Ultrakill lore thought: looking throughout fraud and across the game as a whole, one thing I’ve realized is only one (active) being shows any care.
That being is Hell Itself. Hell through it’s torment is showing its care to god, to Lucifer, to all within it, and it’s gifts to V1 through the enemies it places in the machine’s path shows it cares about what the angels view as nothing more than a piece of scrap. Hell cares in its weird, twisted way.

Another thing I believe is Hell wants to Impress God, who it sees as its father. The problem is it can only show its own love through torment, and can only speak through cruelty, a tragic irony as that caused God to feel despair at the Child he had created.

The interesting part is that there's a lot of ideas flaunted that ULTRAKILL is Gabriel's story, you're just the catalyst to get the plot moving.

That you aren't important, only your role is.

Through Fraud, Hell tells you, "No."

"I see you."

"I see what you are made for."

In the weirdest, most twisted way, it's showing Fraud to you.

You, specifically, get to see this place.

You get to see what it thinks.

You get to see what it feels.

And with the 8-3 space bit, Hell isn't really only showing off what it can do.

In Paradiso, the planets are considered layers of heaven, I think?

Which could be Hell showing that what God can do, it can do too.

But it's not really about showing off, to me.

It's showing you the Universe in all of its glory because even then, all eyes are on you.

It's basically telling you that you are the center of the universe. You are important to it.

8-4 reinforces this.

You're on a stage, this whole time. This entire thing was a play.

ULTRAKILL is a show, and you are the lead performer.

Also, if you look at the stage, it looks like an eye from above.

@solar crag - I have discovered more weird shit around Deathcatchers.

One, they behave similarly to idols.

Yes, this much is known, but did you know that you can dunk them?

It won't kill them, no.

But you can, in fact, shoot a cannonball at them and dunk it too.

Works on both deathcatchers and idols.

Two, they don't behave the same as idols, in that idols need to not be blind so as to actually give its protection.

Deathcatchers, for some reason, work anyway even with blind enemies on.

And three...

This is the most devious of them all.

If an idol is in the vicinity of multiple deathcatchers, they will revive multiple copies of the idol.

Each idol can idol a new, different enemy.

I hope Hakita hasn't thought of this or seen it.

This shit will so be used in P-3 if he has.

Envision this.

Another super evil room.

And then you get to break the idol.

And then multiple deathcatchers bring it back to life.

It might be too evil, considering deathcatchers are indiscriminate in their reviving and would probably not work because they can just revive whatever it was that the idol was protecting.

But, like, it would be evil.

If Hakita made it work somehow.

the way it works is through a specific checkpoint reload that allows us the break the level and get oob repeatedly and easily and attack a deathcatcher's root and reload enlessly

the mirror reaper is the only absolutely required kill cuz the exit doesnt load without it dead

this also allows you to beat 8-2 sub minute if you just oob and then head over to mirror reaper
