the only real evidence we have is that carol sounds different at the end of chapter 4 in the weird route for some reason (they use a normal text box over the phone)

okay yay i compiled a bunch of stuff for this so i can have Proper Points 🎉

• the prophecies are almost certainly all related to the dark world. the only one that maybe isn’t is “jockington grows the beard”, but like. it would probably be a dark world thing given the entire rest of the prophecy has something related to the dark world if not just straight up occurring there
• “roots” image is a house (or a shelter) between two trees. where else do you see a shelter between two trees that has a dark world?
• “roots” by itself is very very vague but. given the assumption it’s dark world related it doesn’t have a much more obvious interpretation than being the roots of the dark world
• we know kris has a save file before the game starts (and that light world saves were only added for gameplay convenience at the request of playtesters) and we know they’ve been to the shelter before chapter 3, and they also back up when they see the closet door open for the first time. so that shelter world has been there for a while, at least compared to every other fountain
• also i feel like if the grand fountain was opened a while ago someone would have Noticed ? because alphys sends you to go get chalk. so clearly people are unaware of what’s actually going on there.

reason being is friend is almost certainly related to cat petterz (especially with how it Literally Appears in battat, which we know is a cat petterz game) and cat petterz is supposedly noted for its animation including cats made of circles, and the tail sprite is a whole bunch of circles

Egg man in chapter 1 is described as a "figure of a man"
In undertale this line is used to describe one of the amalgamations when the fog is up
Gaster made the true lab

actually it would be cool if, in the future chapters, a darkner would absorb a human or monster soul and become "real" . kinda like with hero_sword (which had our soul), but a darkner getting to the light world, what spamton wanted

i don’t think their form is tied to a specific fountain, they have the same form in the castle town (a different fountain).

i think if the darkner leaves the dark would, they probably retain the form with the power of the soul (probably the same if the fountain is sealed). it would be funny if they were sentient items... but they kinda already are? they remember what happened to them in the light world

I dunno, I feel like it wouldnt really make sense for a soul to keep them in their "unreal" form, so to speak

like, their darkner forms are inherently tied to the idea of things being blurry and indistinct, so you'd have to go a very specific way to make that work

if spamton wanted the soul, there probably a reason to believe it would work. assuming mini kris used the soul, they do retain "unreal" form from the game, it wasn’t even a magically created world, it’s a game

...so it probably would make a darkner keep the form . for how long is a question though, or if they would be sensitive to light, just having high enough determination resistance to keep the form in dim rooms or at night.

(you can tie it with "the knight is a darkner with a soul" theory, explaining why the knight doing everything at night or during the rain /j)

the knight is an almagamation of different monsters, fused in the bunker by someone
one of which is dess and is why they have antlers
but they can also transform into different stuff,, like a BIRD!! and berdlys parents are absent which means one or both of berdlys parents were fused into what the roaring knight is now!!
