Documenting my watcher play trough while maintaining (in)sanity.

#

So, coming fresh off of Saint ending, watcher.
A cute lil dark blue slug cat that has a full dlc about them.
Surely it must be big if it has a full dlc just to it?

#

Starting off with the opening cinematic: kinda confusing, but I think I understood it right? (the second kid died or smth, not sure)

#

Watcher Blind First time (1.5)

#

Then we get dropped off into Hydroponics. Seems farm arrays-ish, has me thinking if this takes place near a different interator.

#

There is an echo flash at the start, so I farm 5 karma and show up to get an echo done early.

#

But the echo... doesn't happen.

#

Bummed out I wasted my time I move on to fall into industiral complex.

#

This confirms the region location so I start wondering about the point this takes place on the timeline.

#

Likely before saint since no snow yet.

#

I then see some rot in the lower industrial and think maybe around the time of artificer.

#

Since I remeber there being more rot in garbage the further back you go.

#

It's blocking the usual route to garbage wastes so I try going to chimney canopy.

#

I fail to get there cuz I couldn't find a spear, so I ended up going shaded citadel.

#

I get trough that well enough, throwing some perals to scavs for lamp to make them like me.

#

I make my way towards shorline gate and go to pick up an echo on the way...

#

Biggest mistake of my life

#

Echo is.... different

#

it laughs at me

#

and boots me back to hydrophonics

#

I think, ok, sure, why not.

#

Makes perfect sense

#

I then proceed to do industrial again and go chimney canopy this time as I originally intended to.

#

I make it up there easy enough, casually seeing the world around me look like it's melting, and some rotten fruits showing up.

#

When I get to the top of chimney, the way to sky islands or 5P is blocked

#

so I ofc continue higher and talk with the laughing echo again

#

She gives me power to be invisible

#

cool. makes perfect sense

#

After being booted back AGAIN, I proceed to go to top of chimney once more, to find nothing there.

#

From that I conclude visiting same echo spot twice is pointless.

#

So, after finding a shelter in chimney I turn off the game and reconsider my life choices that lead me to play this brain melt.

#

Also rotten lizards that sound like cats.

#

You know I expected, for stuff to start making sense.
I naively hoped after saint, there could be nothing that could fry my brain in watcher.

#

And it still did.

#

So yeah, i'll be documenting and speculating here to try and make sense out of this mess

Enjoy your travels watcherpopcorn the journey will be your longest yet leditoroverload

that ruins any speculation I could have. thanks for that

#

Well, you'd have been pretty confused when the story approaches the world in very different fields to downpour lizwhiteshrug I'm still sorry though, it is fun to speculate ways they could possibly fit each other! saintpensive

#

Downpour was developed entirely by modders while Watcher has og dev help for lore

#

Any speculation you could have would already be ruined by the differing approaches huntershrug

#

There is a thread that exists for any and all lore talk considering both dlcs but Downpour has pretty different lore form vanilla and Watcher

#

Welp, I got further

#

But I got a question to save myself some sanity

#

I figure I gotta collect all echoes across the regions

#

What I'm wondering about is the purple snail things that are supposed to point the way

#

I am very confused what their direction is supposed to mean

#

As in, what are they poinitng towards

#

Since when I tried following them, I found nothing

#

Are they pointining to nearest pipe? Or a teleporter? Or just general location on the 3d map?

#

If they are confusing now it is alright to ignore their directions for the time being slugnom
