There's no shame in restarting the run if you don't mind losing the progress you made. Your main progress is your knowledge anyways 
if you choose to go on then try staying near safe places with ways to retreat. Pay attention to any dangers before advancing forward. From your description I can tell you got really far into the region which makes me think you can actually handle it

I am just letting this out because to be honest i dont know if i keep trying to farm karma to open one of the gates or if just restart this run, let me just say that this place have killed me enough times to make me go to the level one of karma and i cant even farm karma level in a good way on this place because of the pits, vultures(for some reason there always three of this things around every time i am exposed to the sky) and the goddamit white lizards that i never found in time the only good thing in this area its the funny worm
