All the advice I saw online said that going over the top of the exterior is extremely difficult and shouls not be attempted on a first run

You should make your own decisions about what is and is not too hard to do. That sort of thing is quite variable between players.

You can't go right. And you may be able to go up if you know some movement tech, but I'm not sure if you do.

Really, though, I'm a bit concerned about how insistent you are on getting through this region specifically. If you can't go right or up, your best option is just leaving the way you came (or using a Passage) and going somewhere completely different.

Yeah, going back to a previous area would help, then, both to learn the game in a safer environment and to find other paths to explore. Trying to force yourself down just one route makes the game really frustrating really quickly, and I suspect that's what's happening here.
