#first playthrough and miscellaneous

idk maybe my sfx are too low, it was mostly visual for me :D
i am not gonna make that jump
i'm praying that if i fall i end up in the area below and won't die
phew
umm
oh i just noticed the slugcat closes his eyes when remembering the map
cute
its because he’s really really stupid and his brain hurts when he uses it
i don't blame him, the map is immense :D
having photographic memory when fighting for your life is a gift
i really hope vultures receive a miniscule amount of damage when slamming into platforms trying to fish someone out
it wouldn't change anything, but i would find it fair
i stole an exploding spear and i'm not afraid to use it, birds!!
wow man, cool terrain for long jumps
no downsides
okay, new gate
this should be new 100%, none of the regions i've visited could be so high up
another gate where something steamy is happening instead of cooling heat with water
i know nothing about mechanical things like this
Sky islands!
intro music is goated
bruhhh i forgot that i need a new shelter to stay in the region
orange lizards
something new
another gate! horizontally opposite
interesting
communications array!
a new name
weird that there are no vultures yet
in sky islands
noo it's a pearl tower
i was looking for a shelter
barely got to the shelter before rain
on a long cycle
nomad theory: you have to sleep 4 times in a row in 4 different regions
i love the flora on the sky islands
didn't expect it
oof flying squids are cool
the feather falling
bruh they have expiration date apparently
safari region unlocked again?? weird
You unlocked a different safari region last time
it's funny how i don't even understand whether squids are helping me willingly :D
they seem to dash at me, but not sure if they're attacking or suggesting a ride
SquidDash
another stroke
orange lizards again
this place again, but they ate my squiddy :(
oh god, these lizards' horns or whatever they are
they look like those snails with those parasites
endless wall climbing with a squid discovered
don't understand the antenna bugs' deal yet
finally, big mosquitoes encounter
oh god so much space
please give me a shelter...
well, this counts
i don't think squid will survive my hibernation, but i'll hope
OHHH HE'S ALIVE
LET'S GO
i love you squiddy
can't wait to be able to traverse the map freely mostly by memory
and have a clear bigger picture in my head
somehow it doesn't take too long for an area you've spent some time in to become really familiar
if i don't use passages, i should achieve it eventually
i'd comment on how beautiful the centipedes here are, but my rivalry with them overcomes the urge to compliment
they are stupidly dangerous
and i have no idea how would you even try to befriend them
they don't eat shit
they exist to harm it seems :p
i wonder if blind lizard kills count towards dragon slayer
or they're more like salamanders and not lizards
i hope my squid is a good boy and stays inside the shelter cuz i need to explore with my both hands free
i don't know why i thought all creatures die in shelters if you hibernate
as if i'm the only immortal thing
he was not, in fact, a good boy
hunting bats is a weirdly funny process
i remember when i first saw them in the intro, i thought the slugcat family was attacked by these bats and i would be the only survivor
but then they started eating them and i got silenced
LMAO
the slugcats genuinely don't look like predators lol
i mean yeah, but cats have claws, teeth, and all that
while these look like pillows :3
and i'm playing an especially bloodthirsty pillow
even more stereotypical herbivores will sneak some meat if they can
this a trippy-looking area
but pretty
the whole sky islands area has avatar vibes
colorful, a lot of plants, warm gradients might suggest warm climate
i'm going to start storing pearls in my shelters
idk why never thought of that before
noo it's such a pity that these three areas don't have direct connections apparently
only through tunnels
tho i didn't try jumping to check if it's true, but don't wanna risk it right now
feels like i'm moving away from this region too fast, but the completionist instinct is deceptive here
i'll explore everything everywhere anyway
Farm arrays!
i think it's the 10th region already
if i didn't know any better, i'd hope for the abundance of food in a place called "farm arrays"
but we'll see
something tells me these things are not part of the background
they are
"the use of some objects might not be obvious at first"
the tutorial is almost finished
holy shit
no comments
i'll call them mega bunnies
this is the best i can do
haha, i didn't caught that, but this vulture just came up to the bunny and started rubbing against him
looked like an affection
if vultures knew what it is
oh no who thought of this
there should be a shelter behind that
mushrooms, i count on you
bruh what, the spears don't stick to walls either
Depends on the wall
yeah i thought it would be possible here cause i couldn't wall jump to that pole
hmm
I wouldn't stress too much about this room
which makes me even more determined to solve it
ik i probably don't have something specific which would help me
but so far doing things the hard ways also worked out
these were 25 minutes of hell and vultures, but i managed to collect enough karma for another venture into the farm
time to continue suffering, but in a different way
of course i got a short cycle! naturally
nice, a much more convenient shelter
finally
time to experiment with the eldritch bunny
"wiggling around might startle this creature" the game told me after i literally stabbed it
got it
touch-starved grass field
if those rhombi in the upper right corner are actually shelters, then it's insane how many of them are in the farm arrays
yo is that farm arrays my favourite region?
thoughts for now:
- gotta figure out how to counter touchy grass (gotta try bombs)
- gotta study the mega bunnies
- gotta find some bubble plant to get to that another shelter
- gotta stop forgetting to store pearls
also i just found out, or maybe rediscovered that small mosquitoes are edible
just like with centipedes
except mosquitoes are much less toxic
and dodgeable
"🗡️🦟"
bruh what, it's different on pc
or in discord
idk how it works
the last time was quite tedious and frustrating, time to be more patient and meticulous in exploring
scavenger toll found
entangling insects are a nightmare
the ambiguity of monkeys' attitude towards you is kinda annoying
i stood for a solid minute in front of like 5 of them, and only then they killed me
also a dandelion killed a big mosquito for some reason
no way are these pearls
no
ok
porl
yeah
it almost seems like the dandelions work only on insects
idk how it's explained lorewise but we'll see
i massacred all of the monkey camp... except one.
and he killed me when i tried to make a proud screenshot
karma
roguelike 3.0, running the same path over and over again
good for memory
Violence begets violence
yep
i know there is something like a trading system with monkeys, and reputation, but i'm postponing it
mb this is what i'll do as monk
very inconvenient place when there is a corpse
finally i managed to steal a grenade without immediately throwing it
finally i'm out of this hell
if this is gonna be followed with an even bigger camp
it's gonna be hilarious
also didn't expect them to have a blue bug in the camp
yum
marvelous
the kills... and the outlaw progress from 0
that grenade prolly took 3 of them at once
what monster am i
rookie numbers i killed 8 scavs in one cycle as monk
okay i finally slept with a pearl in my shelter, and nothing really happened
i forgot to store them like 20 times already
Please be mindful that this is a first playthrough post and people are still learning the game
yep i really can't dedicate myself to any more or less difficult passage
and oh my god, dandelions are awesome
neutralizing my main enemies
the centipedes
wait what since when i can't store prey in my tummy
i thought it worked with bats before
maybe i'm crazy or the little centipedes are just too big
it never worked
the grass is so ungrateful
thought something would happen if i gave it a centipede but it just nipped it and reaching out for more
my questions are rhetorical, i'm not asking for answers, thank you :з
i'm figuring out everything by myself so far
@jagged pawn please refrain from spoiling posters
i kinda expected the farm arrays to be quite flat in terrain
cuz, you know, farms
but there are a lot of levels
weird place, don't see any way up yet
even with spears
can i give you a tip how to get up
porl
can't believe i seldom progress the "hunter" passage
i think for monk and hunter you have to ONLY be herbivorous or carnivorous during a run
means that most of my runs are mixed
wonder if the "hunter" character can't eat fruits at all
the least backtrackable place i've seen
wow, unusual music
god, the grass is so STOIC
never changes its behavior
You'd be surprised
although yeah, there were big long pipes before
i just tried not to jump in them just in case
man i really underestimated grass before
3 deaths from grass in the same place
uhh the direction of movement mechanics in narrow tunnels become annoying
especially in places where they're partially hidden by roots or other visual stuff
you just can't see where you should start turning
and end up correcting yourself every time trying not to move with your butt forward
bruh finally, tenth attempt or so
one of the few times in rw i feel the question of “death pit vs more map?” is actually valid
even dandelions don't counter the determined grass
compared to some other death pits, this one actually had the vibes of something useful
plus very close to shelter so no big loss
well actually
death pits in chimney canopy were insane
gotta find a squiddy
for the red pearl
still no idea what they do but there is no way they are useless
now here's the question "map edge vs more map?" to the left
although i wouldn't be able to bypass this grass with a regular jump anyway
well, shit
ohhhh yeahhhh
glad i thought of this
my dear reindeer raindeer in rainworld
the amount of grass
what a gentlemen!
or gentleman
idk how you say it
men is like plural
got it :p
it's just that the loanword in my language has "e" regardless
it messed with my brain there for a second
i really feel bad for trying to kill one of them right away
they're cute
but i'm still gonna try again
gate prediction
i gotta stop my gate predictions
they don't work
mega bunnies are my favourite animals in this game so far
the leviathans are the second place
i have a thing for gigantic eldritch stuff
what is happening????
the shelter suddenly half-filled with water and the screen is shaking at the start of a cycle
interesting
and stressful
well it's not early rain for sure, otherwise the water would already appear
but what the hell
hmm and it stopped pretty soon
never seen such a long shake even with leviathans
unless one got stuck like lizards usually are
twitching against a wall
wait what, it's actually raining!
but not deadly
it looks completely dry in the photo thou
its a bit more interesting if you get to see it earlier
this run is so trippy
it’s very spaghetti routing
hm
my horsey abandoned me :(
yay it got back
such an emotionally dynamic game :D
bunny comes — happy
bunny leaves — sad
oh man it 100% is a bunny huh
three eyes at once! never seen that many yet
potato bunny
left alone for too long and grown roots
so atmospheric, and music too
a bit of Guardian vibes
dunno exactly how that game is called
with Trico
is that the giant dog
yeah
eaglecatdog
would really fit in this game's fauna too
where every species is something combined with something apparently
thank you for your service
i'm 100% gonna die in a minute so i'll be back
the eyes are kinda creepy
where's my yellow dude
hey you saw them a second ago
well!
i'm attached to them
bruh i got a little bit of Chieftain progression after just hunting centipedes
welp
outskirts prediction
THERE IS NO WAY
grass is new arch nemesis
the soundtrack is very moony if i would say so
no region name shown yet and i need another karma level just in case
the suspense is crazy
attempt #2
everything is fine
huh thats kinda confusing
discovery: small grass also kills you if you don't escape
my inexplicable fails or the place? :D
hmm
i so need to learn the backflip vertical spear placement for this popcorn
but i rarely even can make backflips
i mean, since they won’t get stuck
yeah i haven't thought of that
oookay, this is where my decision to play left-handed only backfires
i have to press q with my fourth finger (don't remember its name)
while moving with wasd
okay i think i figured out backplifs
you just have to be very angry at your keyboard
i wonder if the karma level goes up if you starve
OHH WAIT you have to press down for the vertical spear
i'm an idiot
this is so obvious
so another button to press
Oh nice job learning that
yeah but i still haven't succeeded
and lost most of my karma
and i'm kinda stuck
this is gonna be interesting
trying to go up one of those two vertical tunnels via rain now
huh fully submerged room with no room above
interesting
What the hell?
hmm what's that colourful thing in the bottom right corner
either just flora or i gotta check it out someday
Odd that an outdoor room flooded
Pov you're the third slugcat fighting to get on noah's ark
is it? i thought it was normal
huh
maybe i'm misremembering something but i think all rooms eventually flooded for me
e.g. if you follow the flood upwards or survive the rain long enough
The curtain of rain's pretty dense at full power, guess the death screen can be interpreted to look like that
This has like swimmable water though, very funny look for it. Obviously just an uncommon glitch
don't you survive the rain if you're standing under a canopy of something? or is it only possible for a short time
and then it kills you anyway
hmm i have a lore theory
if we take the entirety of the map as some kind of big machine
then maybe the rain is supposed to cool the system down when the life within it gets too active
just like at the gates
at the same time, some gates have steam instead of water
hm
ok):
idk what they wrote but i ain't reading any of that right after i made a lore theory :D
i can dodge monkeys' spears, means i can dodge spoilers
also a thing i noticed earlier, i could for some reason climb really really fast in narrow tunnels if i'm dragging a corpse with me
don't know why it happened and whether it was supposed to happen at all
There's a lot of jank physics interactions to be found; very fun for speedrunners to play around with
the murderer's guilt speed boost
"oh no i must hide the body as soon as possible"
i just realized what "scavenger's toll" means
turns out i forgot the meaning of "toll"
it was tax collector outpost
who are they taxing though when i'm not around
i'm the only sentient creature around except other scavengers
or being taxed by vultures
A pyramid scheme all along
i imagine its ordinarily just multiple tribes of scavengers or something
still learning to backflip
thought you need to press opposite direction + jump simultaneously, but it needs to be a quick succession direction -> jump
gotta add down to the succesion, and then throw
my left hand never thought it could be used for such complicated tasks
oh yeah i struggled with backflips a lot when i was startin thats normal
it's like giving a janitor additional job related to what people do in the offices the janitor cleans up
"you work close to them, you should know what to do"
could've just make a wasd-like configuration on the right side of my keyboard, but i'm too far now
yeah but videocult was trying to go for the life feeling and since backflips in RL are kinda hard to do, no shit they gonna be hard to do in RW
seems easier to succeed when i focus on the character's movement rather than key combination
guess it's easier to process for my brain
that i need to make the slug turn abruptly first, and only then jump
NO WAY
100% i'm not gonna be able to do it again in the next 10 hours of gameplay
felt like luck
I'm right handed l could never do such precision with my left
it is luck
it genuinely seems like the most difficult movement thing in the game
it is
i mean yeah, i'm sure the speedrunners have much more tricks
But harder movement tricks exist, and l dare not touch em
Did l bring up the movement doc thing before?
i feel you
no but i heard it elsewhere
Yup, an actively updated 150 page google doc chronicling movement
Some are intentionally incorporated inputs, some are unintentional exploits of the physics
You can do anything in this game
what is bigger, lore or that doc?
Good question
The lore is a great iceberg, but that iceberg is secretly the tip to another larger iceberg we haven't answered
i wonder how are you even supposed to reach that popcorn otherwise, without the vertical spear
if you use a squid, you'd have to let go of it every time to take a bite
and it would escape constantly
bruh that's so specific
and intriguing
Indeed
oh my poor keyboard, can't believe i did it
for no reason though, because there is even less food now
a really tight pickle i am in
We have a lot of elaborate answers to things you haven't begun to comprehend yet with your still fresh and surface level scratch, but they still generate their own questions, and the game deliberately leaves some stuff for our imaginations
It definitely makes it very personal
every set of eyes can build their own ideas and theories
usually that's something i hear about games which have things like ARG
wonder if it's achieved with something completely different
Rainworld has used args before
The Watcher dlc mostly
It had very secluded advertising and used an arg series to reveal teasers or snippets about it before release
You won't have to worry about having to dig up rainworld's story out-of-game though.
i would be really bad at this anyway, people who do args seem to have really special minds
i almost broke down trying to understand what an arg even is 😭
welp, we reached the absolute scarcity and there is literally no other way but to wait for the bunny
either i'm missing something, or this is the first place that requires just waiting and nothing else
like, with lizards you could distract them in some way or something
the stoic grass doesn't care
although i didn't really try building a spear ladder in that other place
maybe they persist between deaths
whether they do or not seems really inconsistent
or arbitrary depending on the place
so far i don't think i saw hidden tunnels to places which are not cul-de-sacs
like scavenger storage rooms
it's main objective, though it would be preferable to get to the previous shelter for a more free scavenging
(not asking for tips btw)

i shall overcome the suffering eventually
it's also fun how getting stuck doesn't get boring cuz each pickle is different
ofc in the future it will probably be different for me
bruh what the hell are these additional tunnels leading to nowhere
i swear i'll implode if one of the next cycles brings a lizard out of this tunnel
I wouldn't fret too much over unconventional rooms like these
well it's not like i have any other choice :p
the bunny's ghosting me
i'm 100% sure the spears will disappear after the rain which is super nigh
You don't have to rely on random chance with the bunnies
you have more control over the situation than you think
if it helps imagine having to jump specifically during the turnaround skid
No detailing ofc as per your request
yeah this seems to be the case constantly :D i'm thinking
yeah that's it
thats also how it works in super mario 64 for example
my fingers are just not very skilled in this
never played any games with complicated combos like this
is the one handed controls like an accessibility thing btb or is it like just because
plus they're by nature twitchy and not precise
it doesnt sound comfortable
Yeah having to work seven buttons with one hand is very uncomfy
i mightve misremembered who’s who
but so far possible
if it helps you can always remap to wasd controls
maybe i'll change them eventually
yeah that's what i did :D
In your shoes l woulda just binded directionals to other nicer shaped buttons
I do NOT like spacebar jump
It's too big and clunky a key
maybe but its the default for like wasd stuff so thats what a lot of people are probably used to
I know I'm in the minority though
the spacebar is the least problematic for me, it's the movement maneuvres (i have no idea how to spell this rn) and things that require a lot of buttons pressed at once or in quick succession
ik it's super unconventional
i couldn't do walljumping at all though when i used arrow keys
i really struggled with coordinating the two hands properly
which seems kinda weird, i wouldnt consider backflips to be advanced or hard at all but you seem to have a good grasp of the game controls otherwise
this way all muscle memory is at least stored in one hand
mb just learning
or like i said, no experience with combos in other games
idk, we'll see :p
i haven't played a lot of things people usually play
and i don't remember most of what i did play
mm
mario 64 no
idk, brain's empty :D
can't remember anything

okay so you do progress in karma if you starve!
and i have martyr progress for the first time
interesting
have to be related to starving
is this your first time starving?
no, another one was very deep in drainage, in a very dark area
there was a shelter next to gate
and i was super lost
and confused by the darkness
i eventually drowned in a very small puddle because my slugcat was exhausted
i mean tbf slugcats just do that normally anyway
:p
also funny how they're literally immune to any fall damage if the rooms are connected directly
just "ouch"
and they're fine
but if you jump down in the area you don't remember cuz you went through a tunnel—you're dead
idk actually what would be the explanation, that's just my first thought
maybe, very occasionally, youre on a different depth layer
i'm actually glad i died, because i would get stuck down there
in general you just have to accept that if you go through a pipe the other room might as well not exist
Rainworld is a 3d universe being seen through a 2d lens
i mean yeah that actually makes sense
maybe beneath the screen is the touchy grass
omnipresent
Maybe there's a lava pit
theres an accessibility setting in remix that makes the death barriers more obvious btb
if its yknow a problem
well take this screenshot
see that dark gradient at the bottom?
You tell the difference between a pit that leads to Death and one that leads to More Room via said gradient
never thought of that
The remix setting makes the gradient bigger and bolder
that's actually super helpful
thanks!
also does the slugcat change in color when starving or i'm crazy?
yeah they do
i wore pitch black skin during the first starving, and then i became white
Also become skinnier
survivor is normally white so theyre the hardest to tell with
interesting
btw it's kinda sad how difficult the dark areas become if your skin is too dark :D
i literally had to track eye movement
well, i hope that guy has night vision then :D
yay they persisted!
now i just have to handle drunk parkour
yep my guy can't hold onto them while catching his breath
no way, are flies following me because of my condition
that's even more sad
...not the grass again
i'm clearly doing something really wrong with this grass
maybe i need to hurry constantly, but idk
my dear tentacled friends, i'm really not tasty right now
irrelevant dedication to pull me down
phew i barely escaped their grasp before getting exhausted again
aaand i'm dead
well that's even better
dang
at least i'm full of energy right now
neither popcorn nor little centipedes want to come back here yet
good.
the long-medium-short cycle pattern is either really easy to understand and i'm overcomplicating it
or it's completely random and based on pi digits
no in-between
same with spears persisting between cycles/deaths
you know when people get really frustrated and just try to brute-force themselves out of a pickle in videogames
i think i need to do that more
maybe the grass is bruteforceable
waaait
what if it's like those roots from harry potter
i dont rly follow
i thought you needed to move really slow and gently and not to resist the grass
oh that grass
yeah
i just need to sit down and think
if i'm clearly doing something wrong, then there's clearly an easier solution
so i've noticed that bunnies shriek when i throw a dandelion
but because of the game's tip about "startling the creature", i thought it scares them
maybe it does
or not
it came here
huh
so far they have the most confusing ai for me to understand
the dandelion throw is almost silent, so do they have super hearing, super smell? (rhetorical)
and dandelions kill insects for some reason
also a mystery
i mean it's not like wild animals who are indifferent to humans are any different :D
or even just cats
oh shit one of them just leaped across the screen with no effort
wonder if i can make them go faster by command
i just noticed that there are loads of spears there
and a toll-like totem
so i threw 4 dandelions at once for the sake of the experiment, and 3 bunnies at once came here
i don't know if there's a connection
hmm there's a fancy orange lizard with very long horns
wonder what it means
okay so i'm finally back at my previous shelter
i don't have a good idea how to fight grass yet, so i'll postpone that gate
plus it seems it's part of a region i've already seen, maybe i can find another way there
the hidden tunnels are insane, i had no idea there's a way down from there
hmm
tunnel-backstabbing lizards and other enemies is broken
managed to kill a long-horned lizard
not sure what's the difference yet
1 more until dragon slayer
which colours did you kill?
not sure if lizards with shorter horns count as different lizards
purple blue green white (invisible, not blind) and now orange
well based on the question, i guess i need another color :D
oop
it's fine!
i'm not sensitive towards accidental tips
the joy of finally figuring out something you didn't know compensates the joy of figuring it out by yourself
top tier coping :D
plus i'm so often oblivious about such obvious things it's hard not to spoil something accidentally
my brain works weird
the orange lizards are more incompetent than green lizards
thought they would be more dangerous because they're new
oh i killed a blue eye
turns out pole plants are not triggered if you don't grab them
apparently
another hidden tunnel i would never notice if not for the map
farm arrays is the most confusing area for me so far
don't know if it's common
huh, i just noticed the 3d animation of a bunny's head turning
cool
huh i thought remix options don't affect gameplay directly
"pull spears from walls"
nah it's like making the game 3 times easier
seems like it's not a bottomless pit
but still scary
WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HELL IS HAPPENING
2 more karma levels unlocked
and pilgrim
whaaaaaat
some kind of octopus
hmm
i don't know if i should go back and check on that place, i got returned to the last shelter
pilgrim is dot-based
there should be several locations like that
4 i think
don't remember
yep it's gone now
witnessed an eldrith horror beyond my comprehension and woke up with more karma
huuh
i'm in subterranean somehow
this is the biggest shelter i've ever seen
a whole underground villa
oh hey you met the SHINY GOLD PLATED CREATURE i see
the tunnels in the center bother me
but okay
uhhh
i dont like subbetainian but every single run i do i end up in it somehow
that's menacing
and it even seems like it needs the karma level i don't have yet
maybe it's only like after 4 pilgrimages or so
spoiler alert ||there is no - karma||
oh wait yeah they do look like gates
all areas are basically new to me, but this subterranean piece feels extra special for some reason
and not just because of purple gates
i mean maybe a lot of factors got combined
that octopus too
another series of stupid deaths incoming
well that's stressful
yeah no tip can save you atp
my lizard guy forgot how to use tunnels and blocking everything
They don't want tips regardless
gathergrain i'm not reading any of your messages, sorry
oh god so many golden lizards
I do urge you to recognize when someone's desire is to play without entity spoilers or gameplay tips or other backseating
well that's inconvenient
If maars solicits help, then you give it. Otherwise don't randomly post information that wasn't asked for pls
so many wagons underground, interesting
underhstood
oh i forgot i still have this joke username
the subterranean feels like the horizontally longest region in the game so far
while chimney is probably the vertically longest
not sure
weird looking room but okay
noo your cool username that i immediately forgot what it was again oops
i'm usually just mars, but i had the weird joke idea to extend the amount of a's every day for no reason
and i forgot after the first day
losing the new karma levels feels especially painful
okay i gotta pay some respect to my sleep regime
oop goodnight
today was weird in terms of exploration, but i enjoyed it :p
thanks!
goodnight to you too, whenever it comes
living exactly on the opposite side of the planet from the usa and interacting a lot with the anglophone part of the internet feels surreal in terms of time
ik not everyone are americans, but it's the majority often
also the most baffling assist to me
especially when remix is like yea its like a super tiny super minor assist yup :)
G'night
In my timezone it's pretty late too
Luckily l am a teensy bit unemployed
first playthrough and my weird left-handed keybind configuration issues
first playthrough and my weird left-handed keybind configuration
well my unemployment strikes again
so if i understand correctly, pilgrimage to beautiful eldritch horrors is something important you're supposed to do
i'll assume it will do something more than just give me more karma levels in the end
but it's cycle 135, 33 hours and i have only met this creature once
and i need 3 or 4 more
maybe i was super unlucky
just gotta explore areas i haven't visited yet
i'm feeling cyan today
or whatever colour this is
There's no mandate of anything in the game
I don't think you are super unlucky, they are pretty out of the way
Pretty great find
i really could've missed that little cave and never come back until 20 hours or so
blue underground bugs are so far the greatest thing to store in your tummy as a food source
healing 2 dots and storeable, unlike centipedes
this cluster of tunnels was really confusing to understand
almost impossible without using the map
only through trial and error
it's time to start to value my karma levels
it's gonna be a real pain restoring it from 1 to 7
but at the same time the desire to kill a golden lizard is strong
it'll give me dragon slayer
not sure if leviathans can be killed, but if it's true and it doesn't count towards dragon slayer
then it's really funny
dragon slayer interview:
"i killed the shoreline levi, the sub levi, 7 vultures, 25 salamanders, massacred 4 scavenger tolls, hunted down 5 lizards—"
"only 5? get out"
BRUH the golden guy escaped before i could get to him
just 1 or 2 more hits and he would be done
turns out you can just jump past these tentacles without throwing anything at them
the ability to jump and parkour alone makes me one of the most dangerous and adaptable creatures here
the centipedes' behavior continues to baffle me
not a predator, not sapient
attacks for fun
i just realized this is literally the interior of the wagon this shelter is in
the dark environment made me automatically assume it's a cave
starting to use backflips to pick up regular food that is too high
good practice for the future
yay
tunnel backstab
never gets old
finally
now i'm happy
i don't even know what these blue nutritious bugs are
they look like a combination of a fruit, a bug and a stone
The ones that go Pop!
yeah
though i associated the word "pop" rather with snails
which i at first thought were bugs
never seen real snails with such shell shapes
at least those that don't live in the water
what a party!
the music is hilarious here
idk if it's connected to the room
The snail critter in rainworld doesn't necessarily have to be a snail... seen people call them turtles too
then they're sticky bugs for me
partially because they're bugging me with their pops sometimes :p
so you can eat them
maybe i didn't put enough spears in them, smh it never worked out
it would actually make the drainage so much easier :D
experiment: i'll try to store a dead small centipede in my shelter
if it works out, it's kinda broken
Oh no that wasn't a confirmation nor denial of if the pop snail thing is edible
But always great to experiment with everything, flora and fauna
reverse phychology :p
i'm starting to try to venture on long cycles and keep my karma up all the time
it's a little bit more tedious, but i feels calmer and richer
the cycles are going up fast this way though
144 already
still wondering if the number of cycles has any effect on gameplay
maybe i'm crazy but it seems i jump a little bit higher after a turn boost even without the backflip
still wondering how creatures and food spawn
maybe it's the same for predators as it is for food
if i kill a predator, it disappears and appears only after a certain amount of deaths/cycles
because i killed the golden and blue lizards outside my shelter and they don't bother me anymore
wonder for how long
one thing for sure, the food and predators disappear after eating/killing them only if i hibernate afterwards
but they can reappear after a certain amount of deaths
which means that my deaths are not groundhog day
Rule of thumb, hibernating is saving the game
yeah
but the respawn is still kinda a mystery
i really need to kill this guy somehow
he's quite annoying
yay a new shelter
the centipedes are a menace
i think i saw them shocking bats for no reason
hmm the shelter doesn't let me hibernate if i don't come out of it at least once
wonder if it's intended or not
its intended
umm
i hibernated with this guy
and he killed me while in a shelter
yep i'm not seeing those systems at the moment :D
he doesn't seem to be able to escape from here, but it's impossible to sleep and really hard to kill him because not enough space
stole my home
and almost all karma levels
the keyword is "try"
unfortunately the thing they have for lizards in shelters is a little buggy
it’s not bugged, lizard just physically can’t climb out
well is the lizard killing you instantly
i was also gonna say "also even if it worked the shelter is too small rn anyway"
i managed to escape like 50% of the time
so it was easier to kill him
no karma anyway
welp
at least he's not gonna be around for some time
glad i had a spear here
i don't think he himself enjoyed what happened :D
bruh i keep defaulting all animals in english to "he"
i can't control it
the most crammed any of my shelters have ever been
though these days i bet i could still still rent it for $300k/month
the way dead animals twitch slightly when you enter a room is scary every time
the yellow/blue/red rhombi are definitely not shelters
no idea what they indicate
uhh
is it possible to drag a dead golden lizard out of a vertical shelter tunnel like that?
k then
yknow, rip that shelter in your playthrough i guess
it's still possible to sleep there and crawl out
just takes more time
WOAH
this small patch of grass just ate a whole big centipede
the apex predator i swear
wonder if animals disappear between cycles if they die from each other
i won't be able to look at normal lizards the same way after this game
what the hell are you, mister
i don't know if it's the same blind lizard as the ones i saw in the filtration system
it's completely black here
aand we're in a different part of the filtration system
WHAT
this is the first time i died apparently from fall damage
oh right surpriissee it was there all along also
yeah i don't have a picture of how damage works in this game yet
lizard bites sometimes kill me for good
it's kinda weird how often the blue bugs respawn in this room
it allows for endless karma regeneration so far
maybe the respawn time is different for every type of food
oof
looks like subsubterranean
veeeery creepy moving light
what a menacing and intriguing area
the screen is very heaty
deity moment
wanna try and play with torches but afraid to lose progress
gotta find shelter
even though this place doesn't really look fit for a shelter
huh what is happening to the rain counter
maybe this place is too hot for water
as a slug, i protest
i am so scared to lose progress

oh no she's not friendly
this awful feeling when you're meeting a new threat and have no idea how to act
her design is awesome
i'm still sitting down here and thinking what to do
i hate this so much
she obviously doesn't like me sitting under her feet
but doesn't do anything except widening the symbol circle
no idea what she will do if i come out
okay she has gravity powers
i'm still alive and hiding but idk how to counter it
i got airbent
oookay lady
i'm going to spend the next 5 hours trying to solve you
huh... what if this crossed circle symbol is a karma level i don't have yet
and she will let me through if i reach it
i'm 76% sure this is how it works
but i gotta try and brute force it a couple of times
so far:
- she can pull me to the right, not killing (i can resist somewhat)
- she can slam me up and down, killing me (i can't resist)
wonder if it depends on how pissed she is, or it's basically random
thinking in the right direction lad
no idea what you wrote but i don't wanna risk reading it at such thrilling moment
it's cool that this area doesn't have a time limit
but it would be cooler if i could find a shelter in it
there were one or two branches
gotta check em out

the subterranean region is very ominous now
an unknown high-level gate and deep hot area with gravity benders
spolers - ||it will be ominous forever.||
new stuff keeps happening in this game
even such an annoyance as a dead and heavy lizard in a very small shelter adds to the experience
maybe i'm very wrong about predators respawning at all, and i can actually kill everyone at some point
leaving the region empty of predators
on the other hand, how would it be explained that things below me in the food chain respawn, but things above don't
bats have homes, and they respawn near them
centipedes have nests like lizards do
so everyone has homes
my brain's not braining :(
but okay
we'll see
oh wait sorry i skipped past the part where stuff happened
so i got confused why suddenly you were outside again
i just had a blackout where i am, and i'm so glad it didn't happen mid-run, because my pc would just terminate everything with no questions
new fear unlocked
also i caught a glimpse of a thread where someone's save got corrupted, hope it's not a common occurence too :D
i dunno exactly why saves would corrupt
RW does have an automated backup system on PC but i dont know the details
that's refreshing
but i’d assume that a chunk of the save corruption was due to all the post-watcher1.5 updates
it was pretty tumultuous and the game was in a kinda unstable rut
(or maybe its the process of going from v1.10 to v1.11 or something like that)
((or mods))
this game seems very unusual in a lot of aspects, so i can imagine it might not have been easy making it stable :p
also its switched like primary dev hands and idk how that goes
plus it came out in 2017, right?
yea
really fascinated at how they managed to make such an unusual gameplay
including animals' ai and physics
i don't know a thing about game developing and all that stuff, and about games in general
so maybe it's not that unusual
i like how it has a new slug almost every time you launch
one time it was something like a very chunky survivor
btw by the silhouette of Saint in the menu where you choose slugs, i imagined him looking completely differently :D
with white, brown and black colors, and with a scarf
turns out the scarf is a tongue
:þ
i wouldnt be surprised if they had a greninja tongue scarf phase though
wish i could understand that reference
i'm either too young to understand a lot about pokemon stuff, or i'm just weird and it missed me completely
also i just realised he has fur unlike the others
this is a frogcat at this point :p
oof i'm seeing something very familiar behind him
but ofc i won't overthink it now
too far
...right, the studio apartment experience
forgot about this guy
interestingly, this gate is also leading to the left, just like that room with the lady
there's gotta be something extremely special about whatever is to the left from subterranean
i'm really curious, do people commonly find grass very annoying or is it just me?
this spot alone ate so much of my time cuz i can't jump onto the pole properly :D
for the blue bugs hanging above it
back here!
okay, time to be really slow and patient
the area seems uninhabited
i think gravity here is generally a little different
i shouldn't be able to jump from the right to the left thingy in normal conditions
at least i think so
really want to experiment with torches, maybe i can light up my spear, but kinda scary
the statue is very human- or at least humanoid-looking
the calfs and everything
this area does have spears and rocks for some reason
so maybe i can fight the gravity bender somehow
i do think a few of her legs were partially in the tunnel where i hid

killer bat
