I've tried simply standing still when they arrive and crouching.
it seems to have worked for the original deer in the first area i met with a lot of grass but the second time it didn't
I can send you a screenshot of the area if it helps

No not really, there were a few poles at the first 2 patches that i could use to jump in the grass with speed to get past it but going a bit further, the grass was way denser and there weren't any poles

these are the items im throwing at the grass but it didn't seem to affect them aside from making them angry as it seems
when i throw it at them they make a weird bellowing sound or something kinda like a whale
