i think crafting is pretty bad in execution, many recipes don't make any sense. and i find it very redundant, gourmand's weight, stamina and increased spear damage are already very interesting mechanics that fundamentally change how you play as it

I think they did their best with crafting recipes given that they had to fit practically every handheld item into a cohesive X and Y combinations grid without stuff repeating the same ingredients 
I can prolly find more use out of crafting or item regurgitation in future runs now that l have more food to access (became much better at slaughtering lizors)
