Uh... since you seem to be in a situation I can drop a direct answer to finding portals:
||once you hibernate in a region you should see strings in the ripplespace upon waking up. Follow the trail and it should lead you to the portal. If it leads you to a sealed one that would be a sign that your game is a bit broken||
