ive had this funny thing happen when playing my scug char. where i was like the most powerful on our team and dealt the most danage when we were fighting some pastries (dont question it) but since like half of our team was dead or half-dead we decided to retreat and return in another session with reinforcements.
when we returned i hid somewhere to not be spotted and at some point i just decided to try to intimidate them with a 'wa' (i rolled the check and got like a 21?) the reaction of the pastries was: "OH GOD YOU BROUGHT THE CAT."

When the game partially deloads the room. It's too resource intensive to simulate all rooms in a region, so only the ones close to you are loaded. But creatures still need to be simulated even when abstracted, but they kinda ignore geometry then. (simplified explanation)
