there is another way, but you'll have to backtrack a long distance in the direction you came

You can keep trying the two ways up or down or load a backup
There is another way through Five Pebbles which you can more easily find from the previous shelter

As for this though, you can try hanging on to the tentacles above a gap and jump off once the gravity turns on, the velocity might help you avoid getting grabbed by the daddy tentacles
I don't imagine it being harder on average going back down than up

there are many paths you can take in all stages of the game, so if one is frustrating you should try another

Not from before cuz that sent me too back, into the leg where the ddl spawn camped

Backups are automatically made every 30 mins so the latest one shouldn't send you too far back

There is another way through five pebbles, it's just very difficult to get back to once you've saved on the Unfortunate Development path - that's why I'm recommending you load a backup so you can choose a different direction
