No idea why but 1.17.1 would not run on the computer, so tried to reinstall. It said it needed to uninstall previous version and instead it just deleted the whole Maptool folder which had several other installations in their own folders under it along with resources for all rpgs that we run on Maptool. Lost all resources and previous installs that resided in that folder.

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear that. There’s a warning on the download page for 1.17.1 that warns about this: https://github.com/RPTools/maptool/releases/tag/1.17.1
This is an area that the Java package creator doesn’t give many options on, unfortunately.
Yikes, that sucks. Good practice to save resources in a different location and reference in MT. Also, installing in to new folder is also a good practice. I also recommend saving campaign in to new file each time or once per week. You should pretty much always separate your external resources from any installed program and their app folders.
Check your OS recycle bin to recover assets. And, in the future, use the newer ZIP installation files for your OS. That method does not do a traditional "install" of the application. You can easily have many versions of MT installed (into separate folders) and you don't need to uninstall... you just delete the install folders you don't want anymore. That way your installation folders will never be messed with again.
Yeah, it was just strange. Everything was in a folder called maptool but each installation had its own folder underneath. It just took out the whole folder with the uninstall. Luckily the other stuff was backed up. Just thought it might be good for others to know that it happened.
