As much as it is heavily recommended not to mess with dev tools on a first playthrough, and you can tell 'em as much, ultimately it is their playthrough and the experience they choose to have with the game.

Explain the risks to them, let them understand that the experience won't be the same if they go down that route, but if they still insist on playing with dev tools, let them. It's their decision.

I used dev tools on my first playthrough of Saint. And not because I wanted to.

I had some real problems with the snow effects and particles that caused framerate drop and even consistent crashes in really large multi-screen rooms. Particularly in one large raindeer room in Farm Arrays.

I installed some mods to try to optimize the game, but no dice.

At the end, I had to install dev tools, and once I turned off the snow in that room, it went buttery smooth.

i still don't view heavy assist mods very positively but some people really don't like some of the aspects of rw so most i can do is recommend they don't continue with it and then just let them do as they please (ex. mods like SBCameraScroll, omni throw, simplified movement or whatever it's called etc)

Then some devs in a panic wrote out riddles to solve accessing the campaign to anyone who knew the msc community trivia or smth

Meanwhile eggspedition was kind of the other way around

There's a hint in-game, and you can find several nudges by Lee Moriya to make someone try it out or pay attention to the hint

and then it got datamined a whole year after Downpour's release

Though the riddle is much less intuitive and fair nowadays, considering that the map's layout changed, from what I remember. The location where the clue was meant to be found was no longer there, maybe it was cut content or something.
In the end the clue ended up as a graffiti in a train at the bottom of Metropolis, but I don't know if one can deduce that from the riddle.

Maybe the riddle should be updated a little.
