manic siren
#

yeah just wanna do everything in order

somber fox
#

wouldnt it be funny if you did watcher right now

vestal granite
#

It is a veteran's campaign

somber fox
#

just to be quirky and weird

manic siren
#

who knows rivevil

vestal granite
manic siren
#

also what's your subjective opinions on these stats

#

i don't take skill criticism seriously, just curious

vestal granite
#

They're pretty decent

#

4000 is a good number for a first time

somber fox
#

also technically completely pointless as a metric as a lot of people say

vestal granite
#

Yeah it's really arbitrary

somber fox
#

since there's no like time limit and such

manic siren
#

yep also true

somber fox
#

so it just goes up the longer you play

#

and you did go plenty of places

vestal granite
#

You can easily go back into the game and continue increasing it

manic siren
#

i'm glad there's a death counter after all :p

vestal granite
#

The stats screen was originally just for one campaign, where it is more relevant

manic siren
#

oof that's cool

#

i'm ascended

somber fox
#

huh

#

you missed a dot on the wanderer i thought you went everywhere tbh

somber fox
#

oh oops

manic siren
#

didn't go there

#

know they exist though

#

i'm gonna try and find the precipice on the menu map

vestal granite
#

Fun region slugnom

somber fox
#

ooh please find precipice thats a funny one

vestal granite
#

12 minutes.

somber fox
#

oh i forgot about that

manic siren
#

oh actually, i do have to say that i've been catching quite a few spoilers on miscellaneous things by watching a streamer, maybe they affected how i progressed

#

it's not much

#

but i do know there are scavengers and green ophiuras in the wastess

somber fox
#

playthrough thread irrevocably ruined wow

#

smh

manic siren
#

i mentioned it before btw :p

vestal granite
#

Yeah l do recommend ataying away from content creators especially with dlc campaigns

manic siren
#

yeah i only watched until the point i reached

#

basically most of the spoilers were from the chat which i tried not to look at

#

anyway, it didn't feel like it ruined much

#

so i'm content :p

vestal granite
#

Chat always spoiling the show lol

manic siren
#

so much backseating too :D

#

glad the guy had "no spoilers" policy and didn't read anything

somber fox
#

rw comments can get kinda bad

manic siren
#

can't find the precipice yet, maybe i'm blind

somber fox
#

maybe it helps if you imagine the rw map as a whole

#

and where stuff is where

manic siren
#

in my head, the exterior and the 5p were the easternmost regions :D

somber fox
#

dang, hmm

#

ok what if you trace your steps into exterior

vestal granite
#

Was there ever a point you went so east, you smacked a dead end?

somber fox
#

he he

#

dead end

manic siren
#

shoreline, citadel checked

#

outskirts checked

#

i could've simply overlooked it

#

can't zoom out the map unfortunately :p

somber fox
#

it might be kinda offscreen

manic siren
#

found it

#

i just thought it would in the top east corner

#

hmm

#

i really have to draw the map's regions on paper to understand it better

#

don't wanna look up the map yet cuz i haven't explored everything

vestal granite
#

Good idea monksilly

#

We'd love to see your interpretation

manic siren
#

i was looking at the screenshots earlier and noticed this

#

the cities in the background

#

i didn't see them at first

vestal granite
manic siren
#

thought the rectangular structure is something else, unrelated

#

but it's the biggest hint actually

#

i think the structure i'm in looks the same

vestal granite
#

Just dropping this screenshot here...

manic siren
#

oh right

#

i would never realize the structures on the top were buildings :D

#

thought it was a processor thingy or smt

#

anyway, time to compile the data during shower thoughts

#

monk/hunter awaits

manic siren
#

a shitload of questions remain unanswered still (all are rhetorical)

#

how does this world works

#

what's the history of the civilization that built all this

#

what's this underground heaven-like sea inhabited by creatures

rigid stone
manic siren
#

and a very big one, probably sapient, the size of 1000 leviathans

#

which helped me get really deep

#

to my kind

#

it was kinda reminiscent of a creature i saw in some anime

#

can't remember now

#

why are there so many slugcats down there

#

how did they all get here

#

why are we even special as a species

#

a lot to think about

#

i have at least 2 gates unaccessible for now

#

need more karma levels i think

#

the two robots are also a big deal

#

i'll just draw for now, what i've explored so far

#

idk how big it'll be so it's better to use paint ig

somber fox
#

i wanna see your mspaint map monksilly

manic siren
#

i think what i'll do eventually, is explore the entirety of the map, complete all passages, open everything as survivor, and then i won't be so completionist with other slugcats

#

but idk i might change my mind 100 times more

manic siren
somber fox
#

add garbage wastes too, but only if you dont know the connections and general location so its extra fun y

manic siren
#

bruh wth is safari lol (rhetorical)

#

it's itching in the back of my mind

#

wait WHAT

#

what is that tunnel

#

i'm gonna lose my mind lmao

#

imagine it's a scavenger hideout with spears

#

just for no reason

#

:D

somber fox
#

if you can find a way to go there thatd be impressive

rigid stone
#

The mysterious zeroth room saintsmirk

somber fox
#

hard to do blind

manic siren
#

i don't remember if the terrain is spear-friendly, but i guess squid (if you can get one here) + spears? gotta experiment

#

i didn't have much experience with grappling tongues also

#

animal transportation between regions seems like a real pain :D

manic siren
#

MY GOD

#

i just fucking discovered the safari, challenges and sandbox

#

i thought "arena" was only the competitive thing

#

bruhhh

#

the ui is my strongest enemy in this game xD

somber fox
#

why arent you pressing all the buttons grrr

#

wheres your adventuring spirit

manic siren
#

my brain didn't even process these arrow buttons :D

#

blind spot

somber fox
#

ooh are you gonna look at the things here

manic siren
#

i'm afraid of the spoilers, but i played around in safari a bit

#

not gonna try anything else yet

somber fox
#

there shouldn’t be blatant spoilers btw

rigid stone
#

well I mean you can use safari to explore the map

somber fox
#

well safari def might

manic siren
#

well there are monk and hunter challenges

rigid stone
#

And yeah some of the challenges rely on obscure mechanics and stuff.

somber fox
#

ok the challenges also i forgot about those those might be spoilery

#

ok nvm there might be spoilers

rigid stone
#

Also I think even in Arena mode you can occasionally get rare creatures.

somber fox
#

oh

#

well anyway

rigid stone
#

Sandbox is safe, though.

manic siren
#

anyway

#

i have a lot of stuff to do in the main game :D

#

wait what i just realized the map is layered

#

my paint knowledge is not that proficient xD

#

uhh need to think

#

guess it'll be much simpler than i planned

#

okay

manic siren
#

hmm, i expected for the mark to disappear or something

#

not sure how to get the karma levels for those two gates if the mark is blocking everything

vestal granite
manic siren
#

hm

#

maybe i'm seeing other slugcats' lives when i'm dreaming

#

third time already

#

and i'm even deeper than the last time

#

the blind lizards are way more perceptive and faster than i remember

#

weird

mild marten
#

dang i missed it rivsob

#

WELCOME TO THE 11%!!! watcherParty

manic siren
#

thanks!

#

hope at some point this percent will be bigger

#

the filtration system is crazy

#

it's the most intimidating region when you look at the map

vestal granite
#

Downpour tripled its size

manic siren
#

oof i found the place when i first starved and then died in the drainage system

#

this was also my first introduction to dark areas

#

you know what, i'll just follow my instincts and be whimsical

#

i'm gonna start doing the hunter

#

i'm definitely gonna come back to survivor for the sake of completion

#

i'm just too curious to try different things

rigid stone
manic siren
#

first playthrough and miscellaneous

#

i love this art

vestal granite
#

Rotund

manic siren
#

bruh, challenges are tough, or it's just because of me playing left-handed

#

but they're really a great way to train yourself

#

or maybe it was just gathering for some reason

manic siren
#

2 and 7 were the hardest

#

that's it with challenges for now

manic siren
#

so far i'm just being slow-paced and playing off my vibes; currently i feel like running around as survivor and getting used to regions so that every region feels familiar

#

i started with trying to survive in the filtration system

#

just eating and progressing cycles until i feel comfortable in this area

manic siren
#

i've noticed that a lot of mechanical pieces look like unfortunate blue blobs, and this cross symbol is almost everywhere

#

this can't be a coincidence

#

i also often remember how the yellow eye warned me not to eat the weak robot's prions and gave me a hologram showing ❌

#

but he used an 8-cornered yellow shape instead of a circle underneath that cross

manic siren
#

yeah

#

forgot this word

#

or maybe it was 6-cornered, idk

#

i was busy obliviously devouring the thingys

vestal granite
#

Gluttonous beast

rigid stone
manic siren
#

it's kinda tricky to remember these in english cuz in my language these figures are literally called "8-cornered", "6-cornered" :D

vestal granite
#

To be fair hexagon and octagon also mean six corner eight corner

rigid stone
#

according to Wikipedia English actually technically does the same thing except in Greek so it doesn't make sense to us

vestal granite
#

Just of another language

#

Yeah that

manic siren
#

it's kinda indicative of the way i've been playing survivor in this game, just a lost and nervous slugcat-foreigner causing trouble because of language barrier: not understanding the weak robot's language and eating his prions; not understanding what "toll" means and slaughtering 6 scavengers only to get to another shelter

vestal granite
#

English is full of terminology from latin and greek

rigid stone
#

pentagon hexagon heptagon octagon nonagon

manic siren
#

pentagon helps cuz it's, you know, Pentagon

vestal granite
#

Going into an airport and spearing everyone because they just asked for your ticket rivflabbergasted

manic siren
#

although there are a lot of helpful words actually

#

like octopus

manic siren
#

my native language is spears

#

and rocks

rigid stone
vestal granite
#

Octopus, eight legs in greek monksilly

manic siren
#

yeah i haven't even begun to comprehend the language(s) in this game :D that's some deep stuff

rigid stone
manic siren
#

in the first few hours of playing this game i kinda thought it could be related to Chinese hieroglyphs, but then they got crazier

vestal granite
manic siren
#

hexember would be the new november cuz of witchcraft

rigid stone
manic siren
#

ah right, the great Moth Empire

#

the best of them all

#

i'm still astounded at how capable the slugcats are

#

regardless of how godlike the robed robot is, he managed to make a slugcat understand language

rigid stone
# manic siren imagine Hexember

Unember Diober Triember Quadrember Quintember Hexember September October November December Decunember Decdiober
I wholeheartedly support this decision monksilly

rigid stone
#

since you still use those words as numbers

manic siren
#

if you think about it in terms of what the player can do in this game, the slugcats's hearing is greater than blobs' or blind lizards' hearing, they have incredible spacial perception and photographic memory, better eyesight than anyone else too (except for seeing in the dark); they have very strong limbs judging by how powerful the spear throws are, and by the ability to hang onto a pole after falling a distance that would normally kill you

vestal granite
#

Uno dos tres cuatro cinco seis siete ocho nueve diez

manic siren
#

at least this month system is already so popular that almost no one argues about it

#

or at least i haven't seen anyone do

#

some slavic languages do have their own native names for months tho

rigid stone
vestal granite
#

Yeah those are First Second Third etc

manic siren
#

Primember

#

or just Primer

rigid stone
manic siren
#

huh

#

bruh i googled it

rigid stone
#

so still latin-derived

manic siren
#

english is the type of language when you make up any word and it turns out to have existed for some time already

#

so much vocabulary it's insane

vestal granite
#

English is an amalgamation of a lot of old european languages

rigid stone
manic siren
#

yeah and it's very multicultural nowadays too

vestal granite
#

In addition to greek and latin there's also many norse words

manic siren
#

so like half the word contributes to creating more and more of new words

#

and adding new meanings to old words too

rigid stone
manic siren
#

wiktionary's gonna explode at some point

rigid stone
# manic siren like octopus

the fact that that word exists means it's pretty easy for English speakers to figure out that octo means eight
the rest don't have any etymologically-obvious use outside of the shapes from what I can think of

#

I will admit I had to look up "heptagon" to check monksilly

manic siren
#

yeah i haven't seen "hepta" often

#

hex does associate with bees for some reason

rigid stone
manic siren
#

not sure what word is the reason

rigid stone
manic siren
#

ik the cells are hexagons

#

but like

#

there was another word

#

related to hex

rigid stone
#

Bees live in hives but I don't think that's related?

manic siren
rigid stone
manic siren
#

no idea

rigid stone
#

otherwise this conversation would've been over way sooner

manic siren
#

yep :p

rigid stone
manic siren
#

as a person whose language is often dominated by pedants, communicating with people became problematic after linguistics became my hobby

#

like, just talk the way you want people rivsob

rigid stone
#

then again I'm not a bee expert

vestal granite
#

Well bees are insects and the scientific name of the group containing insects is Hexapoda [six feet]

rigid stone
#

OH interesante

vestal granite
#

For seven instead of hepta l also often see septa

manic siren
rigid stone
manic siren
#

or maybe i'm having a brainfart and it came from elsewhere

rigid stone
vestal granite
#

An alternative for hex also starts with s but l probably can't type that out leditoroverload

manic siren
vestal granite
somber fox
#

what did you think “toll” meant the first time

rigid stone
#

Like, etymologicallly? uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

somber fox
#

wait i meant to reply post sry

somber fox
rigid stone
#

ah

manic siren
#

like some kind of symbolic tribal place

somber fox
#

ah oki

rigid stone
manic siren
#

i knew the word before, but it disappeared from my mind for a while

somber fox
#

was there a it sounded like totem kinda or is that just coincidence

manic siren
#

idk what was happening in my subconsciousness :p

rigid stone
manic siren
#

i named that thing "totem" only later, but my brain might've drawn a connection which i didn't process

somber fox
#

well its still kinda a totem

#

but i dunno what qualifies as one anyway

rigid stone
#

uhhhhhhhhhhh

manic siren
#

a little teensy fraud

#

which left only one scavenger alive

rigid stone
#

I guess I would define a "totem" as any at least vaguely humanoid figurine/statue? IDK

#

and the outposts aren't that so

rigid stone
manic siren
#

tall totem for tolls

#

i told them no toll

somber fox
#

apparently the google definition is more lax

manic siren
#

but they started throwing spears at me

somber fox
#

you need to be at least this tall to cross

manic siren
#

they're searching for a messiah candidate

#

also, it wasn't a good thinking to hold piles of grenades and exploding spears and be very concentrated around a certain area

#

they were asking for it :p

#

"let's send a guy for intel, and of course give him a bomb because it definitely won't be stolen and used against us"

#

"yeah let's do that"

#

jokes aside, it was actually pretty difficult

manic siren
#

idea: to try and steal/eat all neurons (i now know they're neurons) at five pebbles and see if it has any effect on the robed guy, since they seem to be essential for his kind's existence

#

if they don't respawn, at some point he should run out of them

#

literally a brain parasite

#

it's actually quite reckless of him to let me, a random animal who can eat neurons, go on my way

#

literally anybody like me can get inside his brain (i think this is what five pebbles is) and eat it

#

and he can't really do anything about it

#

jeez why am i so cruel in this game

manic siren
#

technically this is what an animal would do, if we ignore its ability to understand language

#

find a region abundant with food and with no predators if you don't go into certain areas, and settle down

#

though there is another light-blue vulture-like creature which i know nothing about

#

mb it's a predator

#

mb it's like a white blood cell and their amount will grow as the amount of neurons decreases

#

but idk it's some deep theorizing

#

gotta just go there and do it
