#Kalum Plays All Of The Mods (Probably Slowly)
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I downloaded like, the top 20 most popular campaign mods a while back and I'm gonna go down the list and become ultimate master of modding
this is the one I was already playing and I have no clue what it's called but I bet some modders do
I think this is the first gate I've seen all campaign
Withered Wall
looks like I'm entering an iterator area chamber-side, I wonder if it'll be a mod version of Chasing Wind or a new fella entirely
actually I dont remember who all has white overseers
dead fella
aww man. first simulation freeze
and I was just getting into a cool area
MOD IDEA: mod where you press a button and it waits until X amount of ingame seconds have passed but no ticks have passed and instantly resets the cycle with no karma consequences
(so that if you get a simulation freeze you can press it to not have to suffer but you wouldnt be able to abuse it otherwise)
should I be grabbing the exception log files for these and throwing them at the mod devs if it came from their mod 🧐
I bet some people would appreciate that
total scam (skip to end)
I knew it was gonna happen before I even made the jump
same thing happened in sky islands 💔
also I notice this uses some of the local group symbols but I have no way of knowing if that's lore-relevant or if the mod is just re-using assets
Done for tonight; I've seen a whole bunch of regions and ended up looping back around to the starting area but I think I know where I wanna explore next 🥱
kalum fp thread!??! I must see this.
me too
forgot to mention but I thought it was funny that the iterator used the term "map" when describing where I should go
very videogamey terminology to use to a rodent
I would love to follow this thread but. haven't played Winters End
I have been in this little subregion tower area above the iterator for a significantly long period of time
:3
might be lore
It's not re assets
I made some parts and modified a bit to fit things
Still working on expansion
reached the top
so many lizards
One of my favourite part
Getting over it type
does this campaign have credits to be reached btw
I did some riv-esque thing to get power to the iterator but I assume there's something more
just dont wanna push towards a non-existent goal if it isnt there 🤏
Have you fix the power?
Why not go cryobloom and hold down to finish the campaign
Unless you want to get all pearls or echos (as long you got some because you need drone to unlock the power region)
Especially secrets
Yesh you should go to cryobloom chamber and hold down for a bit
Well keep hold down longer if you notice gravity goes down
😟
Don't worry about it it's letting cryobloom lower the gravity for Snowflake to sleep
is the hold down thing communicated anywhere?
Communicated anywhere?
It's only in the chamber since it's how the campaign ended
like, does the game tell you that you gotta hold down to end the campaign
Yes
I got to the chamber but just left after the iterator dialogue and didnt realize the ending was right there 😔
ignore deathcount that isnt real
i need to fix beecat to have its own timeline and balance it out in the winter's end world
Only experienced players mod 🥹
I would consider myself an experienced player
I just spent a lot of time at that wall area bruteforcing it and grinded out deaths there 🙂
playing a cat with regular movement after a one with enhanced movement is always jarring
mod idea
slugcat in cold world that gains heat by moving and the faster you move the more heat you gain
so you can survive super far into the blizzard but only by constantly pulling off sick tricks
mod idea
bee slugcat that has one spear "stinger" that deals a lot of damage, but it is permanently attached to you and has a short range
perhaps you are weaked while the spear is out akin to a bee dying after a sting
but you can re-attach it to fix that
(for this to work you'd have to nearly disable all natural spear spawns)
Movement tech slugcat
it would be really funny if you had a tony-hawk-esque movement combo display in the corner
like "4x roll + crawlturnvault + pole grab"
and an assigned point value for each 😌
Not sure if I'll be able to pull off something like that, detecting movement based on a threshold
Roll will be easy but other movement tech
you could use states for the basic stuff
just points based on the amount of time in a certain state

huh? speed increased
beecat is actually awful and terrible because you cant do wallpounces 😢
I dont think echoes are supposed to be this big
really unsure of what I should be doin so far as the bee fella
went to the iterator to say hi and got brushed off
wouldnt even murder me 💔
aha! I didnt notice the orb before I crashed into it last time but I can read it now
Sting Damage Increased
I have a sting ability?
is that my maul?
I feel like this grass is probably not intentional
lol, going to the Snowflake's spawn brings up the tutorial messages for its abilities
,,,,,, beecat
What would happen if a mole of beecats
k10 acquired and I still have no clue what I'm supposed to be doing 🧐
You don't know what to do? Average RW experience
<@&1387651053511770112> OHHHH THREE OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ROLE
I have a sneaking suspicion that the winter's end beecat thing isnt actually a proper campaign and just Slugcat In Worldstate™; do any of you know if that is or isnt the case 🧐
I’m assuming not finished based on this message from the dev
I thought the same thing but I saw this comment and it confused me
@charred prairie actually I probably just should've pinged you from the start
Beecat has 2 campaigns the legacy one without Winter's end and the WE one
I've got Winter's End activated 🤏
Myzti knows more, but due time zone is sleeping
alright this is the next one on my mods list, I've heard a lot of people mention it
eat the rocks
Oh have fun with this one
one of the best
Btw, if you're ever confused if a campaign Has A Point™, you can just check the files to see if there's any cutscene art
but what if there IS cutscene art and then I'm spoiled 😔
Oh, dw they're double-foldered. So you can just crack open the illustrations folder and see if they have anything other than, like, the sleep screen lmfao
Sometimes they have an ascension end screen
Did you sink?
anyways I went into the pipe at the end of this room and got the "miros bird kills you in the pipe" glitch
also officially on my bucket list is "kill a leviathan"
because you can convert blue fruit to lanterns to fire eggs 🧐
Gravel eater, good choice
One of the best
between rivulet and saint worldstate it seems
post-collapse but pre-snow
cant be post-saint because the rot is doing well
unless you argue for some niche rot interpretation where it comes back once things warm up
oh, eating more makes you less bouyant
I guess that explains this comment
oh hm that's different from MSC
lore implications
I keep hearing rot squelch noises in lttm
(it was my stomach actually)
do the garbage worms hate me because I eat their garbage 😢
Beecat ending? Go up the top of the tower
It has ending but I need to tinker the world state and balance creatures
even showed it to the iterator and got a "..."
the pearl at the top of the tall tower (the segment you compared to Getting Over It)
on top of the iterator structure
nothing came of it 🧐
maybe it was an effect someone else made so it was just easy to slap it in
oh is the gravel-eater based off of that one pearl dialogue about the old methods of ascension
starving yourself with gravel and tea and whatnot
sub echo seems to imply that
probably should've realized
Yes it is.
AFAIK it started as a joke about that and then evolved into something more proper.

yeah, huge inspiration
okay so gravel-eater was or is a similar being to echoes, but is not bound to a single location under this interpretation of echo lore
and the question is... how
💔 I accidentally fell during the sky islands echo dialogue, could anyone nab that off of the mods wiki page so I dont have to peep the horrors
Do you hear it? The voice that calls from your very being? I'm familiar with it. It's pronounced within the air... But now, it's fainter. Calling from another place... How you have relocated your buzz, 'tis a mystery to me.
K9 acquired, I think I'm out of proper echoes
maybe I have to return back to the starting one
I recall it saying I should return when I need it most
this feels apt
unless shoreline echo is there, but I doubt that for some reason
suspiciously voidlike filtration system
is it gonna be like, halfway to the rubicon state but not quite
since this should be almost saint
yeah I was pretty much right
blue paint
bluebicon
I think I see where this is going
did that so its easier for people to know where to go
yellow paint moment fr
alright, Gravel Eater completed
that one was pretty good
I noticed "Balance achieved" only appeared like halfway through the kill counts showing up, after the met pebbles and moon ones
no clue what it means 🥱
lol I did not do that
on Pearlcat now
k10 'cause echoes were on the way to OE
OE ending acquired but I have a hunch there's a good bit more to see
the added area on top of pebbles has some gate with the dashed line; I dunno why they'd add that if you couldn't access it at some point
I dont know why the baby died though maybe that is explained more somewhere else
or maybe I just wasnt paying attention
oh wait no it's just sickly
I suppose I will go to pebbles since he heals you a bit as hunter 🫴
otherwise ascending is the classic solution
oh is this supposed to be where the citizens crossed over from the precipice
you are smashing these out
pearlcat went very quickly
love how the deaths go from 194-54-4 as my rust wears off 😌
back into the rainworld flow
although pearlcat was just easier too
have you played not slugcat playables? if not im slapping you with a spoon
I do not know what that is
... the playable scav, lizard, rot and (wip) parasite slugcat
isnt that one pretty new
im currently mostly trying to go through all of the all-time popular mods; I sorted by most popular all time to grab the ones I did :P
but ill get to it eventually
have you tried the outsider
its very fun to play as but sadly the claustrophobic areas of rain world prevent you from utilizing its flight much
but its ok theres mothpups and they're so fucking cute
(which isnt rly a spoiler cus they dont spawn naturally, you need to use dev console iirc
ah you probably know all this
(Me or someone else can give you a list. It won't make the game explode, don't worry
)
I'll install some extra regions once I've done All Of The Campaigns 🤏
install all of the regions at once and go for the Wanderer Passage
that's a campaign in itself
I think the pips would go offscreen
Eventually the pips turn into a progress bar (if we recall correctly)
I'm curious what the maximum official All The Regions list is lol. And if it includes regions that technically work but not really,
you can check the wiki to see most of the vailable region mods out there and check which ones you would like to try out
I would argue it's better to look around the Workshop - there's probably more information regarding its stability (either in the mod page itself or through comments and update notes), and less potential spoilers.
Hmmm, i would say that both have Its pros and cons, because for example not all region mods are Tagged as such so some of them wont appear when you search them
Also we usually include notes about a region's stability in Its page
Although i was mainly mentioning It just for the list, not necessarily reading each page
Also we usually describe the stuff in the region but i would say that most of the Time Its not that spoilery? But yeah fair
Shrouded Assembly:
Search "region", don't use the tag.
spoilery pages are marked with spoilers where applicable
Yeah
Huh does this even works
for like the big stuff you wouldn't want to know prior like big secrets or lore
it looks for any page with "region" on it
not necessarily tagged with it though I think it does include those too
but this can be title or description
so it only fails if the mod put nothing indicating it's a region in the title or description
which I wouldn't be surprised if there are quite a few of those
though in all fairness I also doubt those would be high quality regions either
the unfortunate reality is that to find every region, ya gotta look through every mod manually
fortunately, the best ones are popular, so its nbd
Surely a mod adding a region is going to say "adds a new region" somewhere
You’d hope
I think the best way to ensure you’ve covered it all is to subscribe to every item on the workshop (using like a script or something) and then seeing which ones modify regions.txt
Literally yeah. Some campaigns do the double whammy: don't tag their mods properly And Also have custom regions that just, are there

less
I guess it is mostly just images
if enough people just paste the entire downpour code into their mods we can bump those numbers up though
would this end up counting Woke World as a region mod
since it changes region names, which I would assume are stored in the main region text file
Wouldn't it be more efficient just to detect the existence of a world folder
there's a good >3000 or so items on the workshop but afaik the biggest one is a bit over 1 GB (Old New Horizons), the 200ish regions (this is purely a guess) are typically less than 300 MB (usually between 100-200 MB), and the >50% of DMS mods and other code mods on the workshop are < 5 MB most of the time
no, in the case of mods that simply add or modify a room
Fair fair, but some "region" mods are just extensions of an existing region
What would be the line?
ig but I'm discounting region extensions because there isn't really a line between a region expansion and modifying a few rooms
I'm purely speaking of adding new ones
Also, you could immediately halve the amount you'd need to download by excluding dms
yeah I mentioned that
I see, I am blind. Nods
Now I'm curious
Mmm
Yeah, I'm not surprised there
I thought ONH had more regions but I might be wrong
Reclaiming entropy is... Disturbingly detailed. But it's an outlier
I wonder how big SLT would be bundled together
actually I might just try to figure that out
I'm tempted to actually check the statistics of all the mods I have rn. I have about a third of the workshop downloaded rn
And they're mostly regions
Hm
But no all-region-mods playthrough is complete without EXSU/EXHI/DS+/EXUW
Ds+ never worked for me
sadge
Outskirts and Drainage System are some very high-quality modded regions.
Has it been updated?
Oof
It has not. For 2 years
Those regions are both pretty dang large, and also. Detailed. Huh.
gonna try factoring in the other mods in the collection though lmao
holy shit
Sksksks
EXSU and DS+ are picky about their load order I think, and you have to set it manually.
my mod is gonna have a 30 minute long mp3 cutscene with a consistent confetti+snow particle effect
Exsu has always treated me right
we love exsu
but the hassle is worth it if you can get them to work
That'd do it lmfao
But the confetti will be coded for sure, unless you make a WAV confetti and slap it over the screen 🥹
I wonder how much custom illustrations contribute to the size
I've seen jankier solutions
ok so the entire sunlit trail collection takes up approximately 2.2 GB from what I've calculated using the steam workshop pages
Not bad! That's a dlc for ya
for all mods in here https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3235980359
oh wait no I meant mp4
mp4 cutscene
the cutscene will be made entirely with effects but then the effects will be recorded and turned into an mp4 to maximize filesize
guess how big the seer is. because it surprised me
it can hear karma level requirements
it's gameplay footage
too high
10 trillion
Ohhh? 50?
spot on. it's 61.7 MB
Desert Bus has an echo in the Saint's time but the entire encounter with it is prerendered
which I guess makes sense because it does actually modify vanilla regions and has images and stuff
rendered in 4K resolution but they didn't apply scaling to it so you only get to see a tiny fraction of it in the tiny 1366x768 game window
the video is just the 1366x768 game window upscaled to 4K anyways
title bar included
also the echo dialogue should be a voice over by morgan freeman
I've made it to Shaded Citadel, feels like a fitting place to put extra content for this fella if there is gonna be any
this darkness mechanic works pretty well with pebbles
Another one down
it didnt take me too long I just didnt play for a few days 👻
Idea: Once I start doing the modded regions, I'll draw art of each one as I go through it to Spice up Life and make it more Interesting
Slowly falling in the modding hole
ok im back im gonna do the thing I said I was gonna do
hey gamers do you have any recommandations or like, a list of all of the modded regions I should download that wont explode my computer
you should totally play GHTS /silly
Sunlit Trail is a must, and CW shouldn't explode your computer with batflies anymore hopefully
preservatory too, hanging gardens, Shrouded Assembly off the top of our head
pokedex4848 put a proper list in #modded-gameplay
PLAY MY REGION https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3539078233 DO IT!!!!!!!
hmmm
well uh
The Preservatory

Sky Tower
Soaring Lookout
Stormy Coast
Sun-Scorched Forest
Sunlit Power Plant
The Grinder
The Mast
Underbelly
Underpass
Undersea
imma mark off all of the ones from here I've already downloaded
The Sunlit Trail is a Steam collection, use that
ill get it dw
Stormy Coast / Coral Caves is gonna be really funny
Fog Gulch and Steaming Edifice are two parts of a mod called "Shrouded Assembly"
colloquially known as Shrembly, I've heard
Floating Isles is a 1.5 mod
yeah I've heard there are a lot of those
I'm surprised it's available for 1.10
I'll have to try em all out separately, after I finish the sisyphean task of doing these
It was Wrayk (the Watcher dev)'s first mod, and they don't think it's up to their modern standards, so they're not maintaining it AFAIK
(lies. it's lots of fun
)
The Sunlit Trail collection also comes with a campaign mod
never played it, not sure how it interacts with other mods
I would suppose it's probably best to just play the Survivor?
it's a Collection, not a regular workshop item
these people
oh right, awesome
in true Wrayk fashion
(if you download Undersea make sure to also download the US <-> WF fix mod)
And I think there's a Gilded Sanctuary spawn fix mod too? Not sure, it could have been made redundant since I last checked.
OH
EXSU, Expanded Industrial, DS+, Expanded Leg
not technically new regions, but very good region mods nonetheless
Oh and also Solar's Outskirts and Industrial Complex remakes. I think they're compatible with everything else? Take a look at their workshop pages, at least.
wait I forgot I need to be using my spare rainworld time to be doing The Thing™ 😔
I'll have to put this off for a bit
GS spawns were fixed (and updated) recently
The Thing™?
secret
Scaggytown,bheh
ok I enabled all of the region mods ever
nvm it's still applying mods
only gonna play for like an hour tonight
and it seems that roughly 30% of that time will be spent loading mods
this feels reasonable
aough I touched the same eye with my pepper hand that I touched like 10 minutes ago with the same pepper hand
ok we up to 75
the game is struggling
glorious
first cycle im noticing some white glyphs in the tutorial rooms
I dont recall if those were there before
first new room
found a gate almost immediately
kalum dms
they really just throw these things in there in random spots lol
turned up my music volume for the first time since my first playthrough
gotta hear the new tunes
first region- "Curious Ascent"
I think that I will go down instead
to be evil
gate in upper left
gonna map out the whole place first
I ❤️ pointless CTVs (skip to end of clip)
I lose time by going for them instead of playing normally
oh wow, tiny region! 🤏
are most modded regions like this? I guess it probably varies
welp, onto the next!
ope, it's just chimney
first death to a failed grapple in a random chimney room
heading back to outskirts
I think the optimal way to do this is to clear each region's connections fully before moving on
ermm one room connects incorrectly
these region remakes are made by @eager hazel right
oh is it just Like That
funky.
I think it might be an incompatibility with this "Floating Isles" region I just entered
@undone moon this region is yours right
Yes
Oh dhit
Um i didnt make it compatible with fi cause its an unofficial port
fair enough
Sorry kalum
it didnt crash the game or anything and that's what counts
it looks nice 🙂
I've only seen like, the easternmost 5 rooms so far tho
Status Update: Too Many Blue Lizards
Cool but yeah i can release a patch but kinda cant cause ill upload my accidental plans
Welcome to Floating Isles
I survived
What is that DMS skin
isnt it beautiful
anyways see ya kalum
I was thinking more "Apostate Smiley Face Abomination" but sure
... is that a real FI room
it's the original version of that one secret room in Badlands
watcher or OG badlands
watcher
I think it's in torrid
yeah that's confusing
oh yeah it's in torrid :whydidtheyremoveslugfacepalmwhataaaaaaaaa:
here's a cool room
aww man I got stuck in weird platforming between a screen transition and a lizard got me
"cloud condensation"
still within FI
oh fun a vulture nest
underwater wormgrass! that's fun
this region is lacking in shelters a bit
found one, but I think I'm gonna hop off 🥱
new player immediately going to Floating Isles since it connects to Outskirts
Just like old times...
what's the definition of New Player here
new to mods I suppose
but I do have like 1500 hours 🧐
its actually @quartz sable's
🧐
well you're doing a first playthrough
bad news: it is an official port. it was made by bro and then held onto wrayk forever and then wrayk eventually gave permission for someone else to upload it like 2 years later
tbf it lines up with how floating isles is regarded in the community
i liked fi
yeah but it's still pretty heavily firstregionitis
one of the first regions i played
power plant I think was more firstregionitis than floating isles though
ehhh i think its better than a lot of first regions
power plant hehe pp
gah im a child
well ill try and make a fix
it just wont be now cause im doing repo work
and i dont want to accidentally upload my new stuff
but why didnt wrayk upload it 🥹
because wrayk hates floating isles
also i wish wrayk didnt accidentally kill the leditor files for it
it couldve been immortalized on the repo
solar I will warn you if I release a region, you won't be getting the leditor files for it. I'd rather they stay on my own repos so I can make changes to them easier if needed. (though the repos for the regions will be public)
that'd work
peak
also i made the props init in the repo better finally
i just gotta make the other inits better
the spawns are interesting
anyways see yua
3 leviathans and they can only enter 1 room 😊
so peak
Hey man ill never make something that great, dont flatter me
cant wait for eroded isles
Floated Refinery
BTW if you wanna turn a modded regions playthrough into an actual playthrough with an objective
use the Quality of Death Collection to make Five Pebbles not raise your karma
then make a point to not visit any vanilla echoes.
so, you have to beat the game using only modded stuff
ehhh nah I dont think ill bother with anything like that
thanks for the suggestion tho
you were serious
kalum is famously always serious, never silly
ok I finished streaming
today I:
- Explored a bit of some regions connected to farm arrays that lagged the hell out of my games and made me cry
- Explored Purgatory (outer outskirts) and ended up in a mossy region. Those two were nicer

does kalum play mods here
very rarely
maybe I'll play tomorrow
but I have to print out a Power of Attorney Authorization form and then take it to the public library to get it notarized and then send it in the mail and it'll be a whole thing
goin through some more regions tonight
ooooo which
hmmmm I think this room may be inspired by something
I think... this room... may be... inspired by something..?
What region is this
something with moss in the name
my best guess would be that that is a connection to the region I downloaded called Citadel
maybe some alternate version of shaded idk
Mossy Mosspits?
my guess would be mossy rifts but I really couldn't say for sure
Mossy Rifts would be my guess too yea
It’s not Moss Fields, the other moss region lol
is this not just literally a shaded room with all of the detail removed
Indeed that is
ok no it's a bit different
Well actually shaded citadel doesn’t have much detail to begin with
Thanks to it being dark
more than that, though
interesting
I don’t get the point of releasing a region unfinished
Happens even more with slugcats
I think the general philosophy would be that it's better to release something than nothing
Usually they end up just being slugbase json with no abilities and a high likelihood of exploding on death
And then never gets updated because the creator gave up trying to learn how to code
Or just forgot it existed
is it possible to make a den that has a set seed for the id of one stage of the lineage
Theoretically yes
I was thinking it would be cool to have a bunch of set ID creatures in a region but that it would be a bit odd if they stayed like that forever
so maybe you could have it set to where the custom ones are a 100% chance first stage of a lineage
I mean, if it's playable, and you aren't going to release the full version any time soon, you might as well.
Something about coding that I think a lot of people trying to learn it don’t realize is it’s completely normal for code to not work on the first try. Ask any experienced coder this and you’ll find they almost always agree. Code is an iterative process
My issue with it is a lot of them never end up being finished and the workshop stops promoting it after 2 weeks
I'll give em props, this region is absolutely massive in terms of the walking distance I've gone in it so far
although when I searched the name in chat history for the server one of the comments said the only connection was the one I came through, which is.. disconcerting
If your code works on the first try it's because you have five separate bugs that cancel each other out in all of your tests. It's the worst possible outcome.
Maybe but you’d have to end it at some point. When does it end
it would just end at a normal random thing
like, red lizard with set id is the first stage
red lizard without set id is the second and final
so it just gives you a set one for the first spawn and then random IDs after that
Me with my Escort mod that has yet to see version 1.0
But I did hit front page twice so that's something
and I just entered a subregion called Retaining Wall
I get the feeling this is just every room this person has made as one Region™ and that I may be here for a while
wait no, this is literally just OE 🧐
are you allowed to do that
I guess maybe if it requires downpour to play
I think it could be interesting to combine it with a separate idea I’ve had in the past, which is that every den is a lineage that ends in nothing
I think that idea has been proposed by everyone to have ever played saint
Extinction
would be cool for like
a region that's basically uninhabitable
Mossy Rifts already does require Downpour
I was imagining it as a Hunter-exclusive region
Dunno why it’d be Hunter-exclusive but the idea works well with carnivorous slugcats
Implying that the region's population isn't actually sustainable, and consists entirely of creatures that wandered in from elsewhere.
I don’t give a shit about Saint, it will not be able to access any of the regions I make (if I ever finish them
)
I would much prefer that
if you ascend a creature it gets replaced with empty
The Saint's campaign is the end of the iterators. The rest of the ecosystem will persist.
until someone invents the SOS region that functions as a time machine for saint
Shouldn’t be hard to mod into existence I think
Maybe lineages would be annoying
just set the respawn timer to 999999 lol
Or, rather, if you ascend a creature it gets added to a list in deathPersistentSaveData and stays dead between strands. For consistency with the iterator ascension mechanic.
alright I restarted the campaign to escape mossy rifts
lol
my mission is to go to the general area of sky islands because I think all of the cool regions are in that direction
like, maybe The Mast
and other generally colorful things
ooooo you haven't been to the Mast before?
If you’re gonna play the mast, I recommend its ||subterranean|| entrance
that or its badlands or undersea connections (they’re near each other in the mast)
bah!
would it really be rain world if I knew the right way to do something before going in
It’s not the “right way” per se but it is a good way in. Full experience. But any experience is fine
True, considering GS is one of those regions you can’t get to from vanilla lol
No, it only has mod region connections
There’s not actually many regions like that I think. Most of Sunlit Trail counts as that but that’s all the same creator. Also Hanging Gardens and Fog Gulch, and a secret one I won’t mention
is the secret one.... one of the preservatory regions? the end one perhaps?
No, though Preservatory would also be included in that list
I played through some segment of preservatory via parsec a whiiile back
before any of this stuff
(to the ending)
Ah so you are a knower
Unfortunate that I don’t get to see your reaction in real time
but oh well
There are other things like it which should prove as equal substitutes
(I always love seeing peoples’ reactions to the ending)

How does it feel to be on the other side of a first-playthrough channel for once
God if I ever finish GO, I’m going to be giddy as hell watching playtests
well here's what I can dig up from the convo afterwards
the real-time stuff was via the shitty parsec ingame chat though
I liked the camo kelp mechanic
it was fun
fake kelp is evil I love it
also can you drown in the preservatory liquid in that little area just before the ending room? I didn't want to die so I swam really optimally through them but I couldn't actually tell
I'm not sure, I did the same
No
Actually that’s mentioned in the credits as a code contribution from Bro748
(And I’m the one that made the credits
)
Bro748 holding up the entire modding community as usual
Fishnoid holding up playthroughs with peak ideas for regions
And NV did most of the rest of the code
LB made the lizards though!
Fishnoid is definitely someone to study in terms of gameplay though, he is especially good at introducing and utilizing gameplay mechanics, which is pretty evident in his Watcher regions
Klumquart too
hadn't thought of that but you're right
Badlands 2 is like
incredibly cool game design
I'm goin somewhere
feels mastcore but we'll see
ideally not an iterator region, I may cry if it is
ok yeah it's the mast, nice

I don’t actually know of any iterators people have placed that close to the base game except for one slugbase json slugcat mod which adds one to subterranean after like 3 rooms. Not even in another region
Seven Winding Tunnels too if we recall correctly
mod idea: mod that adds a bunch of hidden rooms built off of secret places in the regular regions
not its own region
amazing mod idea
would be horrible for the room connection lease
but amazing mod idea
Speaking of the lease
We haven’t put a bunch of stuff on the lease from polar circuit
Just started forgetting and not bothering
honestly if I made a region I would feel uneasy about its coexistance with the rest of the modded content
somehow I feel like I would have less control over the artistic vision
I might want it to just be a standalone thing (maybe even separate from the main map), although that would likely drive people away from even trying it in the first place
I mean, that works if you make multiple.
That's what Winter's End is.
But that obviously comes with a lot of extra headaches, custom code, y'know.
congraglelations
one of my favorite modded songs plays up there
expanse my beloved
yknow what would be a cool way to teach the locust mechanic
have the first room where you see them have you start out walking on a permeable platform
and then once the locusts get you, your stun makes you fall through the platform and into some mud or smth 😌
so you get to fear for your life a bit
I mean
you exit the rift above the locusts
so you know they're there before you have to deal with them
and then the area to the left of the tower has little bits of cover for you to use to test their aggressiveness
I'm not challenging the way badlands does it
I think the mud is self-explanatory? Once you fall in it, you know it does something, and it's not too hard to figure out what from there.
