You might've just backtracked a little, that region is kind of confusing either way
As for having lizards as a pet, you can feed them some specific things but I won't say which, that's up to you to figure out

I'd suggest trying to continue following the robot's directions, as I said before already, you'll find the goal sooner or later
it's generally into that way, so there's not many places to get lost at
