Not directly, I ate the robots brain thing and started glowing my partner suggested that I went back to the dark place I was fumbling around in earlier, then stumbled across this
(I kept going in the same direction after my screen got a little wavey)
I'm genuinely assuming this is the ascension area?

you should look around new areas if one way is not working
