Survivor first playthrough and I'm stuck on the way back from [spoilers]
Explore
See what you can find
I would stay away from guides and researching online, the game is best experienced blindly
Just take your time
this does not help, I really want to finish this game as soon as possible so I can enjoy other gamemodes
Why the rush?
If you don’t learn how to play survivor you will struggle immensely in other campaigns
survivor is the worst experiance I had of rainworld, I just get eaten by things and cannot get any progress done
That experience will not change if you rush to another campaign
Itll jsut be more of the same, unless you properly learn how to avoid it by yourself
Other campaigns will not do that work for you
aren't other campaings suppose to have other characters that are easier to control?
No
huh?
No
The other campaigns have different experiences that vary in difficulty form player to player
But in general, all the campaigns are harder than the base ones you start with
If I'm struggling with survivor should I play monk instead?
Just take your time and learn how to overcome challenges
You can keep playing surv if you’re already doing it
Survivor and Monk arent too different
Monk is slightly more relaxed but still has its difficulties
like what?
I bought this game thinking it was metroidvania
Its very, VERY loosely one
The only thing you gain is knowledge which helps immensely if you know where to apply it
I would says it’s an open world survival platformer
yeah I learned that the hard way
I thought "Let me play more, the upgrades will surely come." and the upgrades were nonexistent
anyway
I'll probably play more tommorow and try to get progress done
Your “upgrades” are learning how to counter things as igna said
okay, I think I solved it?
the yellow thing was pointing back to the robot at looks to the moon so I went back there and picked up some flying things above the robot's head and dropped them back, it then triggered the cutseen I needed to get so the yellow guy is actually helping me now
the yellow thing isnt something you should rely on solely, its very sporadic in its "advice" regardless on what it thinks of you or not. rainworld is very non-linear and the lack of advice given ingame is on purpose. exploring and going into new things and dying over znd over is apart of the game. you arent losing or gaining progress in wherever you go
just have fun. if youarent having fun, then go somewhere else and return later
nah I think I made progress this time because when I went from looks to the moon without triggering anything, it kept pointing back to looks to the moon
now it no longer points to the robot and instead urges me back out to the shaded citadel?
following it is an option you can do, but it isnt required. it will still lead you regardless of where you are
im basically just encouraging you to do whatever you want. that is my goal.
If I decided to do whatever I want, I wouldn't really get progress because I'm lazy, I'd either start going around circles in the same region without actually getting progress done
but thanks for the advice anyway
I really hope I'll enjoy the rest of the game because it hasn't been really fun
rainworld can be really frustrating sometimes. i didnt even get what i was supposed to do at first really
main thing id reccomend is to do whatever will make it fun for you. in the end its all your choice
me neither, some ofmy progress is solely on guides I found on youtube
since I couldn't find my way back from looks to the moon or find my way to the ending on guides I came here for help
id reccomend to stray from the guides and more towards the wikis maps if you seriously prefer a more linear/controlled experience. you know where your going but dont know what to expect on the way.
i used the maps and still had alot of fun. experiencing it blind made me not want to plsy it personally. the way it should be played is just. however youd like too imo
and interactive maps do spoil a lot of content because of the labels and such you can find on the wiki pages
I don't like blind playthroughs when I'm doing the playthrough
i know, but i wouldn't recommend them
first playthough guides are here to help more with the guiding aspect if you need it and feel stuck
Jimmy tough knuckles over here
you can do whatever you want personally i'm just saying it's not recommended
and tbh guides are a better option over an interactive map at least in my opinion for minimal spoilers
depending on what the guide is that is
id reccomend to only use the maps from the wiki though. straying to far from those can give unwanted spoilers that genuinely can ruin the magic of the game
the wiki maps do give unwarranted spoilers, unfortunately
ive never used video guides for anything so i wpuldnt know what theyd be like
can you guys give me maps that won't ruin my experiance?
the ingame one
seriously though no online map is going to be completely spoiler free or save you from a "ruined" experience
and don't make jokes like that please
:
I cannot play this god damned game without anyone screaming "EXPLORE" into my face and calling me unskilled
odd and strange. ruined?
all in all it's your decision on what you choose i just don't recommend maps as someone who did use them
me personally its fine cause i have amnesia/sillying.
that's the words op used
any tips other than "explore" and "do what makes the game fun"? like actual tips on how to beat the game?
exploring is how you get more skilled at the game, getting skilled at the game makes you beat it, and if you arent having fun whilst exploring then what is the point of playing at all?
the entire game is about experience. its non linear in its base self. you can literslly ignore all of your objectives and run off into whatever region never to be seen again. experience requires exploring.
the thing about rain world is that it's nonlinear and if you plan to play any of the other slugcats or campaigns, rushing towards the end could make things much harder for you
the furhter you go into the game its going to get harder.
the other campaigns rely upon you being familiar with the map and gameplay already

I've been exploring from the start of the game which is around 24 hours... only skill I learned is how to backflip, how to slide, how to roll and how to escape predetors better
we know thats not what you want to hear but thats.. the whole game. your tryjng to make the game what its not
and thats good!!!!
you know more than i do haha
these are the basic traversal skills, this is like the most basic thing any rainworld player would know in the span of 12 or less hours
why can't I play as the fat slugcat from the start of the game and crush things to death?
Because you should first learn the basics.
WORD?!
.. he is not calling you unskilled. gourmand is harder
the reason why the characters are locked in that order is so that players will learn the game by beating survivor first
you could also try monk and see if its more enjoyable for you : )
I think I'm getting better
nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
killed my first lizard
roasted them lizor
Rainworld is like a sort of metroidvania where instead of the slugcat getting stronger, the player gets smarter. You have everything you need to beat the game in just your little gooey slugcat body. In due time you could be blasting through the game very skillfully thanks to nothing other than your mind, and knowing how to apply to scenarios, using the dozens of tools around you, and countering techniques for specific enemies
So, getting through it really is just about exploring and problemsolving. Experience and understanding will come naturally just by moving forwards.
Regarding the map situation you don't really need one for the reason that the game's nonlinear. There are multiple gate connections in each region. If you looked at the world map it's like a spiderweb. What does this mean? It means that all roads lead to Rome ... eventually. Just stick to a route that works with you and eventually by pure accident you'll wander into the story-progression milestone places.
this somehow makes sense and doesn't at the same time?
Basically there's no right and wrong directions
There's right direction and there's right direction but it takes longer
It all gets there one way or another
Like a loop
hollow knight is easier than comprehending this
A good mindset to suggest is going by process of elimination
I'd beat pantheon 5 easier than beating rainworld
You have an ingame minimap, showing you which rooms you've seen, and it shows you all pipe endings that you haven't entered yet
I've been to looks to the moon and back, I know this
If you reach a bad spot or something that feels like a deadend (there's almost no natural deadends in the game but ehh) just double back and look at the next one
Then you have the arsenal you need to make it through
quick question
how do I get rid of the giant vine monsters at the bottom of shaded citadel
Well; what do you know so far about how they work?
they reach out for me and they're intimidating, I can get past the ones far enough to dodge but some are directly on the path and won't let me cross
ofc (for legal reasons this is a joke)

no but I'm sure it sees me because it directly reaches out to my exact coordinates
it's shaded citadel, everyone and everything here knows my exact coordinates without having eyes
Nothing in rainworld just does things like that for the kicks, there's elaboration for everything
THEN ELABORATE
Every animal is a little level puzzle in itself
|| The five senses
you make a lot of noise running or splashing. ||
If anything else fails in a given situation, you can always try and fall back on ol reliable. Amything can be injured.
and you know how to injure things. It doesn't take a puzzle to crack that
how does a plant hear me
yes
I threw 5 spears at the fucker, I did nothing, it staggers and wilts but gets back up before I can pass through
tbh id believe it if someone told me there was a plant irl that could hear, life can do a lot of wierd things
IT GETS UP BEFORE I EVEN ENTER THE WATER
You could always get in the water first
Nice and close, and shank it at the last second
on my way back to the hibernation chamber, two lizard just dropped down from the pipe above and they're blocking the path 😭
I fucking hate this game

... ima be honest with you here thatll be happening a lot with this game
it happened to me today, a few times actually
they aren't even purple ones either, theyre the transparent ones with glowing heads
I think I'm stuck here
I'm now in industrial complex, there are two vultures and a green lizard harassing me
I'm stuck in a pipe
and u cant get out?
nah I just got out, the vultures tried eating eachother and the green lizard was distracted so I sneaked out
ooo epic
nevermind
the grren vulture from before ate me
can I ask why does my yellow guy sometimes turn blue? or a blue one appear at the same time?
oh i missed this thread
i see good progress there
one day you will know how to survive in this concrete jungle with ease
foirse
Sometimes typos are too impressive to fix
dude those fucking suckk. i swear to god i see them everywhere. they are easy to deal with but their abundance is genuinely laughable cause of how annoying it is
so I've been exploring like you guys told me and I came into a place clled pipeyards?
Very interesting!
He found yipepard guys
LETS FUCKING GO dont lose any of your loved ones in there to their crippling gluttony
what is this? why is this? how is this?
who is this? where is this? when is this?
I'm genuenly confused how do I get the minus karma?
you can always just keep it in mind and come back to it later
how about actually helping someone out instead of saying "JusT ExPlOrE!"?
felpers respond the way that they do because this games spirit is that you are helpless and confused in an unfamiliar environment. this game may seem frustrating at times but please do not get hostile at people trying to point you in the right direction
point me where?
they told me to just explore like that'll change anything?
news flash, I've been exploring for like 3 days with no help
nothing
that genuinely is the best answer for this specific spot though
there's no need to be rude about it
Not everything has something you can do right in that moment.
This game is primarily an environment simulator. Exploring is a key aspect of the game. You find things and come back later with new knowledge.
That's how the game works and that's how we help.
sorry if I sounded rude, I was just annoyed at that moment. Sorry for my outburst
it's all okay
this game can be frustrating at some times
