Okay-- so it's been about 2 years since I've played this game I think, and my first playthrough was a co-op with a very experienced player.. This is a save I think I was doing while we played?? I understand this is a game about exploration and learning and stuff, but I am completely turned around and I couldn't remember which way I was on my way to. I don't know where I've been but (by looking at the map), I can tell that I'm at ||the shoreline||.

Honestly it might be worth starting a new save if you don't remember much-

If you don't want to lose your current save, you can go to settings to find the save file options, and select a different file. You have 3 total available.

If you don't want to do that, we could totally try jogging your memory on what things you've done based on looking where you've been so far

I'll probably go back to the other one once I get a grasp of what I'm doing because I was able to play as the monk on that save and I think that means I've beaten the game before..??

Monk and Survivor are the two that are unlocked by default

#

Survivor is the default, and Monk, though it does have some small differences otherwise, is essentially the Survivor "easy mode"

#

Note that this does not mean it is truly "easy" on a first playthrough, so go with whichever one you'd prefer

Last thing that happened is that I went to the top of the industrial complex and got all nice and full.. and then immediately after eating my last batfly, I was snatched by not one but TWO vultures slugpensive

So we’re back on the grind— and here’s the plan

this is the map I have currently

I want to go deeper and more to the right, but there’s kelp in the water divots there

It’s very dark, I have no food, and spiders / scary black and white lizards are everywhere (I’m gonna call them mole lizards)

The plan is to bring a spear to get the first kelp out of the way so I can grab the second and bolt

#

But that means I have to spend one more night in the same hole methinks

#

Because it’ll make it easier to horde spears

#

…which means I gotta find food
and I’m not confident I’ll be able to

I died and had to redo all of my progress like.. 3 times because I didn’t realize that there was a hole right behind the gate

So like.. I set my spawn in a hole AT the gate, but died behind it and had to go all the way back AGAIN to get my level high enough to get through

There are air plants to the aforementioned unexplored area all the way to the right, but the only way to have that and swim with the squid is to swallow it and spit it out when I need it

It's a really nice and fascinating place, but quite hard to explore.
A lot of the time, when you play Rain World, the game can be difficult, but not outright unreasonable. If you find yourself in a situation where you're stuck dying over and over in one same place, it might be because you're missing something. It can be quite frustrating when you hit a pretty hard wall. saintpensive

In cases like this, it's better to pull back and assess your situation. What you want to do, where you want to go and what paths you can take to get there. There is always more than one path in Rain World towards your destination. gourmthumbsup

Progress is not always massured in how many checkpoints you paws, or how many creatures you kill. Least of all in Rain World.

Here, progress is more likely measured in knowledge and experience.

You now know that this place is here, that it is very difficult to explore and has a lot of underwater sections. You won't leave empty handed. You leave with this knowledge and experience, so next time you come back here, you'll do so a bit more ready to tackle the region. You can always return when you feel a little more confident. This big hunk of a submerged labyrinth isn't going anywhere. monkcheese
