I have completed the Survivor, my first campaign, not long ago and it was extremely fun. It truly felt like the game wasn't a problem, I just needed to get better, and that's what made it fun. However when I started Artificer and Gourmand, it just feels like all my skills don't matter since the game is now the issue, and no matter what I do, using every technique I know, I just can't make it far past the starting points/areas.
#Spearmaster, master of spears || Completed Survivor, Artificer, Gourmand, & Rivulet

With Artificer, there are multiple scavengers. Each one with spear-aimbot installed which kill you with one throw. And the slugcat with explosive abilities gets knocked down by an explosive rock that they themself, have created.
With Gourmand, I feel much limited by my movement, which on Survivor, allowed me to maximise the potential of my skills (evading, fighting, traversal). This allows enemies to get me much easier.
both of these scugs give you a lot of special movement capabilities or other things in general that should aid in your gameplay
If it helps, try not to compare them with survivor/monk as they offer completely different experiences due to their nature
biggest tip for gourmand I can give is whenever your eyes close stand still until they open again, you will recover from exhaustion a lot quicker that way
Artificer is a lot of trial and error. It may feel like you’re getting no where but keep pushing through and you will make it!! You can also always try taking a different route if one is too difficult
Well, Gourmand is going better for me at the moment and that tip you gave now makes it feel a little more like I can move normally now. Thanks.
As for this, I have been stuck for hours and have made no progress. It's geniunely pissing me off.
I'm decent and using the movement mechanic for Arti, but when it comes to scavengers, WHY do they have aimbot...
Did you try exploring to the right?
Which campaign?
arti
Yes
Shaded Citadel
my least favourite area
made my way to a gate and couldn't cross it
so I just reset my game back to the start
you dont need to reset for that
the gate is able to be crossed, you may need to think outside the box
I know how, I need scavenger corpses
But it's not worth going to "shoreline"
because there isn't a shoreline anymore
from what i've heard from a friend
you should tell your friend not to spoil you on the regions
none of them arent worth going to
I don't mind, Artificer is too fustrating to explore everywhere with
Gourmand on the other hand, I'm making progress
glad to see you're getting somewhere in gourmand at least
artificer's abilities may come in handy when it comes to dealing with those scavengers though
but it definitely isn't an easy campaign
Even using the movement ability, they are able to hit me accurately
Managed to make it to another shelter as Artificer
Since I'm past the scavenger toll, I don't have to worry about dying to them over and over.
The main problem is finding scavs to eat
Or anything that doesn't fill only a quarter of one hunger
There's a metric ton of animals in garbagewastes to eat from
Shaded has several other connections other than shoreline
And no, shoreline is not worthless to explore in any form either; no region is. Avoid intaking spoilers from friends, and travel to places based on your own exploratory compass
I would recommend you explore it
Making my way back
so I can go to citadel
because I completely forgot that's how I get to Five Pebbles, which could be useful
Had to log off
But I'm stuck at the scav toll area again
The starting one
Except this time it's left to right that I need to go
(Artificer)
As for Gourmand, I am at the Sky Islands gate
I did explore there for quite a while
But I ran out of karma
And now I can't pass the gate
And returning, I don't see any food or any easy way back
you can explore elsewhere in whichever region you are in and come back later
do you want a combat tip?
Sure
artificer has another tutorial that never gets triggered on most people's playthroughs
||Explosive jump while holding down to parry||
Wdym parry?
try seeing what it does in your artificer playthrough
I'm making more progress in Gourmand than Artificer
in fact, I have made 0 progress in Artificer
and Gourmand is actually quite fun
I found a few bats and fruit, enough to sleep and gain karma
I got enough practice and next time I should be able to make it to the next shelter
and after that, I'm gonna make my way to the Farm Arrays gate
nice gourm plans
I'm genuinely tweaking rn
Artificer
10 hours
And I'm still at the fucking start
Finally

the starting area on arti might be the most brutal part of the campaign if that gives you any motivation!!
good job
Jarvis, remind me to never go left at the start of any Artificer replays
Noted
I remember for my first Arti playthrough I didn't even think of going right
Maybe you need friend slugcat to play with :<
How do I do that?
How to get a friend or how to play with friends?
both lmao
hmm. well how to get a friend im not sure myself.. maybe i might be able to play at some point
but how to play with friends i do!
in the main menu of Rainworld theres Remix and if you go there you can enable jolly coop. and then before you start a campaign you will be able to see the jolly coop button at the top right. to where you can change your colors and the difficulty. and setup the controllers
Jolly coop only works as local multiplayer (you need a real friend in-person to hook up controller to the same device)
But you can use Steam Remote Share to be able to play with online friends
Or mods
I wouldn’t really recommend playing multiplayer until after you complete the given campaign on your own
Alright so I had a bit of a break
With Gourmand, I haven't made any progress (not because i'm stuck but because I haven't played him within these days)
With Artificer, I managed to make my way to the shelter in the exterior before the bottom gate of Five Pebbles
I can't enter the bottom gate...
as artificer
because there are no scavs for the gate
Well, I'm making my way up
and around
Made it
Tomorrow I'll go meet Five Pebbles
Also I got so lucky
First attempt trying to get to the gate, I got killed by a scav
Second attempt, there was literally no scavs at all
that is very lucky, especially in such an open space
congrats on making it to five pebbles though!!
In Metropolis
Any tips for this area?
Uhhhh
Well that was weird
I'm at a place called the "12th Council Pillar - House of Braids"
That was easy
This goes hard
Artificer and Gourmand are actually not that bad, need help || Completed Survivor
Still have Gourmand to complete
Thank you :3
CONG🐀S ON FINISHING ARTI!!
easy
meanwhile i struggled
What why
Its what i did the first time and that was the most fun ever
it makes the game easier when there are two of you, but if you are both going in blind then it is better
like if i played with my friends i already know how the game works and such so it wouldnt be as authentic of an experience for them
YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY
WHY DID YOU TURN AROUND
OH MY FUCKING GOD
I'M GONNA FUCKING DIE
I HATE THESE FUCKING DEER
and now I'm stuck before the karma gate without enough karma
great
Found a shelter in Farm Arrays
now I no longer have to worry about the karma gate
Finally
Made it to Subterranean gate
and I'm at the Subterranean shelter
Hunter (scratch that, I'm doing hunter last), Rivulet or Spearmaster?

hunter
Nah, I'm doing that last
damn
hunter!
spearmaster :)
Hunter
I literally said, I'm doing him last
Hunter tomorrow

Rivular
I guess I'm doing Rivulet next, since two votes for Riv, and one for spearmaster
spearm
spear
Awww
there isnt necessarily a right or wrong way as long as youre exploring
and riv is so zoomies anyway
@frigid flicker I'd... prolly avoid using the name of stuff in game
oh sry
It's fine, most people don't figure out the name of that place unless they're spoiled so
oh lol
Hunter bro
Progress
At Shoreline
teluvir
What
rivulet
Rivulet is a silly goober || Completed Survivor, Artificer and Gourmand
At a place called "Looks to the Moon"
Yo wassup
Gave friend a rock
Awwww
I gave her green pearl that I had and she told me to go to Five Pebbles

rivulet

nine sols pfp

nooo pebsi nooo
did you remove the cell yet
Yea
I'm also past the memory crypts (on my way back)
Made my way back to Shoreline gate (from Shaded Citadel)
I was dreading going back through Shaded Citadel, but I got through without dying and pretty quickly
Found the heart and put the core in
Made my way back to Moon
Found out she was Five Pebble's big sister
well, kind of
Finished Rivulet campaign
Thank you <3
Well now I only have Spearmaster, Saint, Monk, and Hunter to finish
I dunno in which order though
(but I do need to do Spearmaster to unlock saint, so can't do saint yet)
Well, I guess I'm going Spearmaster
Spearmaster, master of spears || Completed Survivor, Artificer, Gourmand, & Rivulet
Spear guy!!!
joins thread
(spear) master chief halo
"we need to give the scavs back their bomb"
We need to add master chief to rain world
spearmaste
Master Chief, mind telling me what you're doing?
I beat halo ce, 3, ODST, 4 and reach on legendary and halo 2 on heroic
Because halo 2 legendary experience is.... Yes
Aight I'm a bit lost
In Industrial Complex
Where do I need to go?
somewhere else
Well with every slugcat so far, I always made my way to five pebbles, so I went to garbage waste, to shoreline, to shaded citadel, to the exterior, to pebsi
Survivor, he told me to ascend
Artificer, he told me to kill scavenger chief
Gourmand, he told me to fuck off and tell my friends in the west to fuck off too
Rivulet, he told me to help Moon
If I don't know where to go, I'll probably play some other game in the meantime (like Deltarune since it released)
Five pebbles did tell you where to go in every campaign
So I should head there again?
U should ask the magic 8 ball

when in doubt it doesnt hurt to check any key points of interest, but you are free to explore the world however you wish
each campaign brings interesting changes to the environment so it may be worth just figuring them out
Ribs
..
rivulet -> riv -> rib -> ribs

Give me your ribs
pork ribs goes good with ruffles chips
Kinda paused my spearmaster playthrough to play Deltarune, since it came out a week ago (just finished Chaper 3)
hope you enjoy it
goodluck with school!!
Okay so school isn't much of a problem anymore
but I did start a game that I promised a friend i would try after a couple months
I'll just continue when I feel like it

all good, take your time
Okay so
Where do I go
I'm trying to go to the like
green water area
but the small thingy (I forgot the name) is telling me to go back to visit an iterator
or smth
what campaign are you playing?
either way you don't have to follow that thingy if you don't want to
feel free to explore and come back to that later if you'd like
In the title "Spearmaster, master of spears"
Which way do I need to go tho?
try visiting points of interest from your previous playthroughs
Like where, I kinda forgot a bit
(I was playing other games, so I need a refresher)
any direction not filled out on your map would be a good place to start
If you want hard combat, pick the artificer, it's very hard tho. If you want exploration pick rivulet.
Artificer isn't really the most difficult, and difficulty is subjective
OP has already finished both...?
That too
I've completed artificer, check the title
Which direction
It's just Rainworld is a game where exploration is hard, so if I'm heading the wrong direction it'll take me a lot more time and effort to actually progress. And since I have work to deal with, I have a lot less time to play games.
You can follow the directions your red friend shows
This one
(but he's red)
So which way then, because I'm being told to go right here, but by the red friend I'm being told to head left
Ig right is the better option
Or the pins
Aight
I'm lost
This area is not how it was before
I have no clue how to make it to shoreline
Use your ingame map to see the area and where you haven’t been
Chart it out
I would do that if it was a metroidvania
but I'm actively being punished for going the wrong way
so I just want to go where I need to
There’s no punishment really, you just wake up and do it again
Then when you find your way out you can just eat and use the same shelter to get the requirement
no need to rush
and there is no wrong way in rain world!!
The punishment is my free time is being wasted by having to backtrack
Can people just help me instead of waste my time?
I don't want to spend the whole summer holiday trying to find where to go
And then go back to school feeling shit because I didn't do much
Everyone has different ways of enjoying games
I'm just asking for help with enjoying it my way
Rainworld is about the journey and learning the world, most people who are helping in these threads agree to that and that’s why we tend to give answers that let you explore on your own
Shoreline is always in the same spot, the right side so head that way
Where are you rn and where do you need to go?
I'll give you a direction
GW and idk where I need to go
I'm assuming Five Pebbles since that's where I had to go on other runs
If you've played other runs before why do you need guidance?
You should have some quantity of memory of where important landmarks are
Take the paths you're familiar with and you'll reach the places you need to
Tbf, GW (past) is very different
VERY
Because not every run is the same?
Like
Come on
Things are still in the same place
A couple regions are added or are changed
Past gw being a good example in all fairness
But yeah you are free to just leave if you're in a rush. Any gate. Return to a region that's recognizable and beeline to pebbles or moon (or wherever you think you need to go)
All of this aside it should be remembered that the main meat of playing the rainworld experience is the exploring and wandering around. Not the hitting of progression milestones like a checklist. I can understand wanting to get through things quickly in the limited time you have, but it's still worth noting that the blind bumbling around isn't a time waste either. That's what playing rainworld is
