so if you heal a party member for 10hp you can deal 10 damage to creature

In Project Monsoon (my own Rain World TTRPG), I gave Scavengers bonuses to dodge and grip, but they lose the mouth inventory slot.
As for traits, I came up with two unique ones:

closest thing would be abilities that drain food, and the blessing system... which is probably getting removed/completely reworked
Karma's sitting at an odd place in Project Monsoon. Its only use at the moment is death penalty reduction.
I'm not sure whether having traits that use Karma would be a good idea.
If it is, I have four ideas:
- Karmic Wrath: Increases damage dealt to a single target. Lasts until death, doesn't stack.
- Karmic Gluttony: Instantly consumes your fill of a corpse, or all food items in your inventory. (Latter might be more useful if I added cooking)
- Karmic Bond: (Making taming easier, and knowing about their status/location from now on?)
- Karmic Life: Healing a target considerably.
i don't think we've encountered a karma gate thus far
in the previous campaign, there was a karma 10 gate (guardians) though that was needed to ascend

im thinking you can attach a rotling for 1 food pip or deattach it for free
if you have 3 attached you get an extra action
1 extra hand slot for each rotling attached because of rot limbs
entire extra action may be too strong so it could be a non combat action like riv
does a player count as their own tamed creature
In PM, Slugcats and Scavengers don't have taming difficulties listed, so you wouldn't be able to tame yourself.

yeah sure
i did the 2 food pips to attach and detach to balance out how powerful it is but
i think the risk of rotlings dying works way better
ill tweak it a bit in a little
but a 12 food pip risk for an action is a good tradeoff
