RW is a lot more variable (randomness can screw you or you can dominate the game).You can get unlucky and get chomped by an enemy appearing from out of nowhere or you can trivialize certain campaigns by knowing about certain mechanics which reduces the difficulty inmensly

In general Silksong will probably offer a bit more of difficulty no matter what since hard bosses will still require you to lock in to win.

what I was saying is that despite that death is ofc punishing in rw it doesn't really prevents you from progressing or disturbs your gameplay loop in general because the point of it isnt progressing in the first place
Like in skong you can search the entire area and kill every enemy but never progress and eventually have nothing left to do if you're stuck on that skill check in the form of a boss but in rw the point is to be in and skitter around that area interacting with it in various ways

not to say though that moving forward isnt needed in rw at all

||I used wanderer and stayed in the left corner, during the arena you can pogo the enemies from there as they’ll come up from under you, and you’re out of the way of most attacks and traps. For groal I just jumped into his mouth every time he did that attack, with injector band and multibinder you can out heal that damage and easily beat him. Just make sure to avoid the rest of his attacks and play it slowly||

really the only time I was taking damage is when I ran into cover-the-arena attacks like a bozo or getting caught in the air
fun fact, you can dash downwards at any time after getting swift step to quickly return to the ground
but I can't implement it on my moveset to save my life, mostly because any aerial attack may be avoided by just... staying grounded. Do less instead of salvaging a already lost move

Counter and block are not part of the moves itself, they trigger if you attack (or the boss feel like you are likely to attack) after X ammount of time after the boss finished the last move

It's ment to force you to think how many hits you do and always be nearby so you don't lose your oportunity to punish them

It's not uncommon to have a valley after a peak ||(bell eater after Act 2 ending + starting act 3 with that annoying void arena or Cogwork dancers after act 1 ending)|| so you can readjust your hype levels to not have infinite powercreep. Also some games make a big challenge end with a ||"joke" boss (Bed of Chaos in DS1 has a weird "boss-like encounter" (Coral tower arena) that ends with you killing the easiest boss (enemy that can't move)|| to showcase that their strenght didn't lie simply on their muscles

only post-needolin do you get a few alternate paths to progress farther

(not counting the fleas because you still have to Deep Docks+Hunter's Fields for the dash and Far Fields for the cloak, so it doesn't actually skip anything)
