No scav combat is annoying and not that fun. You can make it bearable by utilizing arti's abilities to full extent. By that I mean ||crafting which allows you to craft bombs. Don't bother with espears they suck|| and ||stun ability which is insane. Get in close and stun your enemy||

The Artificer is extremely powerful, combat with them does not necessarily work the same way as with other characters.

Do not hesitate to create explosives from food. If you use them well, you will get much more food in return. That being said, there are disadvantages to explosive spears compared to regular ones, so don't do it mindlessly.
