the strings tell you where to go

but they don't appear, nor the weaver, until you see the crack that cycle

I think? they can sometimes replace regular portals, but I haven't seen any actual confirmation of that

the primary way is your own dynamic portals decaying

after 5 or so cycles they turn to yellow ones
