there is no wrong desicions in rainworld. all choices have consequenses but no choice is something that would need you to restart the campaign

I just talked to the avatar alien dude who had the flies around them, tried talking, jumping, giving items, grabbing, every possible action and nothing did anything so I did the only action available to my character (eat the flies). The eyeball dude showed an X over my dead body, so I assumed he meant this glowing effect will be removed when I die (I've found this to not be the case since). Because I thought the effect was temporary, I only ate 4 of them and then realized I should save one for later. Cutscene after showed the alien dude with 1 left and was sad, which is when I realized I did something 'wrong' storywise. A bit frusturating considering I had 0 direction (aside from her shaking her head no politely lol) but I've googled about this particular moment while avoiding spoilers and have found many new players making the same mistakes. That said, now that I can glow I'm going back to the dark area w the spiders, I just want to make sure I shouldn't restart or anything.

are there huge downsides to starving? i'm in an area that's pinched on both ends with lots of difficult enemies and platforming, and nearly 0 food. i need karma to go through the next gate

Starving is kinda like an “all or nothing” bet— if you survive you get thru, but if you die then you lose a lot of progress

Kinda… the game gives you a hint technically but it’s not super obvious

yeah my current idea is pretty simple lol. bluntly: “this thing looks like that thing”

but trekking there and back twice without holding anything else will be… a task

but so will walking back there a million times with all the colored pearls i’ve found and that’s in the game so 🤷 possible

also possible that there’s some travel shenanigans that i unlock at some point (aside from passages which are extremely limited)

okay so i’ve spoken to the echoes of a bell, 4 pebbles of amber dude and he kinda just said “i like grass” then gave me +2 karma. the first guy i talked to (6 grains of gravel?) said to “go west to farm array then deep underground”. ive already been to the places underneath i believe, so i should just go back down there im assuming

yes a friend suggested i try artificer, so i think ill do that. i’m really curious to see what happens when you don’t eat moons flies bc i simply didn’t mean to hurt her and felt bad

i don't think it will ever dethrone my fav game of all time but it's certainly earned a seat at the table already which is much more than most games get

i mostly leave them alone. occasionally i'll give them a pearl if i have one lying around, i also tried to save them from gators when possible

i'm viewing the game very much as a literal ecosystem and anything that is not immediately killing me has potential to be helpful

if you are up to test out mechanics etc through trial and error starting arti's campaing is not a bad idea

sooo, what are you doing currently/what have you done so far as gourmie?

been through shaded, talked to an echo (the one in shaded), talked to 5p, and basically have backtracked like 6 times through shaded, the wall, and exterior

went to chimney with full karma to get the echo but i’ve been getting camped and sniped by the spear vultures consistently every life. usually they just drop down with 0 warning and spear me but that’s another problem

i am considering just using my passage to get to sky islands, walking back into chimney, going back to the echo, and finally back to sky islands

but all the backtracking is driving me nuts
