Hi! Hope i am doing it right, first time posting.

So i finished Monk (twice), gourmand and survivor and i am now trying spearmaster.

I really struggle to be on ok terms with scavengers, i had no troubles with the others (though i know that Monk attracts less agression in general) in the sense that they never really attacked me on sight and getting the chieftain karma was never too much trouble.

Now, with spearmaster, even though i have infinite spears to give them in theory...i kind of struggle to be on good terms with scavengers and since the whole scav familly is generally in my way, it would be really hard to go anywhere without at leasy having them to chill out a little. I came back in the outsquirts so i don't get insta speared by 4 scav bosses.

Well...i spent a few cycles giving them pearls and spears. But no progress. Is that chieftain karma usually mega hard to get? Was i simply super lucky before? I am now giving them stuff in their "checkpoint" (the place in which you give them stuff to pass). Does it not count? Am i missing something ?

(Even gave them a king vulture mask. What wouldn't you do for them.....)

Also, i have been giving them colored pearls ||(i know they have other uses but not my priority right now)||. Its nice because they are still around after you go to sleep. Can they see through my strategy and notice i am giving them the same pearl?

I know the basics with scavs : don't run at them with weapons in hands but, even then... they bother me even more than red lizards haha!

(Ps, i have the downpour mod that make the scavs slighty less agressive at first but it does not seem active with the spearmaster. Idk if that changes anything but i play on switch)

scavengers are intelligent beings that can be interacted with and will form opinions on you

downpour itself doesnt change that fact, some slugcats are just disliked or liked more than others at the start

I vaguely heard some people found it very easy to be buddy with them since you have infinite spear to give them, but....well i admit it can be complicated to, at once, give them weapons and not have any weapon to not scare them...

Mostly just want to at least progress a little on that chieftain karma so i get a survival chance when the whole scavenger familly is in the way (which happens a lot in this run), but...if what i am doing is not useless (was not sure that giving them the same colored pearls + spear in a checkpoint, in that specific configuration (easier than waiting for a lone scav to show up) worked)

But if i just have to try and try what i am already doing then i will

Mostly my worry is that even through many cycles of trading with them (and avoiding to do faux pas) there is zero progress in their attitudes toward me so i was unsure if the configuration of what i was trying to do was flawed or if spearmaster just really has a negative charisma haha.

But if i just have to be even more patient i can try that

I was on my way to deliver some gifts in the nearest scav toll place and i hear an explosion off screen. Then a dead vulture, a dead lizzard and some dead scavs rain on me. Nobody is alive to receive my gift.

Damn, spearmaster must really have an abysmal reputation to begin with, many cycles of trading many spears and pearls with the scavs and no progress on that

Interestingly, some "downpour help mods" work with spearmaster, but others are disabled. To be sure, i made sure of having the "survivor" karma unlocked in case the chieftain was locked behind

I always doing it at one of their "toll" because its the only place i have a chance to not be speared on sight

Well spearmaster is geared to, uuuh...spear things so hypothetically i could try to get rid of them... but i am not super confident since they are literally everywhere.

Went too far with it to just give up now, but i didn't expect it to be so hard in comparison to survivor

Could it be that i should try to interact with them in another zone? I spent all this time in the outskirts, though "lone scavs" still spear me on sight as if i insulted them even if i manage well with the tolls. But idk if scavs relations (in general not just individually) are a bit "all or nothing".

Cause i am not sure all i did improved my general reputation at all 🤔

yeah basically, after many pearls and spears it's....not even like my progress is stuck, mostly the karma never had any progression

If you’re not far in you could try restarting the save or just continue and genocide the scavs

I....could try to go full offense if it does not work, but i admit it's bothersome if i just can't play like i want because of a glitch

apparently the "no survivor karma restriction" is the cause of the glitch so i will see if disabling it works

Things are still weird

You know, though? Its not the first bug i get on switch with RW. And switch exports are always a bit limitated too (not necessarily graphically for this game, but not all extensions are there).

But i do like this game, so even if i already finished 3 characters (and its too bad to buy a game twice, even if at least i bought it on sales on switch)...i was thinking of just get the PC version so i won't be bothered and i will be chill with the game

Cause yeah not my first problem on switch sadly, and i don't want extra frustrations with a game i like

if you plan to buy it on steam, i recommend at least waiting for a sale which steam does quite often

they should be having an autumn sale in about a month

I gave them like 3 pearls and a handful of spears and the chieftain karma made a jump! Its almost maxed out.
Conclusion : it was really a bug on switch

Its funny to see the scavs debate among themselve

i forgot to get the mental message transmission in the outskirts on my PC replay....eh i will come back later for it if i come back in this zone, or with extra karma passages

Got to say though that with the lizards being afraid of me + the scavs generally not being after my skin, the chimneys never have been easier

even being harrassed by 2 king vulture (+ some low rank vulture tagging along) was not too much of a hinderance in comparison

vultures are annoying but i rarely died to those

they come from the sky but are a bit clumsy and they definitely can't follow you everywhere

waterfront facility is cool, but i have zero idea on how to pass those leeches (near the ladder)

i usually wait until they go away for a bit, but these ones in particular are not interested in doing so

and even if i time it right, i can't raise myself on that ladder fast enough so they can't catch me and drag me down

guess that the "right side" of the ladder is the best bet (high enough) but it's very tricky

Or try interacting with the leeches in other ways

I know i usually can reach that zone through the shaded citadel (though idk if its still the shaded citadel in this era) but it would be a huge backtracking. Which...i guess is something to consider if those leeches keep being like this

I tried some things but i don't have much on me, just the pearl 5P made me cough up and my spears 🤔

I managed once because some scavs came by and took some leeches in passing haha
But then a lizard got me

I wonder how much of the cycles and simulations and undeath is a meta metaphore (odd word order) but also i re-played a lot of undertale/deltarune these days i am biased, i kind of had suspicion about karma shots "ascending" things, due to the "X" karma being associated with ascention and not registering as a "kill"....

i feel like playing artificier is going to be an emotional whiplash, ironically (they seems explosive, but..)

well... except for alternate endings i only have hunter left (not counting watcher who i keep for the end because it seems huge). I guess it's a non dlc character. Should i do a separate thread? i guess i am in the end of my vanilla+downpour "blind" discovery so idk, i don't think i will spend a lot of time on hunter (but who knows) so idk if i would do a whole thread fo them anyways

Well i was hopping that 5P took on a pearl reading hobby since i helped him and moon with rivulet, but nope. However he properly thanked rivuley and i notice that his overseer tend to try to help me now, hehe.

I was trapped by grassworms. By reflex i just threw away whatever i had on hands. Including a flashbomb (the blue things). Must have created some glitch because rivulet just.....flew away. Like Saint would. And so i survived.

with my pearl hunt (the item tracker mod makes it easy, especially since i already found some stuff on switch so i know where some pearls are + i picked up some things in my first runs with various characters and rivulet makes it very easy to comb the areas) i am finding lot of chatlogs

Also seeing how UI and NSH can be, it's kind of funny to realise that 5P is not "formal and stiff and no bullshit" because that's how iterators are, that's just his personality

Can hardly blame him for being socially awkward though

(well Moon was not at all like 5P to begin with, but she is not like NSH or UI at all either, she was still a bit formal when i first talked to her)

I think they are somewhat independent and but i suppose it also happens because 5P warmed up to rivulet ?

If they are not somewhat influenced by him, the way his overseers would show me the way to his core would be kind of darkly funny (mutiny that works out)
