so as hunter your feature is to have a backspear but you can't put a spear and the kid on yours back simultaneously, right? 
Actually, you can with a bit of effort: you need to grab a pup and a spear in each of hands, then you need to grab a pole and start climbing it. While climbing, press shift (or whatever you have for eating and backspears) and both the kid and the spear will be stored on your back!
Saves you a free hand.
