I assume the battle is a reference to the scavs and how I am relentlessly killing those that get in my way. I assume it gets to the point or something related where I might reach an ending of sorts? A path of no return.
Might not be an ending at all, just endless murder in hope of satisfaction. I do wonder though, if I do continue on this path of slaughter will I be able to ascend if I eventually decide to? Like ik it's possible now but i don't want to have to do a whole new run to get a new ending.
I hope the way the echo mentions it is more metaphorical than actually a game mechanic

||Doing one ending locks you out of the other, but only after doing the relevant thing, so you can back out before then||

What that means is ||you can find the milestone in Metropolis but not do the thing, and you can still leave and try ascension. It's the point afterwards that locks you in|| (still vague on events, of course )
