Cycle 153
...
I can hardly believe it.
I have the cure.
I am the cure.
The Decay is fleeing me.
Everywhere I go, I see it slowly receding.
The Sunlit Port is becoming Sunlit once more.
I will purify it.
Cycle 154
Huh.
All of the Boundary Spawn in Sunlit Port, including the ... "threadbug" that I found this cycle, are now suddently heading for the rift to Aether Ridge. I wonder why.
Actually, wait, that's the only exit at the moment, not counting the Grey Void
Sunlit Port <-> Rusted Wrecks was sealed at some point, for some reason. Perhaps the Weaver did that to protect Rusted Wrecks?
Speaking of the Weaver, I saw a few bits of the Weaver's trail (webs and aurora interioris) earlier, but it didn't seem to lead anywhere.
Strange ... am I creating those now?
Cycle 155
I am no longer seeing any part of the trail. Perhaps the Weaver just left those bits on its way to its next destination... perhaps the Boundary Spawn are showing that its next destination is Aether Ridge?
... is it heading towards the Throne
...
Does the Weaver plan to fight the Throne?
What would happen if it showed up in its chamber?
This is going to be interesting, if so.
Perhaps, with enough ... sealing power, it could destroy the Decay at its source.
On that topic ... someone's gotta be able to read all these pearls.
Perhaps, if it's possible to purify the Throne's puppet, whatever's left behind will be more inclined to share its wisdom.
Also
I almost forgot about the Corruption Monstrosity in Five Pebbles.
Can it be purified
If so, could I use it to ascend
The problem with that is that I currently have no way of entering the Five Pebbles pocket. The rift from Cold Storage has been sealed...
Another idea: if I purify Outskirts, could I go home?
If I could get rid of the Decay in the "real world", could I return to it?
If that's possible, I could resolve the pearl issue by just visiting Looks to the Moon
Thinking about how the Weaver operates.
Last time I encountered it, it was in the room immediately adjacent to the sealed rift it had come from.
I also found it very early in the cycle, I think.
So perhaps it "hibernates" at rifts it has sealed, and then spends its cycles checking the rest of the pocket for rifts that need sealing?
Besides the rifts I have created, it has so far sealed Cold Storage -> Five Pebbles, The Fallen Tramway <-> Cold Storage, The Shattered Terrace <-> Fetid Glen, and Sunlit Port <-> Rusted Wrecks, usually without me present.
... perhaps it's trying to stop the spread of the Decay that way? All of those are either between corrupted pockets and non-corrupted ones, or connections to Cold Storage and Fetid Glen (which seem to be related to the Decay somehow, despite not being decayed pockets themselves).
Or am I reading too far into it
Some of the times I have caught it (especially the most recent one) it was in a rather awkward position when I found it, as if I had caught it travelling; other times (most notably in Signal Spires and Salination) it was in the sort of open room that could reasonably contain a rift, but didn't.
And, of course, the first time I saw it, it seemed to have just reached and sealed Fetid Glen <-> The Shattered Terrace.
However, I've never actually seen it move into a room. Perhaps it avoids doing that in the presence of mortals.
If so, the path it took in Salination would have trapped it; come to think of it, it was also in the room adjacent to the sealed rift which I again found fairly early in the cycle.
In that case, it took me a while to reach it regardless, due to the maze-like nature of that pocket. But since the area it went to was a dead end, it could not have moved further without re-entering the room I was in.
In any case, it seems evident to me that the Weaver is not omnipotent in its rift-sealing; it is bound by the flow of time, and travels at a defined speed.
It is also not above the cycle in the way mercy flowers are. I died trying to reach it in Salination, but that did not seem to give it any extra time to move.
ripple
what is a ripple
if not an echo in water?
...
oh no, I'm starting to sound like the Weaver
Cycle 158
Still trying to purify Sunlit Port. The Decay is annoyingly hard to fully eradicate... I'm not entirely sure if that's actually possible with my current abilities, but I have to try.
While I can purify the world, the infected lizards remain infected. I managed to kill one today... perhaps they're what's keeping the Decay alive here.
I noticed something else, though.
The Weaver has a sort of ... spiky halo?
And after my most recent encounter, I have acquired the same.
But it's not a constant - this cycle, I noticed it had disappeared. It seems to come and go over time, but I'm not yet sure why.
Perhaps it's only visible in the presence of the Decay? The times I saw it this cycle were the times I was fighting infected lizards, but even then it doesn't seem to appear consistently.
Cycle 160
...
Did I just...
... wow.
... relatedly, I did my best to purify Sunlit Port. The Constellation still doesn't show it as pure, but I'm pretty sure I've both cleansed every room and killed every infected lizard.
... not that it matters. Sunlit Port is now entirely inaccessible.
Not counting the Distortion Spell, I suppose.
Also, yes, the halo only shows up in impure areas.
...
Forget the Weaver. I'm gonna go pay the Throne a visit
A path. A purpose. A symbol I do not recognize.
Cycle 161
I suppose I should be careful visiting the Throne. If I seal the rift to enter, how would I be able to leave without infecting something new?
From what I've heard it doesn't change even if you do
it does not
So... if I go there through the rift in Aether Ridge, and it seals behind me again, I'd be in trouble.
So I'm going to wrong-warp, and enter the Throne through the bottom, just to make sure I can use that rift to leave.
... Cold Storage? Wha-
That's... not an infected pocket. Technically.
Actually... I also didn't infect it when I got there, even though the room I made the cast the Distortion Spell in was definitely infected.
Can the Decay no longer follow me? I sure hope so.
Huh... Cold Storage, every time.
I can't reach Five Pebbles from there anyways - the rift is already sealed.
So I suppose I have to go through the rift to the Throne here.
Of course, if I didn't infect Cold Storage in my last few attempts, perhaps it will be safe to leave the Throne some other way.
Huh ... I couldn't do anything to the Throne, but leaving it didn't open a permanent rift or infect the destination pocket.
I guess I'll go to Cold Storage, then? Might as well - I probably need to use the Distortion Spell some more if I want to see the Weaver again.
Mindless swimmers and floaters...
The last symbol.
Huh...
Why that one?
I got an achievement for being eaten by the Boundary Spawn.
Cycle 162
I tamed a cyan lizard in Cold Storage.
The writer of the Journal found a companion there, too. I shall name this one Twenty Strings Between Endless Sands, in honor of them.
Cycle 163
I tried wrong warping again, and ended up on the Migration Path. Are the infected pockets just inaccessible now?
hmmm...
Cycle 167
I had to leave Twenty Strings Between Endless Sands behind in the Migration Path
The other end of it connects to Aether Ridge, though.
... my last meeting with the Child Echo is in the Crypt in Torrid Desert. This seems like a good time to go there.
Cycle 171
The Child Echo called me a
and I quote
"little god sausage"
I suppose that's accurate?
... given ... whatever the Weaver is doing.
Cycle 173
I found a pearl in the Outer Rim!
That one's gotta be important...
I went back to the Grey Void, too, to that one pedestal.
a child lost to time
on the left side
a lantern in the dusk
... in the middle.
on the right...
... voices.
It actually sounds like the Throne, come to think of it...
So perhaps the left side represents the Child Echo, the middle represents the Weaver, and the right side represents the Throne.
Hmmm...
Perhaps I should come back there after the Child Echo ascends.
Which will probably happen soon, given it's now disappeared from the rest of this little multiverse anyways.
Cycle 174
... It seems the Weaver did not take kindly to my last meeting with the Child Echo. Torrid Desert has been sealed off completely in all directions.
Also, the Distortion Spell no longer creates permanent rifts - in that case, its behaviour is now identical regardless of whether I have a mercy flower.
And given I'm now locked at the highest karma level, mercy flowers are once again useless to me
Cycle 176
Pictures of the Past
It's time to go to the Old City.
I was wondering if perhaps someone or something there could read pearls...?
Cycle 177
There are two pearls in the Old City.
I'm curious to know what's on them...
Also... since the Distortion Spell no longer creates permanent rifts, I don't think I can see the Weaver again.
... Do I need to at this point?
Well...
I may be not be familiar with the workings of the Old City.
My journey so far has had as little to do with the builders as is really possible in this world. Or... worlds.
But...
Please.
Be what I think you are.
Images and sounds...
Yes.
It is not what I expected it to be. But it is what I seek.
I knew there would be something here...
... I have no idea how to interpret this image.
This is... the mantra, I think. From the "real world".
I have been keeping it in my stomach this entire journey.
...
I am aware of its existence, but I don't recall what exactly the mantra is, other than its relationship to the Cycle.
So I suppose this is ... the best visual representation of ... whatever the mantra entails.
... so begins the Great Gathering.
... it's an old conversation log.
... I assumed those would be the most useful type of relic, but ...
It's just audio, and I still don't have the Mark.
Judging by the colors ... Five Pebbles and No Significant Harassment? This pearl was from around here, so does that mean they're nearby in this pocket?
Perhaps the Old City is one of theirs.
... Okay. That, I assume, is Looks to the Moon.
These two combined make me think I'm in either Five Pebbles' city, or Looks to the Moon's.

Well, I'm out of pearls, so it's time to say goodbye to the Child Echo, I suppose.
What are you wearing, little creature?
Maybe it's some kind of ID tag?

Farewell, old friend.
I wonder if I'll ever be able to join them.
For now, though ... I would not choose to.
I have a purpose ... I think. And pearls to collect.
Really? No pearls or unlocks in here? My disappointment is immeasureable and my day is ruined
Spinning Top.
Then... that truly is their name.
The ... second symbol? Third? I don't remember.
... come to think of it, "images and sounds" is a symbol I do not recognize.
Well, then...
That projector...
Is annoyingly hard to reach, if I'm going to be bringing all the pearls in the multiverse here
At least it's close (whatever that means) to the Grey Void... but I can't bring more than one pearl through there at a time, anyways.
... another mission.
I have a small tip that could help relieve some back and forth at least a little
If you want it
Maybe after I finish whatever the Weaver's quest is.

So, there's still one pocket I know exists but have yet to explore.
That being, Five Pebbles.
Because, well, the Weaver was understandably pretty aggressive in sealing it off.
But, now that the Distortion Spell is (as far as I can tell) free to use, I'm going to see if I can tunnel my way in.
Huh... I'm fairly confident there was not a mercy flower here before.
... Did the Child Echo leave this behind? Someone else?
... Spinning Top, right.
If it was Spinning Top, why here and not in their room?
Note to self: there's a pearl on one of the hanging platforms in Verdant Waterways.
Hey, I've reached three pearls already. Turns out rapid-casting the Distortion Spell is a good way to recollect all the ones I've stashed.
... wait, the rift to the Old City is in Boundary Space, too
sooooooooo I have to bring them one at a time?
... I'm gonna need to make Rift Scanner sometime soon, huh
I'm also sealing every portal I go through ... soon, Boundary Space and the Distortion Spell will be the only available means of travel.
The Sea Platform in Rusted Wrecks is such a maze
I sorta wonder if I should be sealing the rifts ... is that my purpose?
So the Grey Void has changed, slightly...
The pedestal.
Rather than a message, there is simply laughter on the far left.
Spinning Top's laughter.
So that side has reached its final state?
Given I can hear voices on the right side, perhaps that side is done as well.
... for some reason.
So, then, the middle...
Also, add something to QoD to purify shelters upon use. It makes sense.
... that's not really a QoD tweak, but whatever.
If the label still pops up, you are not done
. . .
Cycle 211
. . .
I've been busy.
I think ... that's ... all of them?
. . .
What happens now?
. . .
I think the Distortion Spell was working in my favor - it never once led me to a pocket that had already been fully sealed.
. . .
Can I enter Five Pebbles now? Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase
Well, next cycle, I'll cast the Distortion Spell and see what happens, I suppose.

...
An understanding.
I guess ... I did it?
Have we ... repaired the "real world"? Is that what we were doing?
. . . Why am I in the Grey Void?
... That's a stupid question.
👀

Um.
two
So.
Is it just me or is this a bug? Ticker's been running for the past minute and the screen isn't changing.
... is it safe to close the game
index out of bounds or whatever
Mine was fixed by just turning on MSC

Watcher DLC was too big lol
congrats on killing four zoops 🎉
With just vanilla it starts counting at strawberries and crashes like that
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Mark
I did not miss that
Something tells me I should go to the Old City? ... Or the Throne?
Probably the Old City.
Wanna know a fun fact about the score screen shown artwork

Before a patch, the artwork that was shown changed based on completely arbitrary conditions
Without MSC and with a completed Hunter save, it was the ascension ghost art
Without MSC and with a dead Hunter save, it was permadeath
With MSC, it was the sleep screen

And for the pearl transport, ||they added a feature that should allow items (and creatures) to travel through max ripple rifts if they were in proximity to be grabbed by it||
They should
The last time I tried was before a patch fixed it cuz it was previously broken but it should work fine now lol

So this is still possible then?
I was a little disappointed earlier to realize that since the Grey Void <-> Outer Rim rift is now open by default, there's nowhere to put a rift there to transport creatures
It should be now
At least, intended this time
So it should speed up the pearl transport to be less one at a time with stomach storage
i should fill daemon with a bunch of random creatures
Pizza's gonna be ecstatic to bring the squidcada into Daemon for mapping purposes
don’t do this by the way the lizard gets deleted from existence after the cutscene
🥹
played with toys so hard they ascended
How do I um
get the pearls
I suppose the behaviour of the Distortion Spell changes again after the ending?
There is a way to make it less random if youd like a tip of where to look around
Oh, but only key items.
I see.
... (That seems arbitrary and weird, why not just make it work on everything? It's your canon...)
I did notice individual rooms seem to have their own attunement points, there was one cycle where I took a path through three different pockets like 5 times in a row, by casting the Distortion Spell in the same rooms each time.
I guess that works but its not 100% consistent
I meant a way to make it more manual instead of random rifting around

"hey I made a song"
"I don't think we can fit it anywhere in the game at this point, all the pockets' soundtracks are complete"
"wait I have an idea"
I mean, parallel processing doesn't seem ... wait
wait that's awesome
Are they trying to imply that Five Pebbles' rewriting trick was a known bug?
amazing
No translation? Really? OK.
Now for the Outskirts one.
Really, you're not going to just read the mantra? Awwwww...
... Now I wonder what the Chimney Canopy pearl would have said ...
Well... is that it? Is there anything else in the update, other than pearls?
Uhhhh
Some pearls have some neat stuff in them
Theres 1 more (optional) ability that can be found
wdym update
the optional ability is pretty interesting!
Things I have not done on this save file:
- gone to Five Pebbles (the entrance was sealed before I could try it)
- figured out what that spiral monolith in the Outer Rim is for
- completed the Throne's quest (pretty sure that's impossible now)
I started this playthrough when Watcher 1.5 released
... wait, you joined after that and you're a hunter? Wow I'm slow
i am this person
oohh
okay i just misinterpreted the message 🥹 that’s why i was confused
oh OK
So, it's related to the Boundary Spawn here in the Outer Rim.
It seems each one I free here fills the spiral... and unlike the ones in the other pockets, they never come back.
One more...
Ah.
The last one was a threadbug. Quite a nice journey, really...
And I see this power has limits.
... which is a shame, because I left some pearls back in Outer Rim to pursue that

50, wow
I suppose they're quite common.
This is also my way of getting into Five Pebbles, I think.
A second threadbug in the Badlands led me to... a sealed rift. Not so useful...
The Boundary Spawn don't seem to be reappear once freed.
Not yet, at least.
This new trick may not be sustainable.
Anyways, I'm in the Old City with three more pearls. One is from the Outer Rim
This one is ...
from Fetid Glen?
I don't remember.
It's... blueprints for a citizen ID drone.
I suppose that confirms the existence of those things in this strand.
... or whatever stand it came from, I suppose.
next... of course.
What treasure could the Stormy Coast hold...
other than good music?
Now. For the one from the Outer Rim.
... huh.
As with most things found in the Outer Rim, I'm ... not sure what that is.
But it sure looks cool.
It is green. Is it a star?
The machine is ... drilling into it?
Drilling into a star?
There are clouds nearby. Clouds and stars are typically found at different altitudes.
Well, I don't want to gather all the pearls. That seems tiring.
But I want to go pay a visit to Five Pebbles, now that I (hopefully) can.
... the new trick was [DOWN]+[SPECIAL] right?
The opposite of the Distortion Spell?
Do I need to find more Boundary Spawn? I thought I had...
Maybe only the ones in this pocket matter.
Desolate Tract is pretty.
When it's not corrupted.
The lizard is a friend I made here.
... I shall name thee Woven Paths, Fifty Points.
Now...
Now that I have freed most of them, Boundary Spawn have started to wander the halls of Desolate Tract. They seem to all be going somewhere, but I can't figure out where exactly - sometimes they go up, sometimes they go down.
I can't find the last Boundary Spawn :(
I'm going to try another pocket, I think...
Oh, that worked perfectly.
So either the source pocket doesn't matter, or that also happened to be the last Boundary Spawn in the Shattered Terrace.
Either way, time to go to Five Pebbles
...
I can't.
I was able to cast the ... "Target Spell" again, but I still can't go to Five Pebbles with it.
... or the Outer Rim, or the Grey Void, or the Old City.
... why
So... can I just not go to Five Pebbles anymore?
...
@void socket yes/no
Is it possible to reach Five Pebbles at this point? The entrance is sealed, of course, and the Target Spell just won't let me.
I dont believe so
iirc it gets sealed automatically after meeting Weaver enough times
OK, then I don't need to anyways
That pretty much concludes my Watcher blind playthrough, then.

Watcher 1.5 was cool. Definitely feels more ending-y than the previous two endings.
And it's kinda funny how vague the pearls are.
My main gripe with it is that it still feels a lot more "game-y" than regular Rain World. But it's quite cool nonetheless.
I also sorta hoped I'd be able to learn more about the Throne? But I suppose that's what the pearls are for.
Watcher does do a lot of showing and not telling
so I have seen
It is fun to theorize, but I wish there was slightly more material to theorize on?
... though, I haven't scanned all the pearls, so perhaps there is.
Theres a pretty good pinned message in watcher-lore that I think does a good job on the main characters' lores
And I assume the one achievement I'm missing is for the Corruption ending?
