rooms
These rooms are a relatively new addition to shattered. They have 6 consumables inside of them and 6 crystal doors, but you only have 3 keys and can't see two of the consumables. It turns out that they use a particularly specific algorithm for determining the loot, knowledge of which can help you make a choice as well as help with identifying the contents of the room.
- Three of the rooms always contain potions, the other three - scrolls. Potions of strength and scrolls of upgrade cannot spawn here.
- It is guaranteed that either the scroll marked A or the potion marked D are respectively transmutation or experience. Both A and D have a >50% chance of being respectively transmutation or experience.
- The game sorts all scrolls by rarity, and, similarly, potions. It is guaranteed that scroll A is a rarer scroll by that definition than B, and B is a rarer scroll than C. Same goes for potions. Referencing these rarity lists can give you important clues for identifying consumables; for example, if B is retribution, then A is incredibly likely to be transmutation.
- ADDENDUM: With exotic crystals, A and B for instance can be of the same quality, except one will be exotic and other won't; the "rarer" option is not neccessarily the exotic one. [NOT THE CASE ANYMORE]
Perhaps I will follow this post up with some more precise calculations. Credits for finding these things go to @spiral badge.
The first time you see these rooms in a run, I recommend unlocking both the scroll and potion paths, and noting somethinf like "Black is EXP or Berkanan is Transmutation", which gives you a likely guess for an intuition stone. If one guess is still incorrect, it still confirms the other by deduction.
If I'm comprehending thaf last point correctly, then some rare generations have guaranteed identifications by logic;
If A is mirror image, then B must be remove curse and C must be Identify
If D is Frost, E must be mind vision and F must be healing
Add on:
- The rarity of the scroll and potion is shown in the alchemy guidebook, where the upper is the most common, going row by row from left to right, until the rarest at the lower right
A rule of thumb here is that if B is rarer in its hierarchy than E then its more likely that A is transmutation than D is experience
please try to focus on practical concrete tips and not in depth code analysis
i want this to be a thread a player can scroll up in and learn new skills
Threads inside threads would be incredibly useful here
just make a new one
Rule of thumb for playing Huntress is to always try and keep an enemy 2 tiles away from you when kiting them, that's usually the minimum amount of distance you need to evade enemy vision and make them stop in place.
Often times, that comes in the form of entering through a doorway and hugging the edge of the wall 3 tiles away from the door.
Wouldnt it kinda be considered a practical tip if you could use the info to extra id stuff through super intuition?
Sad ghost blocks ranged shots from enemies that target you and vice versa. That means that they dont shoot at all. Example use: waiting for tengu to take damage from DOT in first phase
In addition to the above, because of the way enemy aggro works, enemies will actively ignore the ghost even when they're in the way of their ranged attacks and will attempt to move around them. You can use this to obstruct warlocks and shamans.
Also, sad ghost is immune to fire, so you can throw firebombs into a room and have sad ghost bodyblock the door to keep them in.
The 10 9chal commandments:
- Turn your unidentified scrolls into stones, most scrolls are more useful as stones anyways
- Take advantage of meat pies, scrolls of lullaby, wells of health and cleansing potions as much as you can, healing is crucial, especially during the earlygame
- Try to use your ankhs on already cleared boss floors so you don't risk dying on your way back (a strat called ankh reset)
- Try to be as efficient with your scrolls of upgrade as possible. If you're huntress, you should enchant your bow as soon as possible and not bother with enchants that aren't worth it (blazing bow is top tier)
- Alchemy is your friend especially for boss fights. Shrouding fog and dragon's blood are really good for Tengu, while toxic essence is really good for Dwarf King
- Try to save at least 4 scrolls of magic mapping (or stones of clairvoyance) for the endgame so you can map all of demon halls
- Defense is still good for the earlygame despite faith is my armor being on, getting an upgraded leather/mail armor from the ghost will really help you in prisons, especially if you augment it for defense (and an entanglement glyph also helps)
- To expand on the previous point, defense stops being reliable after you're done with prisons, so if you have a defense augment on your armor, either switch your armor or switch to an evasion augment
- Ranged damage (wands and throwing weapons) is king in 9chal and so is movement speed (ring of haste basically trivializes 9chal)
- Start using your torches on floor 3 onwards, some people say it's better to not use them in sewers at all but I don't recommend it at all, you need vision on crabs since they move faster than you (you don't need torches against Tengu, and I personally never use them against Goo or DM-300, either)
Subclasses for 9chal:
Warrior: no lol
Mage: depends on your wand, both are viable
Rogue: freerunner (mostly wands)
Huntress: sniper (enchant bow and throwables)
Duelist: monk (also mostly wands)
There's much more nuance to 9chals like kiting and identifying stuff but that takes longer to explain and I already ran out of characters so like yeah I work here
Assorted Scroll tips:
Scrolls that affect all visible enemies can be made to hit every enemy on a floor with a potion of mind vision. This includes: Lullaby, Rage (very fun way to eliminate demon spawners, the ripper demons will immediately murder it for you), Psionic Blast/Retribution, and Terror/Dread
Siren's Song is particularly useful on Mimics, Armored/Armed Statues, and other powerful enemies with valuable loot. Not only will they fight to the death for you permanently on that floor but they will usually drop whatever loot they were holding.
Mirror Image scrolls do not have a limit to how many can be active at once AFAIK, so spamming them can lead to an army of duplicates of yourself to confuse enemies like using Double Team in Pokemon.
Scrolls of Teleportation will never send you into hidden secret rooms like alchemy labs, armories, libraries, gardens, etc, but can send you into hidden rooms connected to the rest of the dungeon but not otherwise discovered yet.
Always keep a Magic Mapping scroll handy for the Caves side quest, this will save you valuable hunger and time.
(has this been posted?) How to kill Goo with either a slow weapon or badder bosses? Since you only have one turn to escape its pump-up, make sure to stand next to a tile it can't see to retreat to it (examples in the image). Find a loop with many of these spots and a little water on or next to it. Run from spot to spot, only attacking in them. Goo won't pump up if it's not next to you after you move, so you can kite as much as you want (as long as you don't fat finger and give it a free turn).
Correction: not exctly the tile it can't see but rather the tile that don't have explicitly clear space for it to attack (The first example goo can see the ticked spot but can't attack due to being obstructed, the reverse is alao true)
Not sure if this has been posted before, but you can hit an enemy two times with the boomerang. If you hit it, and then they move to the spot where the boomerang is about to return to, they get hit again when the boomerang returns.
but this doesn't always work? or there's some caveat to it, because sometimes an enemy walks into the place where the boomerang is flying and it just gets there, doesn't hit or miss
Pretty sure it's always work
There seems to be some inconsistency that sometimes the boomerang return before enemy walked into the tile and vice versa
kill all enemies in a sudden by dread scroll and mind vision potion:control mind vision to 2 turns, read dread scroll downstairs and just wait a while
You can extinguish green fire (special room) with only icecap if there's water near fire (so that the seed doesn't burn)
if there isn't, use swifthhistle or an hourglass to plant and activate the icecap instantly, before it can burn
Stones of Flock can also be used to disable some types of trap rooms, namely ones involving dart and explosive traps. Just in case you don't have aqua blast or remove trap stones
Understanding level borders
In shattered, each floor has a border. You can learn that by using magic mapping on a chasm floor; what you will see is a blue rectangle being the chasm tiles. You can't go beyond it - each floor is actually a rectangle like that. The floor border seems to hug the level layout quite closely - imagine it being like wrapping all the rooms of a floor (rooms, aka the rectangles inside the walls that define each room) with the smallest possible rectangle, then extending it 2 tiles in each cardinal direction. If you know the level border and it seems to extend too much in some direction, beyond the rooms you know + 2 tiles, then that probably means (probably because i didn't verify this is how it works in code, just experiments) that there is a secret room somewhere there that causes the border to extend farther.
So, how do you identify the border easily? One method is utilising trickshots (a good resource to learn about them is supernewb's The Complete Newb Adventurer's Guide). How? Well, if you choose to throw an item on some tile that's outside the border (click there), the first thing the game will do is snapping the tile so it isn't outside it, instead processing your throw as if you threw an item on a tile that's closer to you. Now, all of this is just theory, so here is a practical example that I think explains this best. All of this is best utilised if you try it yourself and get a grasp of how things seem to work.
I'm on floor 5, huntress. I want to find the rat king. I'm currently in this room; it is the room that is the farthest one to the left that I know of, so I'll try to see whether the left border of the floor hugs this room - if it doesn't, I know that probably this room has the rat king entrance on the left (i could just search for it, but this is more hunger efficient). (second part of the message in production, waiting for slowmode to end so I can post the image)
To do that, I'll stand where you see me standing on the image. Now, if you read supernewb's guide, you'll know that if I shoot on the spot presented in the first image, my arrow will hit the wall in the middle of the room; if I shoot on the spot presented in the second image, it'll hit the left wall of the room. I'll use the spirit bow and tap on the spot in the second image. Now:
- If my arrow hits the inside wall, then that means that the game actually didn't process my shot as if I shot on that spot; the only explanation of this is that the spot got snapped in to fit inside the level borders. So that spot must be outside the border; that'd mean that the left border in fact does hug this room pretty closely, and rat king can't possibly be there.
- If my arrow hits the left wall, the spot didn't get snapped in. That means it is inside the level borders, so the level border doesn't hug that room, and as thus rat king is somewhere there on the left, waiting to be discovered. I go to the left border of the room to search for it, and voila! He was there all that time.
Dumb that down for me im not so smart
I mean the usage of it just boils down the second message. Attempt a trickshot thatd require you to tap 3 tiles outside the room. If it fails, that tile is outside border. If it succeeds, it is inside border
Flock - Can use to block paths, or box yourself with it to minimize the enemies getting close to you. you can also use flock + shock stone to recharge your wands really fast and For disintegration wand
Rage - primarily used for DK at 2nd stage for all minions to attack him and also for fists
Shock - recharge wands and paralyze em if you need a little time
Fear - mainly used for DM alternatives: Stormvine and ice seed
Stone of intuition - use em when you need to ID an item for puzzle rooms
Clairvoyance - can also be used in The mines to have a easier way to find gold
Deep sleep - can be used to avoid or minimize the enemies that can damage you
The flock stone thing with disint is an actual trick with flock stones but everything else you mentioned is just what the item does
It wouldn't necessarily be a trick or something

Fear also works well for when you get stuck in situations where you can't avoid ranged attackers
Yep
Deep sleep is the stronger version, I also often use it to deal with stuff like projecting golem
Also a ward or ally in between you and a range attacker targetting you like cave wizards will make the enemy walk to you if it has a path
specifically thia only work if the enemy still have a reasonably short path toward you (so it wont work if you ward the choke point making you inaccessible)

yo, thats me
Depending on the situation it can be a good idea to exoticify ur unidentified potions. This makes paralytic gas positive and dragons breath is aimable and also cripples (i could be wrong tho i havent used it in forever), making it both more useful in combat and harmless to the player unless theyre on grass.
However keep in mind that frost and toxic gas both become more harmful to the player when exotic. Im not sure what would happen if you chugged snap freeze next to magic fire wall but they might cancel out which would make this a good idea for that situation. Chugging corrosive gas hurts but if ur high on hp and are being swarmed it can still help as u can walk like 3 tiles diagonally and be outside the gas radius.
Now for the dealbreaker: purity is much more valuable as exotic so if your starving and have purity unidentified that makes this an even better idea. This tip is very situation dependent but with some experience and strategising u can utilise this very effictively. Note that levitation becomes storm clouds which wont hurt u directly but i think it will wipe out any grass you're hiding behind
note that earthen armour, stamina and even farsight potions all provide useful buffs for significant amounts of time
Exotifying the experience potion from the 3-key choice room is a favorite for me
yes another case of you getting more long-term value from the exotic variant rather than wasting them by chugging normally
You can shield mirror images apparently
Tips to quickly remove spider web:
- Shoot Wand of disintegration
- Throw any non-perishable item on it
Best way to remove it is shuriken as it takes 0 turns to throw
Didn't know about Shuriken taking 0 turn! Thanks! But yea, I usually use throwable items. Will use Shuriken if I have it now 👍
you can also use shurikens to instantly remove the focus of dwarf monks, plus the shuriken dosnt lose durability when the monks parry it
*only if you moved as the previous action
When fighting against the DM-300 boss, if you have Wand of Warding, you can place one ward near each Power Pylon. When the boss becomes invulnerable, the ward that suddenly disappears is at the active Pylon.
The active Pylon would never be the one closest to you. If your Wand of Warding can only hold 2 wards and both don't disappear, then the Pylon without ward is the active one.
Or just look where the floor sparks points to determine where the active pylon is like a normal player
i think a better trick with warding is that placing a ward in the centre of DM300 map can hold dm's attention indefinitely. at least i think this works i havent tested it yet
It does
Place it such that it cannot trickshot DM but dm can see it
Doing at one of the corner is much better because you are free to choose which pylon you want to activate on each phase (The pylon is always the furthest from your current position)
Most people don't know that pressing the enemy counter focuses on them, and scrolls through them if there's more than 1. Works on any version including Vanilla and it's useful if you can't find them for some reason, I also just use it to see where not to go when I move.
Bro I saw this I swear you can't throw it..
Thats a bug yh
Normally corpse dust gives u no option to drop or remove (ie. It doesnt show at all)
I think it's supposed to have the red border 'cause it's cursed
Yeah it is a bug, probably somehow related with the undroppable oblivion shard bug too
the code definining the dust's actions was mysteriously removed in 2.5.1
probably a mistake? this is 100% getting patched out next minor update
it is already patched indev from what I know
honestly kind of curious how this happened. it's not preceded by any update that could have leftover changes for the commit
the shard bug wasn't being fixed until 2.5.2
an entire override just gone? and the surrounding whitespace is not adjusted
could it be... evan finally realized the most fun thing you can do with a public project is to randomly remove bits and confuse people? a bright future lies ahead
A vampiric reach weapon or bow paired with the rotberry quest is a source of infinite healing.
interesting why the rotberry quest
You can forever beat up the rot lashers with no chance of retaliation, allowing infinite healing from vampiric proce
Vampiric is a chance to heal from each attack, some people don't have the luck and rng praise to infinity heal
And You would actually need Vampiric to actually do this, not a common occurrence to get it, let alone on a drop from an enemy or natural

Would be impossible cause they Regen a lot lol
Definitely, discovered it this run and it's probably the first and last time I'll see this combination
Crazyy
Stones of Flock are one of the most underrated consumables in the game.
Boss Usage:
If you happen to find that pretty good corrosion wand, just trap Goo and spam it there. Basically SoMI is useless unless you want it for Prismatic Image. And early prismatic is very mid, so you're better off stocking on those flocks. Basically, good wand + flock= Free Runs
The other use case I can find is to make up for spears slow attack speed, trapping Goo and repeatedly farming hits there.
You might get a disintegration wand from the Wandmaker, so you can become a literal tank immune to damage for a good while against Tengu's first phase. Second Phase is recommended to trap Tengu, not urself.
DM-300 is basically free escapade. If you are smart, you shouldn't have problems dealing damage to Dm-300. So the only valid use case in immunity phase, and that's escape.
King is the boss that Flock can easily cheese. U can practically win the no weapons achievement right here and there. Just trap everyone, and throw potions. 2nd phase is also cheese because of toxic elixir, so you're fine over there. 3rd phase is literally flock potion spam.
Yog is a difficult boss to use flocks against. You have to be constantly on the move, because becoming a tank is useless. Trapping is also useless while in Fist mode. So the only use cases are trapping Fists, destroying them with wands. Other than that, there's also another lesser known use case.
While using scrolls of psionic blast, throw flocks down, and you practically get 0 dmg with mind potion. No chance of dying.
Also pretty handy for those trap rooms too!
Its the best stone to farm for in 9 chal runs.
Summary:
Flocks can be easily switched from tanking hits, creating escape routes and turning environment into a weapon. It can be used for the trap rooms, to block entities, disarm traps and etc.
Early prismatic is very much not mid and can help fight, if not solo goo. Plus how are you going to trap goo and hit it with a spear at the same time without trapping yourself?
Early prismatic + healing darts or adrenaline darts can clear tengu
It can fall off at caves or so but it pulls its weight sewers and prisons, so thats definitely misinformation
About the goo, I think u have to click the entity to hit. The sheep aren't considered entities via weaponry, if I remember correctly
(if it doesnt work then don't)
Early prismatic is like a real waste if you ask me, so why bother for a 25 HP ragdoll that costs valuable energy? Either you get a good armor in sewers to actually function as a distraction, rather than a fairly weak clone.
So early prismatic is like wasting 3 SoUs on that leather armor you have to ditch later. And sheep are better walls since they are practically immune to any form of damage, last a little while independent of floor level, your level, enemy etc.
So you are basically wasting energy and 2 easy escapes very early in a run.
You need a path to the enemy to be able to hit them with reach weapons, and just as how sheep block thrown weapons and missiles, they block that path so you cannot melee through sheep.
Prismatic image early on is an hp sponge so you dont have to tank damage early on
I believe it also has slightly higher defense than you do but I am unsure of that.
Armor isnt a thing with fima on, which is why prismatic works well as a dummy that can heal out of combat (especially considering the enemy dmg values early on are not as high, which allows prismatic to be decent early on)
No need to use the 3 SoUs on leather to use prismatic if that's what you're saying
And sheep can only block and stall by themselves. If you have nothing to go through sheep then whatever enemy was posing an issue may very well be an issue again later
It isn't a wasted escape because a prismatic image can fight through what you needed to escape from, at least early on
I guess you do have a point, but we aren't completely wrong on each of our sides.

Just messaging so that I can find it again
you can follow a discussion/thread without doing that
Pro corrosion wand tip:
never fire directly on enemies, always fire one tile near to them(gets more value)
if u fire directly enemies can outrun the gas flow
they will take 2 ticks of dmg instead of 3 if u fire directly
also the only way to find that ur ring is ring of elements is ur average magic enemy dealing less damage and less effective curses
👆🤓Uhm... Actually I think it's better to fire two tiles away from an approaching enemy, but only when the enemy moves vertically or horizontally because of how gas spreads
if its moving diagonally I shoot a tile that's adjacent to enemy's both next and second next turn for maximum coverage
(like an l shape)
VERY USEFUL TIP ON EARLY FLOORS!!
If you stand in a short hallway with a fly like this,
Your hits wont split them!!
It also works when there's an enemy or an Ally.
Lmao I usually need them to split to make them a little faster to kill, it also spreads out AoE damage if I have it
It's pretty annoying for me
Splitting is worth unless you are in a setup where multiple flies at once may attack you, aka outside a corridor.
Idk,I only use splitting on early regs sacrifice fire
spliting also technically increase the overall drop rate of the healing potion (or 6 alchemy energy if you are play with pharma on)
I thought it was the opposite? What is this based on?
Flies have 1/6 chance to drop PoH, each time it split the chance of each individual flies is decreaaed to 1/7, 1/8, etc.
Also, its better to split them as you will recieve less hits and you will have more finish hits
Mystery meat tip!
While by itself,It can cause random effects and gives a 1/2 of your satiety(aka from starving to hungry,And from hungry to full),But you can actually cook or freeze the mystery meat by dropping it,Planting a firebloom or icecap under it,And then throwing a random item at it(NOT SCROLLS OR POTIONS)
It'll automatically cook it into a "Chargrilled steak" or a "Frozen Carpaccio"!
Frozen meat is always better because it can give either healing, invisibility, barkskin, or nothing. Steak always just gives nothing.
Oh yea,I never realised that
Or just cook it raw at the pot (freezing is better)
Or cooking it, either raw, chargrilled, frozen or cooked, with a pasty and a ration, to make a meat pie
mystery meat actually gives only one third satiety. Max satiety is 450, rations give 300, pasties give 450, and mystery meat only gives 150
I never knew it in math numbers tbh
Not the typa guy to check the code to atleast
What about purity potion?
purity is full hunger, and is unaffected by diet, so always 450 satiety
does hunger exactly translate to turns? ex. 450 turns needed to go starving from full satiety
Yes
Salt cube can get you 900 turns of well fed btw
Oh damn yeah
But not possible with on diet chal
Can someone check if this is true
-# posted it here because it seems like a neat trick for minmaxing
I did it in debug. Started with 18 energy and ended with 32, so i gained 14
Also did this with t4 throwies and I gained 10 energy (5 liquid metal left), but if you do this with 6 of them, you get 22 energy
3x t3 give 8 energy
3x t2 give 4 energy 5 liquid metal left
Even t1 give 2 energy
