Why, Hunter? [spoilers]
I think this would be better suited as a #downpour-lore question :p
I can repost the same question there.
The focus of this post leans also on the side of how the game telegraphs information to the player.
Both the monk and survivor have a nice set up where they yearn to find their family (hinting at the player to explore), and the overseer giving hints along the way|| (which helps guide them to Moon, then Pebbles, and then to the end)||.
For Hunter, it is just drops to the cutscene and then off to face the gulag that is farm arrays infested with vultures, centipedes and lizards a plenty.
By the time you play Hunter youre expected to already know some of how the world works
You spawn with nothing but a pearl and neuron; there are 2 distinct places you have seen neurons at before
i wonder who needs a neuron...
True.
It still feels like the game left a gap in the story line because it assumes the player would already be conditioned to bring stuff to moon from the other 2 campaigns.
Mechanically, it works for having a spike in difficulty for the player who should know how to navigate the world. But now with more enemies and limited cycles.
But it would be nice for the player to have the information provided to at least confirm what they intend to do when given a pearl and a neuron and expected to run to moon.
The game is very good at not telling players anything
agreed.
I have an opinion on this, but idk if you have spoilers about what to do as hunter or not so idk how much I can say
you can tell me.
If it is a bit much, you can spoiler tag it.
I added spoiler because it mentioned the iterators you need to see.
Frankly, I get how that is a spoiler, but digress given it is the main goal for Hunter, so if the player is expected to know that, I dont see why it has to be spoilered.
It needed to be spoilered because: They are outside Outskirts and this forum is for all first playthroughs
As Hunter, one would already know that the “win condition” is ascension. Even if they don’t know what to do with their items, I feel like this goal would be a good enough reason to visit 5P for most people (most would know that 5P gives a karma increase). Then, from there, they could get told what their actual goal as Hunter is if they haven’t already figured it out
So basically,
they may not know what to do with the items, but they should still probably know to meet 5p, from whom the rest of the necessary info will be given
And if you've brought a neuron to Looks to the Moon before you'll recognize that your starting equipment is probably relevant there.
Even though for hunter (and any other campaign that follows), you are required to complete monk/survivor.
So wouldn't it make any campaign past that a spoiler as well?
Whar
Any Hunter- or MSC-campaign-exclusive content in Outskirts is a spoiler, yes.
o
The existence of the campaigns isn’t a spoiler, but details about them are
Well pretty much everything past Monk/Surv outskirts is spoilers for the forums
Give or take
So, anything past the tutorial of the game is a spoiler. But only for absolute beginners.
(asking to understand, apologies for it sounding sarcastic)
Yeah, <@&981421790339403807> means Survivor/Monk Outskirts content only.
And also not ||lineage||-exclusive content.
The forum channels are mainly for new players to make threads in, so new players may see the first messages in other people’s forums. For this reason, it’s recommended to not include any info beyond the tutorial in the tutorial, as info beyond the tutorial is considered spoilers for new players
The first-playthrough forums are for people learning the game, so obviously the rules here are just "be respectul of what people do and do not know". The titles of forum threads must be spoiler-free because they're visible outside of the thread.
That makes sense.
Although what of players who completed 1 campaign, and then start the next one for the first time.
It would make sense for them to not want spoilers for the end of the next campaign, but not for the campaign they started.
i.e. completing monk/survivor. Starting Hunter. But then the start of hunter is farming arrays.
Players doing hunter would understandably wont need spoiler tags for farming arrays. But those doing the previous campaign would understandably have that region spoilered.
Unfortunately, there’s no Hunter-exclusive channels, so it’s best practice to just not give any Hunter spoilers (like farm arrays) when they can be seen by new players
One can still give Hunter spoilers in threads they make, but only after the first message
The general rule of thumb is to spoiler everything despite wherever you are in terms of spoilers and campaigns in the title and first message of the forum
After that, you dont need to be spoiler anything and if players get spoiled then, oh well, they looked in the forum
First time saint players making a post here and keeping it spoiler free would be a challenge, lol.
Not really
Just make a post titled "Saint campaign" and put in something random for the first post then you cna do whatever after that
Remember it’s just the first message,
So hypothetically it could just say “green cat gaming” and have a picture of
, then only include spoilers in the later messages
Only the title and the opening message of a forum is visible in the forum list
If players were to get Saint spoilers, they have to physically enter a forum
In whcih case thats on them for spoiling themself if they were worried about spoilers
ah ok. I did not even realise the question of the message is removed.
That's why this is a forum rather than a channel. If you make a thread, you don't have to worry about spoilers past the first post, because you can't spoil yourself.
I randomly felt inspired to make a random image
