So I'm trying to get past these plants that drag me into the ground, and I know I need to ride a deer to get past them. I've ridden a deer in the past successfully but it was a few months ago and I think I just got lucky. My question is: is there any easy way to mount a deer? It's really frustrating when they leave too early or they're sitting down but im facing their head and theres nothing I can do.

grabbing onto their antlers doesnt seem to work sometimes
like im spamming shift and sometimes it works and other times it doesnt

if anyone is reading this, can I ask, is the grab antlers system based on how much they like you? ie random personality kind?
cause some I can easily grab, others no matter how hard i try i cant latch on
and one even showed me its antlers, like brought them down for me to grab very easily
