The guides I've been finding on the Steam page (map directions and movement controls mainly) have been helpful in deciding to plan my next route, however I can't help but wonder what might be outdated information 😅

I would say that I advise against do this too much

Exploration is a pretty sizable chunk of the game, and getting lost is very much the intended experience

It's ok if you don't want to do that, but we do like to emphasize that point to new players

I have decided that if it is not required in order for unlocking the storyline I do NOT want to go through Memory Crypts :))))

12/15/2024 December, it begins!

12/18/2024, I get stuck in this room in particular for a few cycles, as I struggle and learn how to grip onto the poles from vertical to horizontal jumps. I’m sure this thought is universal, the “I don’t think my input controls are listening to me, why is this so hard?” Also found the mushrooms and was concerned I broke the game by lag

12/19/2024, I have no idea which of the enabled mods (bc I assume the vanilla game is not nice enough to be the ones providing this ) gave me this useful tip, but it has easily been the most helpful organizing my hands and not giving away my position (as frequently. I still misfire a lot of spears ). I also THANK THE GODS for this lizard wandering into the clutches of the dangerous fern ladder instead of me, after cycles of being pulled under. I seriously couldn’t figure out how was I going to make the jump over its reach, so when I saw the opportunity I took it scrambling trembling heartbeat

I didn't take any photos I guess through my journey into ||Drainage System,|| my second zone? So it must have been pretty smooth sailing past the initial getting myself into a den on the new side for a savepoint. I died the first entry in, and learned quickly from there that there was the karma gate system.

1/12/2025 January, the game might have been quiet but this was the first creature I was screaming at being on my screen. Confused and scared at just what was this thing? I ended up having to backtrack as the lower route uh I found would be impossible.

1/17/2025 LttM zone is pwretty [jumping to this ledge tho gave up unfortunately] & made it to ||Shaded Citadel||, my zone 5. In the sense of I found it and then drowned to the storm trying to make it back to a shelter since it was very late in the cycle

1/28/2025 Shaded Adventures. I don’t mind the dark typically, however being able to see practically nothing this whole zone was aggravating while ofc jump scared screaming.
#1- Can’t be afraid of what I can’t see ragdolling slugcat
#2- (sound warning— but loud ears ringing pitch) Besides the death RIGHT BEFORE (marked on my map) one of my quickest deaths. Still not sure what specifically killed me in this crowd.

#3 welcomed guests and #4 unwelcomed guests. My introduction to den mates that could stay of higher intelligence. Before I took a squid fly thing with me.

4/18/2025 April (took a break), terrified. I don’t know what I did but pink slithered right in as the den’s doors were sealing, what was I supposed to do—

5/4-26th/2025 May between finishing Finals for classes.
We start with “so my plan is to go upward and go to ||Chimney Canopy|| instead of ||Outskirts||! a lizard falls from the sky NEVERMIND AAHHH!!!” This technically took a few cycles to finally safely make it to a den but ultimately that scare made up my mind to go west anyways.

-oh a ditch better not fall … oh I’ve found what’s at the bottom of the ditch a cycle or so later because a lizard scared me, this sucks wah
-found the gate are you kidding me got there at the very end of the cycle with just under the karma gate requirement so died there and watched the pearls bounce across the room, at least I know where my final destination is.
-didn’t know these guys were here!
-Scavenger, wait I thought I was helping fight the lizards, maybe this is a fluke

-Not a fluke
-Not a fluke 2x, I’ve now realized this is a proper scavenger gate
-I knew the orange little bugs were edible, and uh the blue version of it with the long antennas eyes just went popping when I found a quiet opportunity to take a stab :o
Killed one of the flying squids in the process of the orange kill and feel bad, not sure if it’s that or something else entirely unrelated to this increasing my “The Hunter” meter at the hibernation screen. (Nobody needs to answer that, just out loud thinking)

Random bits between cycles
-Now that was quite the leap 🦎
-Was just kind of stunned to watch it happen, like I crawled back down to check if the bug was okay 🐛🐞
-Guys.. I just.. just want to put in my order… can y’all move? Things like this make me question if it really is the end of the week or the beginning ya know? Watching a brawl.

-I need to stop messing around with explosives 💣…. Or get better with using them yeah (⚠️ obvious volume warning is the explosion)
-New Objective, I should get that pearl that’s on the ledge of the ditch so maybe I have a better chance of passing through the checkpoint, also peacefully ARE YOU KIDDING ME *it was lizard after lizard falling into the ditch and in my panic I threw the pearl and had to wait until like two lizards were sucked under(? I’m not sure where two of them deleted themselves) and the last one to be injured enough to maneuver past. Anyways yes made it back safely (after 3 attempts due to being given very short rain cycles and lots of falling)
-As I mentioned with the many short given cycles I spent one of them trying to see if I could get back to the starting area where I hadn’t finished mapping it out and just ah completionism compulsion. A cycle or so before I got a squid dude said “you’re my friend now” and fr! that squid waited with me for awhile once it wasn’t working out jumping with him to make it to the higher passage. I was impressed and he only left as soon as the tunnels started shaking and uh yeah did not get to path out that unexplored area the rain drowns way quickly than I expected. I also had karma flower (two buffers? I’m not sure if I was seeing that right, I’ll check next time I play Rainworld again) at highest karma level so I was fine wasting a cycle on trying to fulfill my curiosity once more.

don't get discouraged if no one replies in your thread
we're glad to see when players explore and discover things on their own and we will say something and try helping you when it's needed

Thank you for the kind words! :D I assume folks are reading in here and there and if I see at least an emote reaction I know people are getting a kick out of seeing my little adventures. The editing which clips and screenshots I’m going to use to share my process is fun for me so I’m happy keeping this updated simply for even my sake 😊

(It helps me with phone storage space if it’s also put in a public sever too, can delete as I go my photo problem isn’t that bad …probably has at least 8,000 on my phone that I have got to get offloaded again…. It’s travel photos so I’m going to say I have a valid excuse, lol, maybe, whoops)
