He can naturally hear echoes. This would imply that I have been sent by an iterator, or, since I don’t have a mark, that my ancestors were designed by an iterator.
mark on forehead. It doesn’t resemble any basic karma things. I believe it’s a Specific Iterator thing. Not that I recognize the iterator.
I ascend things. I love ascending as much as the next organism, but surely I wouldn’t naturally evolve to do that (iterator intervention)
started in sky islands heading east, which is vaguely similar to how Hunter started, being sent from an iterator
if I am made by an iterator, surely I’m mass produced and the other iterators are aware of me and the other saints. So surely I’m here solely to ascend everything. Otherwise moon would have been warned about me beforehand (probably)

Gourm’s random item spit seems like it would be good with crafting in concept, but it seems like it would be really bad in practice.
Compare with artificer:
Arti guarantees:

good weapon
costs one food
You will nearly always get more food overall from your “investment” because you can instakill 1 or more creatures with your items
Gourm gives you:
Slight utility, and you can hypothetically get really good weapons if you try hard enough.
Costs lots of food (which you likely won’t have) if you want to make anything useful.
random chance

Fun fact: iterators are famously named for how high they can count! Five pebbles, for example, can count to five. Looks to the moon, having no numbers in her name, can obviously not count.

LTTM being unable to count is confirmed by various Pearl dialogs: It just has the number "8" written on it, the rest is empty. - clearly, if Moon could count, she would see the great significance of this pearl. But she does not. Similarly, she does not understand the significance of this pearl: It's just the numbers 14, 13, 5, repeated over and over. I have no idea what the purpose for this would be. - if she was able to count, the purpose of the pearl would surely be very obvious, but alas, it is not.

In contrast, Five Pebbles, knowing how to count to five pebbles, was able to count Eleven... no sixteen! Sixteen slag reset keys. (one pebble is approximately 3.2 slag reset keys, just enough for him to count. How convenient.)
