#What were the devs thinking adding this blatant softlock??
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The gap is crossable, I can start with that
There are multiple methods, not just the long jumpers can assist
If you're absolutely positive there are none of those jumpers where you're coming from, you might seek out something that might give you more momentum
If you can think of something that might give you slightly more distance, I can leave you to it, but otherwise here's my hint/recommendation;
||throwing items will launch you farther during a jump||
I hear that online but its blatantly false
the difference must be so small it doesn't matter
It's a pretty small difference yeah
Makes the jump go from impossible to tight
(And tbh I absolutely despise this jump and avoid it)
Are you coming from the left side or the right side?
There are no softlocks in RW
this is untrue but I found a way out
I guess using "passage" is a way to get out of any softlocking situation however
There are no softlocks
if you keep saying that it doesn't make it any more true
I have almost 1k hours in RW
I know what Im talking about
Youre using the term very loosely if you think being unable to make a jump with your current skill level counts as a softlock
That jump can't be made with your basic kit you need buffs
its lucky I found one in the last room
There. Are. No. Softlocks.
There are always multiple ways for a given puzzle, some niche ones even require zero tools
there are no softlocks
And if you can't solve the way through a given room you can always turn around and take another route
The game is nonlinear
I don't care I just finished the game
I did it I beat my nemesis game
I beat it my own way
You can beat it while skipping almost every region
ooo nice!!
Congrats
I know there's an optimal path but it took me 91 ingame days to finish it
I spent too much time lost
you were supposed to be lost, thats part of the intended experience
I kinda wish I hadn't got lost in some places tho 😂
The shoreline is like King Von
Skipping every region is less an optimal path and more a speedrun approach that removes most of the experience
.. fair
yeah
I think the only region I missed was Garbage Wastes
I think I got the rest of them
your first game is meant to be.. not very optimal
there won't be another game
The first one was like getting skid marks over my whole body
Anyway, awesome that you beat the first slugcat
it's the tip of the iceberg and there are more slugcats which bring whole new stories, goals and environments to the table, but if you had a rough experience we'll understand if you don't continue
BUT we will be really, really eager in the scenario that you did
I wanted to play hard mode when I first got the game but it didn't let me play the red one with no save files
Hunter is more than a "hard mode"
All I know is that you can't eat plants anymore
you can only eat other animals
which is enough of a challenge
The game also has two dlcs that add a truckload of material
Oh hell no
the first game was enough of a punishment
it took me almost a full year to beat
Hunting for prey can be cool
I hate hunting I wanna be a bitch
Combat is really fun when you get the hang of it
I ran from EVERY encounter except the few mandatory tentacle monster kills you have to do in Shaded Citadel
That was pretty dope tho
They too are not mandatory to kill but it is effective to
if you hated this experience you probably shouldnt get the dlc
I didn't think you could avoid them on the way to overpass
you would have to kill them to go thru the water
both the dlcs are very good tho. if you like the game
The downpour dlc sticks out for being Rainworld: The Game in vibe
It is more goal oriented and traditional gamey
And has a bit more linearity
It was the most memorable part of the game, besides killing the robot on the beach and meeting 5
oh yeah and the weird ass running people
Shaded Citadel and Overpass are the best part of the game and its not even close
I have that version of the game but I played the campaign
but on the title screen it says Rain World Downpour
I could name places where it has shortfalls but that's not for me to say
I would like if it had more music however
More music?
that's a new one lol
It's a pretty music based game with a jillion tracks
You have to understand my POV, the game has pretty decent music but you hear it for like a total of like 1 hour out of all of it, most of it is either just ambiance or the extrasensory music
not actual melodic tracks
It would make the game a lot more fun if it had music
One of the tracks has a saxophone solo
Which one is that, I hardly heard any of them since they only play once
I just think some music would help when so much of the gameplay is based on waiting

esp the farm array, that area needs it a lot
I remember this song
it played during Hitlee's level (Sky Islands)
Farm has, from my memory, 5 unique tracks, and the threat theme
Though ambient tracks have trigger conditions such as entering specific rooms, so missing em can happen
One of if not the best ost of base game rainworld
I mean. It is a softlock in the sense that they don't have any way (that they know of) to survive that cycle from the point shown. But when we say "softlock" we mean a point where you cannot continue the save file.
It always makes me so sad to see someone not enjoy Rain World 🥹
Like, it's a game that's designed in such a way that it's not fun for everyone, but... it's so peak if you are able to enjoy it
More relevantly, I think, the important point is that this particular path is not one-way (even if it was, it wouldn't be a softlock anyways unless you're also unable to leave a different way, which isn't the case here)
Buffs
?
Nvm they left the server I think
Why?
They didn't seem to like the game
~~ I mean they weren't exactly the nicest~~
You can say that again
Everyone has their own interests, and there has never been a game in history that no one disliked
Yeah
I wasn't much better on my first playthrough I'm happy I didn't make a thread cuz I would have been probably banned
I know it's sad but it's perhaps for the best
Also cuz I used to have the shortest fuse ever ig
That's why I now hate certain creatures
👀
🦎 👀
Let's have a watch . . .
Am i
This is legendary
Ik
Lizard in front? Just roll over em!
Doesn't have spoilers tho
I thought slugcats weren't spoilers?
I would say the action performed here is a spoiler-
But I am aware of this stuff, yaeh
I don't consider movement a spoiler
I'm cooked....
No it's just because Downpour
Let's keep the gif because it's too good to remove 🥹
I'm with the felper here
