Never thought I’d enjoy death(in games)

Disclaimer: I’m writing this after my first 2hrs on this game. That’s right, screw Steams return policy.

This meme is literally me every…(let’s see..) 10 bucking minutes or so And will probably be me for as long as I play this game

I was sold on this being a nice chill open-world game with WORLDBUILDING— like Minecraft!

However, as a Minecraft player, I honestly should’ve known better. My body’s still loaded with adrenaline as I type this . Those lizards looked so goofy on YT vids, but I’ve genuinely jumped off my seat—more times than I’d like to admit—to those god forsaken green bloody lizards jumping out of pipes

I also love that RW isn’t heavy on the specs & I can actually enjoy it on my 5yr old Dell laptop with just the avg specs

Most of my deaths have just been due to personal mistakes & panicking. But I learn something about the mechanics & how to deal with the green lizards primarily(let them kill each other while I scurry away )

To give ya a sense of where I’m at: The Outskirts - Cycle 2.

Just fully exploring this region & learning how to survive THRIVE here

Also, not sure if this would be unrelated & thus not allowed, but idk where else to talk about it.

I have my volumes to all the game audio & my laptop’s audio turned up, but I’m not getting any music/SFX. I still get the vibration feedback since I left it on, but that’s it. Despite this, I’m still hooked on this game so that’s a testament to how well made it is

Anywho, that’s all I can think off for this “diary entry” XD

1st of all, WHY IS MY LIL BRO THE GAME’S FAV?!?? He survived TWO close calls with the rain—with me only telling him to go back to the bunker. He actually remembered the location 4 rooms away.

It’s not that bad cuz tbh I was guiding him too, but I’m just salty he’s only died once under the rain while I was suffering

Thanks to him, I actually started advancing through the cycles & getting up the “karma wheel”, I call it. Not exactly sure that that’s about but my intuition told me I had to get all the way to the max level before trying the exit.

Also I forgot to say this yesternight but I found the gates too. Just couldn’t get passed them

His reaction of sheer terror when he WAS caught in the rain was priceless XD.

An hr in we found another bunker closer to the gates. Then there was a moment he was being hunted by the Noodlefly Mama &—with the Mama’s nose just BARELY entering the bunker—it shuts just in time & he got to hibernate… NOT TO MENTION HE GOT TO KEEP THE BABY NOODLEFLY LIKE THIS PLOT ARMOR AINT EVEN MEEE

Half an hr later, we eventually made it through the gates & are finally passed the Outskirts! We were both jumping in celebration & now my lil bro’s hooked too

Night 2, The Industrial Complex, signing off

Bruh, this complex is tough af I’ve been in this shithole for 25 CYCLES

The lizards, the vultures, the scavengers, the LIZARDS…

Not to mention the map’s big as hell. Whereas, in the Outskirts, I found the exit gates quite easily before I even amassing enough karma. Niether me nor my brother have been anywhere near the exit!

The white lizard was especially a curveball Its camouflage gave me heart attacks & its tongue gave me trauma

Finally got to a bunker, what I’m hoping is, halfway through the map(sitted at the top) & that’s where I’m calling it a night. I’m at 33 cycles now still on this map, don’t know if I’m slow or what☠️(not that I care, I’m not tryna speedrun by any means)

These scavengers are so weird & annoying. Throwing spears at me just cuz I’m a rodent It was funny & horrific seeing some of them die to lizards cuz they were focused on me. Not even the AIs can let their guards down

Im gonna try to attempt at least one trade with these mfs before moving on to another level—even if I find the gates first.

Night 3, Industrial Complex, signing off

Alright, so I finally got to trade with the scavs—which was the main reason I’ve been lingering in Industrial Complex. However not in the way I wanted.

These jackasses raided my bunker & mogged me for both my pearls…! All just for me to get a single bloody spear

Man, these scavs weren’t worth it (half joking)

The good news, though, is that I now know that it takes 2 body shots(w the spear) to kill the majority of the lizards. For me it’s pink, blue, & white. Green just bucking ate all my hits

Even with this knowledge, I still got humbled repeatedly Tho it felt so nice finally beating 1 of my predators, but I am still no means a Hunter(see what I did there? …sorry)

Night 4, Industrial complex, signing off

Finally out of the industrial complex! And boy if I thought that was tough then I’m def cooked in the Shaded Citadel

So freaking darn & those mice things are a pain in the ass to make use of. I have to drop them everytime I wanna grab shit, even FOOD?!?

However, I’ve still managed to make it into a bunker decently deep into the map WHILE blinded cuz I’m goated~

Oh & those flash banging berries were a massive jumpscare at 1st XD

Night 5, Shaded Citadel, signing off

Crap, almost forgot the diary Didn’t get to play any on Wednesday but yesterday I got out of the Shaded Citadel!

Much quicker than I thought. Once I stole a glowing pearl from a scav’s corpse, I was golden

Then I went to the Shoreline & saw the Leviathan for the 1st TIME!

Finally got to meet Look To The Moon & nothing really happened…

Couldn’t understand her AI speech & I was hungry so I just ate her neurons…making her die. Now me sad

Got out of Shoreline & into Garbage Waste! Now tell me how tf have I died 3x more at the Garbage Waste in one session than I did during my whole time with the bloody LEVIATHAN

Took 3 homicides against me & 3 pearls(including a pearl I’ve purposely kept in my stomach this whole time) for the scavs to finally chill out

Now they serve as convienient meatshields against vultures & whatever unholy creature is that yellow tentacle monster… AND THERES MORE THAN 1- Nah I’m cooked here

Day 7, Garbage Waste, signing off

The main menu changed again! Bro, I love these simple automatic changes to the menu. Idk but instantly being reminded of the place I’m at & seeing the game remember that just makes wanna stare at it for half the session🥹

But alas, I have some deaths to do & places/creatures to experience
