#Guy who usually plays fast-paced games tries Rain World

the ceiling bug in the room right before shoreline disappeared and now i dont think i can get enough food to even make it cycle 0
i'll try eating a scavenger i suppose
or i guess i could give up my coloured pearl to get back into garbage wastes, im not going to be able to try what i wanted with it anyways
got blown up
oh i can put the green thing in my mouth
huh? oh yeah
it works a little differently from the normal things in that you cant actually eat it
too bad i want to try giving both the pearl and the green thing to the blue robot, gotta keep it until i find out what happens
i like that the hunter starts with a coloured pearl though so i dont have to try and find one
ooh, are you going for the full pearl and greenie?
oh, well, most people throw it away on their hunter i mean
giving them to the robots is one of the ideas i have for what they might be able to do
and the green thing looks like the things in five pebbles and by the blue robot so i wanna try giving that to the robots too
wish i could find some easy food to just get to cycle 0 and see what happens
i forget if starving passes the cycle or not so i'll try that maybe
ok it does but i still need to pass one more cycle
thats my goal
although if i do only have like 20 cycles to get an ending, im not too sure if i'll be able to bring both to shoreline and still make it to the depths
i dont even have enough map knowledge to beat the hunter campaign yet i think
i noticed that with 3 echoes the max karma has 3 lines, and since the five pebbles robot bumps you up to the X, i wonder if maybe a 4th echo would be able to replace the five pebbles robot as far as ending requirements go? i already have the communication square, so
making it to just one thing can also be a good first step, esp. if youre doing hunter straight off your first survivor run
i think a lot of people recommend you leave hunter for later
the problem is the nearest echo that isnt just right there in farm arrays that i know of is all the way up in chimney canopy

im having fun at least
you don’t have to do that, it just takes patience
the new creature variants are very interesting
im not saying its the correct choice to do that, but just that hunter generally has a reputation for being tough
i think if i persevere and get over this hill now then i can have a really relaxing monk playthrough
i was expecting it to be difficult but it seems like the main difficulty comes from figuring out a route
some of the new enemies die pretty easily, they're just threatening if left alive
Trial and error is the best way
Hunter is not nearly the hardest campaign but it is a steep difficulty rise from surv so it can be pretty overwhelming sometimes. Some people do find it easier to come back later as some downpour campaigns slot in neatly in the rising ladder between surv-hunt. It is not necessary though and people had to make do without that privilege for like 6 years
I legit finished monk in one afternoon
It’s genuinely not as hard as people make it out to be, if you have patience and a good attitude it’s very rewarding
well, besides difficulty i think the bigger problem is knowledge checks
The crux of hunter is having a solid plan and navigational awareness
Everything else will be alright
wait
my scug brain is thinking
what if i grab the echo near the outskirts exit in farm arrays, go up and get the sky islands one, then traverse sky islands to get to chimney canopy for that echo, and then from there i can just go backwards, get the 4th echo near the subterranean, and then i can just run straight to the depths maybe
you could try it out yea
Solid, but what will become of your precious goods?
fuck em

ooh if i have to bring the pearl and green thing to shoreline in the winning run.... that complicates things a bit
baby steps i suppose, and keep my eyes peeled for the echo symbol graffiti

maybe i should do some more exploring on my survivor save
before anything else though i need to find out what happens at cycle 0
The good thing about a run that may be doomed, it is a good opportunity to explore or search or try out approaches that you won't have the time to in a winning run
true
one of the popcorn flowers randomly decided to refresh, time to find out what happens at cycle 0

first run's kills
interested to see how different they'll be compared to my final run's kills
tummy ache
goal for 2nd run is make a beeline straight to shoreline to see if the pearl and green thing can be given to the blue robot
Congrats on Cardiac Arrest Ending
i didnt get to see if there was a special death, the rain came first and i couldnt see whatever happened when the screen went dark
i think break for now
i'll start my 2nd run later maybe, otherwise i'll wait til tomorrow
time for 2nd run
i was thinking about how to route this, i wonder if it'd be better to go all the way through five pebbles instead of finding echoes
since then from shoreline i can go to the citadel and make my way to the leg
the hard part would be getting through the leg with enough karma to leave
i still dont know for sure whats up there if you come from the wall
if it is the depths things like i think it is, i wonder if having the communication square would be what triggers them to disappear?
Them? Up on wall?
A scary thought
Not a confirmation/denial of there being a blockade or not up there

That'll be a job for your investigation
going the reverse way would be much faster since i can just fall down through five pebbles and the leg instead of sleeping at each shelter
i'd have to bring a caterpillar up the wall though since i havent figured out any other easy way to get extra height up there
i suppose i can use this run to find out if anything's up there
Felpers have clearance to teach unintuitive mechanics if they are needed
Did you know you can spear into the ground? You may find it helpful on your travels

that would be easier than bringing a caterpillar with me
i'd just have to figure out how to do it
I or any other visiting felper will be happy to explain it if/when you ask, but it will be fun too to see if you can discover it yourself first
i'll try and experiment a bit myself first
i might just bring a caterpillar with me anyways too climbing up the wall with one might be fun
could save my life on the way down through the leg too
i just realized i wouldnt have any hand space if i bring a caterpillar since i want to keep the green thing
hmmm im gonna see if i can figure out how to get a spear into the ground before i properly start a run
dont wanna make it all the way up the wall and then accidentally get every nearby spear stuck in a wall
i just did it by accident i have no clue what made it work
also you can pick those up every time, unless they go off the map
ok i think i figured it out
the inputs are really uncomfortable though idk if im pressing an unnecessary key or not
now for the real 2nd run
What are the inputs you do, to make sure
left > right + jump > hold down and right > throw at the right time
you just have to hold down in general
and the window for the down stab is pretty much all of the backflip so its not precise
i'll have to train myself to stop holding the arrow keys when backflipping i suppose
well i mean you can still do it i mean
good thing i can practice that once i get up the wall since it cant rain after a certain point
it seemed like right arrow takes priority when it comes to throwing spears
ah
apparently a dogshit way to play rain world but still
also unmmmm dont forget there’s this cool game mode called sandbox
literally the practice button
oh right thats a thing that exists
Yeah the "and right" is the unnecessary key there
Have you ever heard of the wolf goat cabbage puzzle

the who in the whatnow
A guy with a boat needs to take a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage across a river
He can't have 2 things together in the tiny boat that'll try eat one another
Wolf and goat, or goat and cabbage
ohh i think i might've heard of this before
i need to keep the pearl in there too though aaaaaaaa
i think i have an idea though
i need to bring a blue flying bug maybe though since the white ones just fly away immediately
green thing fell off screen
AND THEN A CYAN LIZARD COMES OUT OF NOWHERE OK
those things are gonna be in every region arent they
just ate a scavenger
getting into the sky islands this way is proving to be a bit of a roadblock
im already not great at going through here normally but having to accommodate for the green thing means i have to spend more time here
im gonna take a break for now, i'll be back later for sure though
if only you could walk on the very walkable-looking background girder…
oh yeah if thing falls rip
ok im gonna sacrifice a cycle to sleep in the shelter closer to the gaps that i have to get green thing across
ideally i think i can make it to the middle of sky islands in the first cycle but not until i get good at keeping the green thing
still cant quite figure out what orange lizards do
it kinda seems like they might have some sort of hivemind mechanic where if one gets mad at you it alerts the others to start chasing you? not too sure though because i've also had times where some orange lizards just sit and do nothing while one chases after me
Have you ever seen one alone?
in the leg yeah
ok it has to be a hivemind thing one of them just appeared out of nowhere from a lizard tunnel like two seconds after i alerted another one
their tendril things all light up as soon as one gets mad
i have a new plan to get both the pearl and green thing across the big gaps, except the cyan lizards on the other side keep coming out to stop me and sometimes the flying bugs just disappear
ok so turns out you cant spit stuff out of your mouth while holding a flying bug
i hate these flying bugs they just fly upwards and never come back sometimes so if i take the time to throw the green thing across the gaps and then run back for a bug to get myself across they've all either been eaten by birds or gone up into the sky
i feel like i might go back to my original route
it'd be much more risky late into the run but at least i might be able to get rid of one or both of the gifts earlier by giving them to the blue robot
oh yea speaking of that
someone correct me if i’m wrong but i think there’s a bug with the squidcadas where they tend to fly offscreen rn
like theyll never come down

im gonna reset and go straight to shoreline instead of trying to go through five pebbles backwards
that way i can at least find out if i can even give stuff to the blue robot
i should actually doublecheck that again its been a second
wasnt really feeling it today but im gonna try and at least make it out of farm arrays
did not know this was gonna be here
will have to remember to grab a normal pearl for future attempts
seems like it
One time i saw a scavenger that was completely purple, it almost looked like it was glowing because it looked so out of place
the scav behind the slaughter
