I was seeing a lot of interpretations that basically boiled down to the show paralleling the short story entirely, and it just didnt seem that Good as a concept

I dont think that that would make any sense thematically as an ending, although I could see a minor antagonist role being taken

especially since the show is meant to be ultra character-focused (specifically Jax and Pomni), I feel like a big part of the runtime will be resolving Jax's whole arc in some capacity

if I had to predict an ending, it would probably be something akin to them using the Power of Friendship and Imagination™ to conjure up a more suitable world to live in together (albeit trapped because it's more or less confirmed that theyre just programs)

• Caine at least gave them something to do
• They restart Caine’s program somehow
• Caine’s new program has no memories, so they train him from ground zero into a healthier relationship

I feel like whatever the outcome of the final episode is, there will be some twist or question that comes up that never gets resolved though
