Hi! I started playing a while back, and felt I was able to find the/a route of progression in every area. But i dropped the game for a while after getting to ||the sky islands from the chimney canopy.|| I got pretty stuck there, and have no idea where I would go other than progressing that way. I can't seem to ||find the save area there. My only lead is the radar dish place but whenever I get there, the days usually nearly over. || Is there something I'm missing or is it just a skill issue?

Yeah, that particular area is tough, especially with the gate. There is a shelter near that area - it's ||not in an obvious location||, but it's ||decently close to the radar dish place||.

Stuck trying to get in at the gate entrance from the chimney canopy. I couldn't figure out where else I could go from there, I found some promising areas but couldn't seem to make a jump or figure out what I'm supposed to do
So I guess I'll try to find the shelter in the sky islands

You aren't really supposed to do anything in the Chimney Canopy, the goal is to explore

Chimney is one of my fav regions. There are always multiple ways to get to places, and imo chimney is the region that highlights that the most.
Sky islands is pretty difficult but it’s compact, so the layout is pretty easy to memorise. If you want to find the shelter, keep looking there are only so many places you can find before stumbling across a shelter. the only issue is running out of karma and there’s always enough food in Chimney if you go looking for it.

I did end up finding where it is but it seemed like a jump or something I couldn’t make… maybe just a skill issue or I missed something but I couldn’t find another way to it so not sure. Tried throwing a spear into a wall to get to where the observer guy was saying the shelter is but it wouldn’t stick so not sure what I was missing

Throwing things like spears or rocks mid jump give you a little boost into that direction

i feel like that's not necessary for them to know
instead i might suggest to try again with the spear throw, perhaps do it after jumping towards the wall so it is more likely to stick

do they need to know about that though, if there are other good methods that can be used
especially cause SI is their 4th region

It’s a useful little tech that the game doesn’t really tell you about and helps in many other places tho

and considering that they seem to have quit the game once due to jumps
it's not unreasonable to give a tip that would make them easier
it's not like it's a win button either
just a lil thing to make jumps more consistant

Some jumps are pretty unfair without knowing about throwboosts imo, and even with throwboosts you are still using items to make it a bit easier

Made it to the safe area place with the throw boost bit, I probably could've stuck a spear in the wall if I kept trying but 2 centipedes already made me use a couple lol

went up to the radio and found this weird black and blue ball, i feel like i saw one before, but had no idea what it was for. Figured it was important so I took it back to my shelter. Also having a lot of fun being all floaty with the beetle things, i think we're forming a sort of partnership where they let me grab them and, uh, i don't really do anything but I probably won't let them die
but now i'm realizing it's gonna be 'fun' farming to get karma to leave this place

There are food sources nearby. The main issue is to get them quick and always have a weapon in case of vultures.

It's normal to feel & be lost in this game, though there is a plot. Don't be demotivated, getting stuck just means you have more time to explore the region you're in
